Coalpaw whipped around to see Duskpaw. "Shhh..." He hissed. "There's a hawk circling right above us, and Icepaw, I think, wants to use my blackbird as bait." He dropped the blackbird in front of Duskpaw to allow her to sniff it. |

Duskpaw recoiled, "It smells like Crowkill." she said. She rubbed her nose on the ground, it was sensitive to rotten food. "You did catch that right?" she wondered if it was diseased...

Coalpaw looked at his bird. He sniffed it all over. No maggots, nothing funny smelling. "Yeah, I did." He replied. "I just buried it under a pile of dirt, that's probably why." He tilted his head to one side. "We do that, you know." He said. "I think you should ask Rainflower what to do. She is your mentor." He placed his words carefully, afraid that he would offend her.

"It doens't smell like Earth." she said coldly. She knew that apprentices burried her prey. In fatc, she had just done it a few minutes ago with a small mouse, but the bird smelt different...

Coalpaw rolled his eyes. "Oh well, if the bird's gone bad, we can always just give it to the hawk." He licked his lips. "Then catch the hawk instead." 'Pantherclaw would be proud!' Coalpaw thought, his tail curling up with delight. This would the last act as an apprentice, may as well make it a grand one.

Icepaw grabbed the blackbird. "I don't care if it's rotten. That stupid hawk will probably eat anything," She said before she flung the bird a few feet from the hawk. The bird gave a loud squawk before it swiveled its head around and saw the kill. Its head cocked and it scanned the area with beady eyes before flapping it's wings and landing next to the bird. It gave it a small peck, experimenting, before picking it up in its beak. "Coalpaw hurry. It's going to get away," She said and without waiting for him, burst from the bushes. She hurtled into the bird before it could even screech and pinned its wings down. The hawk was almost as big as her and the wings were moving too much for her to get the death blow in with her claws. She didn't want to put her face in the dangerous reach of the birds beak.

Coalpaw, worried that Icepaw would get hurt, bunched up the muscles in his leg and sprang, landing square on the back of the bird. Risking his paws, he reached over to the hawks head and started clawing in a frenzy. The hawk screeched in shock, and struggled. "Hold him down, Icepaw!" He yowled, as he felt blood drip down his paws. He also felt the sensation that the hawk's struggles were growing weaker with every blow.

Duskpaw wanted to help. She ran to the birds wings and held it down under her sharp claws, biting the neck of the large hawk. She held on with Coalpaw as it struggled... ooc: I have to go, don't go too far without me!

Icepaw released the hawk when it drew in a last gurgling breath and stilled beneath her. Her face was covered with blood and she set to rubbing it off, hating the taste of blood on her tongue. She looked down at Coalpaw, eyes clouded with worry. "That's just the hawk's blood, right?" She asked, suddenly scared she had caused Coalpaw's paws injury.

ooc: now I really have to go. Duskpaw curled her tail that the sharp talons of the bird had clawed and her already cloudy eyes became like fog. She whimpered, the pain was well... pain. It hurt...

[[Um, Feyth, the hawk's already dead]] Coalpaw leapt off the dead hawk. His right paw, the paw he used to claw the hawk, started stinging as soon as he landed. "Ow... didn't notice that." He said, as he lifted it up to check it. "A rather deep wound." He noted. His right paw had a gash right above the pads. "The hawk probably clawed and nipped it. Guess I was too busy trying to kill it." Coalpaw quickly licked the blood off. "Hey, we killed a hawk!" Coalpaw was overjoyed, but this time, could not bounce because of the injury. [[Good bye!]] |

Icepaw peered down at the wound. "This is all my fault! If I hadn't wanted to catch a hawk, your paw wouldn't be hurt," She exclaimed and found he couldn't put his weight on it. "She grabbed one of the hawk's wings. "Duskpaw, help me carry this?" She asked through a mouthful of feathers. She suspected that she should get the hawk to came as soon as possible. The blood was beginning to dry around the wounds, but she didn't want the fresh-kill to turn bad. "Coalpaw, lean against me if you need to and we'll go see Emberpaw when we bring the bird back," She said, but didn't know if Coalpaw could understand her through the feathers.

Coalpaw winced as he tested out his paw again. "Ow...ow..." He muttered, starting to limp in a pathetic way. "It's alright, Icepaw. I guess it's my fault for trying to quicken the hawk's death. I'm so impatient." He grinned. He followed Icepaw back to the camp, leaving his blackbird behind. 'Aw, it was so fat.' He thought, feeling a bit disappointed. 'At least we caught a big hawk.' He comforted himself with those thoughts, as he started to limp back to camp. "Ah, I hope this wound won't mess up the warrior ceremonies." He said.

Icepaw gazed at him fiercely. "It will NOT mess up your warrior ceremony," She told him and dropped the hawk onto the pile, ignoring the surprised look on Shadowstorm's face. She padded back over to Coalpaw and led him to the Medicine Cat den. "Here," She said, gesturing to a soft patch of moss. -- Emberpaw walked out of the store of herbs, her paws filled with different medicines. She saw Coalpaw's would and dropped the herbs immedietly to look over his paw. The gash was made by a large talon and she looked up at him, her eyes swimming with confusion. "How big was the bird that attacked you?" She asked.

Coalpaw was surprised by the determined look on Icepaw's face. "If you say so..." He trailed off as he plopped down onto the nest in the den. He looked up at Emberpaw. "Well, we killed the hawk." He explained, and pointed at the hawk outside the den. "That's how big it was. I was clawing at its neck and head. I guess I couldn't feel the pain because I was too excited. It was pretty big." He finished off. He tilted his head to one side. "When will the wound be healed?" He asked Emberpaw.

Emberpaw sighed. "Not by your warrior ceremony, but I believe things will still go smoothly for you. All you have to do is sit there and get your name," She said, not caring that she would never feel the same rush as a warrior did when he was given his name. She pointed to a small pool of water to the right of the den. "Wash your paws off in that to get rid of the blood. I'm going to fetch some herbs for that." She said and hurried back to the medicine den. Emberpaw twitched her nose and found the bitter smelling Alder leaves. She grabbed a pawful of those and scooped some Burdock leaves along with more cobwebs. She grabbed her herbs and returned to Coalpaw. She set them down by him and waited for him to cleanse the blood from the wound. "I take it, the birds blood got into your wound," She said. [[parental controls. going to be logged out in 15 min...so bye XD]]

[[Uhm, I think Coalpaw and Icepaw brought down a hawk, but Coalpaw got a deep cut from the hawk's talons and now he's in the Med. cat den. Shadowstorm just told Fallingstar about the incident with FrostClan. That's it, I think o-o]]
