Leafstorm nuzzled her kits, one gold, two blacks and a pale grey, "Ghostkit, Nightkit, Shadowkit," she mewed, prodding the blacks and grey carefully, "It's your apprentice ceremony at sunhihg, you need to clean up,"

Ghostkit mewled in annoyance, "Alright mama," she meowed, struggling free from the small nest. She licked a few scraps of moss off her fur, curling her tail around her forepaws as she sat down.

Shadowkit wriggled slightly and got out, glancing at her sister, "Don't be so grumpy," she mewed cheerfully, swishing her tail over Ghostkit's back.

Nightkit yawned, "Is today really the day?" she asked, looking up at Leafstorm with big green eyes. Her ebon pelt shone lightly in the meager daylight that filtered through the walls, showing that her fur was a bit tangled and messy.

"yes dear," mewed Leafstorm, licking Nightkit's head, "Today is the day,"

Emberpelt carefully stowed away the marigold leaves, brushing some of the scraps off her ginger paws. Sighing, she wondered if she would ever get an apprentice, "It would make things easier," she mused, then felt a pang of heat-rending pain as she though of her kits, No cat must know, she thought bitterly.

Eagletalon yawned, grabbing a plump vole from the freshkill-pille, his russet-brown fur sleek and shining from a recent grooming. Settling down to eat in a small patch of sunklight, he wondered where his apprentice Gras.spaw was.

Silverpaw leapt on Whisperpaw's tail, grabbing it playfully, "Get up sleepy head," he mewed in a excited voice, "Minxstar's gonna name the new apprentices today!"

Whisperpaw groaned and rolled over, cuffing Silverpaw's ears, "I'm up, I'm up," she meowed, her voice muffled by Silverpaw's fur.

Icekit pounced on Waterwhisper. "Come on! Get up! Get up! I might be an apprentice today!" Waterwhisper mumbled something intelligible, and rolled over. In the corner, Lightkit perked up her ears. "Apprentice day? Oh, mama what about me?" Lightkit bounded over, poking Waterwhisper's side.

Waterwhisper groaned. "Fine, fine. I am up." Standing up, she stretched, and turned first to Icekit. "Icekit, only maybe will you be an apprentice, but don't get your hopes up. Lightkit, don't even think about it, you are far to young." Lightkit pouted, and Icekit smiled. Waterwhisper flicked her tail, and headed out.

Gras.spaw sat in the sun, warming herself. She yawned, and stood up. Time to start the day, she thought. Bounding over to were Eagletalon sat, she skidded to a halt. "So, what is the plan for today?"

Ashclaw and Dapplenight sat by each other, sharing a bird. "So," Ashclaw started after a moments quiet. "Should be new apprentices today..." Dapplenight nodded. "I wouldn't mind another. Sliverpaw is easy to handle, and he needs the company, I think." The conversation died, and they sat there, rather uncomfortably.

((need mentor for Silentpaw or we could just delete his charrie. lol det. are the cats color-coded by gender? Pantherclaw's a boy XD))

Pantherclaw sniffed the air. The smell of mouse flooding his senses. He pricked his ears and heard scuffling under a pile of bracken. He stayed light on his haunches, spotting the mouse. It was shifting around in the dirt, looking for something to eat. Pantherclaw licked his chops. The mouse looked up and saw Pantherclaw, but it was too late. He sprung and caught the mouse in his open jaws. He bit down hard and the mouse went limp. He put his fresh-kill down and looked up. The sun was just rising into the sky. "I'm going to be late." He said to himself. He picked up his fresh-kill and ran back towards camp.

Shadowclaw waited at the camp entrance, shifting restlessly on her feet. Pantherclaw, you said you weren't going to be long. She thought to herself crossly. She looked back. The other clan members were starting to wake up. It must almost be time for the apprentice ceremony. She stayed where she was though. It was her shift to guard the entrance to the camp.

Dustfur opened his eyes. His sand-colored pelt cold from being in the dark. He stood up and shook out his pelt. Then he walked outside, welcoming the heat of the sun. He padded toward the fresh-kill pile, choosing a small bird. He walked over to a bare patch of gra.ss and sat down. He tucked in to enjoy his fresh-kill.

Ivypaw looked over her shoulder to see Wolfpaw tailing behind her. He lunged at her, his paws sheathed. She dodged to the side and snorted. "I heard you coming up behind me, you clumsy furball." She cuffed his ear playfully. "It's almost time for the apprentice cerremony." She exclaimed. Wolfpaw sat down. "I know that already." He replied crossly. "I can't wait to become a warrior and have my own apprentice." He said. Ivypaw looked at him. "Well, I feel bad for any apprentice that had you for a mentor." Wolfpaw ignored her and began to wash behind his ears.

Eagletalon yawned and flicked his apprentice affectionally over the ears, "First get something to eat, though only if you're hungry, then we'll go hunting after the ceremony," he meowed, his voice a deep rumble that held affection for his rambunctious apprentice.

Leafstorm laughed at Waterwhisper and her kits, "Don't worry Lightkit, you'll be an apprentice one day," she promised, her tone light.

Leopardkit snuggled up to her mother, mewling with comfort, "Mama, will I be one as well?" she asked hopefully, the dark grey spots ebon in the faded nursery light.

"You too," mewed Leafstorm, curling her tail around her only biological kit. "You'll make Minxstar very proud,"

Minxstar padded out of his den, his russet fur gleaming a burnished ginger in the light of sunhigh. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under highrock!" he yowled, his voice echoing across the clearing.

Leafstorm purred, "Can you wait for me and Waterwhisper to come back from the ceremony?" she asked Lightkit and Leopardkit, "You may watch from the nursery clearing, only don't leave it."

Leopardkit nodded, "Someday that'll be me and you up there," she meowed to Lightkit, her eyes bright with joy.

Ghostkit licked her pale fur one last time and exited the nursery, using her nose to guide her to the highrock. She wondered who here mentor would be, though she kept her emotions to herself.

Shadowkit tumbled out of the nursery, squeaking with excitement aat the prospect of becoming an apprentice.

--

Nightkit leaped out behind her sister, her fur finally groomed and cleaned after a couple of heartbeats under her mother's tongue.

Emberpelt sighed and padded out of the cleft in the rock that made her den. Her flame-like fur shone in the light as she picked her way to the gathering of cats under the highrock.

((Glares. No, it said boy. I checked. D:< lol. so Silentpaw will be medicine cat apprentice. i'm cool with that. We still need a mentor for Wolfpaw. Pantherclaw, Shadowclaw, and Dustfur don't have apprentices yet.))

Pantherclaw pricked his ears. He was close to camp and could hear Minxstar's yowl for the beginning of the apprentice ceremony. He padded toward the camp entrance to see Shadowclaw.

Shadowclaw ran up to him and nuzzled her brother's flank. "Come on." She said. "The ceremony's starting." She turned around and padded into the clearing while Pantherclaw dropped off his fresh-kill on the pile. Shadowclaw's heart thumped in her chest. I hope I'll be a mentor to one of them. She thought. She knew that she was still an inexperienced warrior because she was newly named, but she knew she would be up to the task of having an apprentice.

Dustfur got up, stretched silently and shook out his dusty pelt. He yawned, blinking the sleep from his eyes and padded over to the clearing where the ceremony was going to take place. ((epic fail on my part XD))

Ivypaw, Wolfpaw, and Blizzardpaw padded out of the apprentice's den together. Ivypaw cuffed Wolfpaw behind the ear because he had been making fun of her hunting techniques. Blizzardpaw rolled his eyes and looked up at Minxstar. "Come on you guys." He said. "Let's not be late for the apprentice ceremony."

Minxstar watched everycat with a thoughtful silence then nodded briefly, "Today Ghostkit, shadowkit, Nightkit and Icekit will become apprentices.

"Ghostkit, This is a proud day for Swiftclan, by naming apprentices we show that Swiftclan will survive and remain strong.Ghostkit, from now on until you receive your warrior name you will be known as Ghostpaw.

Shadowclaw, you are ready for an apprentice, you will be Ghostpaw's mentor. I know you will p*censored* on your  strength to Ghostpaw, and teach her the skills that will make her a brave warrior of Swiftclan."

Whisperpaw wriggled with excitement beside Silverpaw, her ears twitching as she saw Ghostpaw slowly step forwards. "She's blind isn't she?" she mewed softly to Silverpaw/

Silverpaw nodded, "Yes, I think she was born that way. Look at her, she's the size of a 3 moon kit!" he said incredulously, his eyes wide.

Stormpelt sat next to his apprentice Ivypaw, grey-blue tail moving slkowly side to side as he watched in silence.

Ghostpaw clambered up highrock slowly, feeling for pawholds with her whiskers carefully. She stood infront of Minxstar finally and closed her eyes, suddenly feeling the choking fear of this moment rise up her gorge.

Lightkit nodded at Leopardkit. "Some day she mewed. I can't get a good view!" she crained her neck forward, but still could see nothing. "I'm going to get a better view!" She announced, and took off.

Waterwhisper watched exitment play across Icekit's face. Icepaw, she corrected herself. She smiled. She loved Icepaw, like he was her own. Lightkit appeared at her side, grinning evily. Waterwhisper hissed quietly. "Go back! Don't cause trouble." Lightkit pouted, but slinked back to Leopardkit. "Don't make fun of me." she muttered darkly.

Gras.spaw sat by Eagletalon, almost hopping up and down. "Ok! I'm not hungry, just exited.  can't wait to see who will go with who!" She laughed as Lightkit tried to sneak out. "I remember how it was for me, so so so fun!" she practically squealled. "I can't wait to be a warrior!"
