(( No, not all posts have to be this long XD I was just setting the scene :3 ))

Mason leaned back against a tree in the Selro Courtyard. The canopy of leaves above him protected him from the light drizzle of rain. He stared up at the sky. It was a light gray, almost silvery color. He checked his watch. 3:30. The last of the students would be being let out for Spring Break. Although students were allowed to leave grounds and go home for breaks, few did. Leaving ground was like inviting an ambush. The students were the next generation, targeting them always hit the countries hard. Therefore, no matter how dangerous Selro was, students stayed because the world outside was much more dangerous. He sighed and looked around the Courtyard. Unlike other parts of the school grounds, it did not have a glas-s roof or stone ground so there were rarely students there. It was a good place to go to get away from the loud life of students. Granted, it was also a perfect place to get jumped. This reason alone was why his shoulders were tense and his eyes slowly swept over the Courtyard.

----------------

Rel wandered around the halls of Selro, dodging past groups of students. His last cl*censored* had ended a hour previously and he had been looking for a bit of action ever since. But oddly enough, there was no fighting today. Perhaps it was due to the increase of observant teachers in the hallways. The fear of being expelled was greater than the drive to fight in the students. Selro was one of the only schools in Sel. If you're not a Sel and you get kicked out, you'd be back on your way to you're home country in a matter of days.

Rel's boots thumped against the stairs as he made his way down to the ground level. Maybe there'd be a bit more fighting closer to the dorms, where the Teachers weren't as frequent.

There fell an eerie silence as Cori's last clas.s drew to an end, the teacher dismissing the tired students. Usually, the spring was a time to relax, when the constant rain was a bare drizzle or a faint snow, apart from the regular blizzards of winter or heavy downpours in summer. Now, however, it was a time of fear rather than a time of fun, hardly any students leaving the boarding school to travel, to afraid to vacation. Corrine gathered her things and pulled out a hair band to tie her medium length auburn hair into a low ponytail to the left of her head. Other students were getting up to leave as well, the teacher deciding that they had wished the students a happy break and were off the clock, sitting in her chair checking the computer. As Cori began to walk, a couple of pure Sels, bright red hair identifying the two, came up behind her, bumping into either side of her. "Mutt!" One of the boys sneered at her, reffering to Corrine's partial Jin history, not a full Sel, as seen by her not-fully-red hair. She sighed, bening over to pick up her books as the two Sel boys avoided sharp gazes from the teacher, who hadn't witnessed Cori's taunting. Spring break was off to a wonderous start.

---

Keb looked longingly at the silvery clouds, counting the tiny pitters of rain as they dove onto the roof above him. The Jin-descended boy stared at the glas.s roofing of one of the less popular courtyards, one with no benches and few flowers, only a couple of sturdy trees and a field. While a few small groups of couples giggled and kissed over by the trees, Keb lay close to the middle of the gras.s, hands tucked behind his head as the boy watched the evergoing rain. He wondered curiously if there would ever be a clear day, but his thoughts were interrupted by a couple about ten yards from him, generously kissing and laughing. "Ugh." Keb mumbled to himself. "Get a room."

It had turned into one of those cl*censored*es where the seconds took forever and the minutes slipped to hours. Jing sighed. His chin rested on the desk and his eyes wandered about the cl*censored*room. Jins, Sels, and Dakes alike were stuffed all together. It was maddening. Finally, Jing abruptly stood up (although it was in the middle of the teacher's lecture), gathered up his textbooks, and walked out the door before anybody could say a word. Of course, any cl*censored* that ever had Jing in it would probably always remember him and know that this behavior wasn't unusual. He was always doing things his own way-- nobody was going to stop him.
Walking along the halls of the school, Jing decided to head towards the courtyard. Students were afraid of it because it was more dangerous than other parts of the school. It was open, for one. You could see the sky. Jing absolutely loved it.
However, when he was just about to set foot into the courtyard he bumped into somebody. His books fell to the ground.
"Watch it," an irritated female voice said as he stooped to gather them up again. When he got up, he was looking into the face of a girl with perfect flame red hair that was tied up in some sort of messy bun. It suited her, though. She was obviously a pure blood Sel. Okay. Well, so long as you're not a Dake.
"The name's Jing. Sorry I bumped into you. I haven't seen you here before," Jing said, stretching out the hand that wasn't holding books to shake the girl's. She, however, just stared at the hand. Of course she's going to dislike everyone but other pure blood Sels he thought. He didn't see, however, that the girl was just being shy and wasn't trying to be deliberately mean.
"Sorry," she muttered under her breath, then walked out into the courtyard. Jing sighed and followed. When the two were fully out under the open sky, they saw that they weren't alone. Somebody else seemed to have the same idea of getting away from the chaos inside the school walls.
-x-x-x-
Most fifteen year olds are more carefree and open to people than the older ones in the school. There are some exceptions, though. One of these exceptions was a girl named Rosaleen Blood Dake. She didn't like speaking to people, and she acted cold. She knew she probably wasn't the only person who had had something like this happen to them, but she couldn't help feeling that she was all alone. She didn't look carefree. She looked wary of her surroundings and of the people around herself.
Rosaleen had been about to go into the courtyard. One thing had stopped her, however. It was the fact that she had spotted a pure blood Sel walk into the coutyard, for one. For another, that pure blood Sel happened to be her sister. Thankfully not related by blood. If the two happened to cross paths at all, all hell would break loose. It had happened before. However, nobody seemed to know why they hated each other so much. This she would keep a secret.
She didn't have any friends at all in this place. Why? Because Rosaleen couldn't let anyone close to her. For one, they would have to get past her cold outside shell. Usually nobody was up for that. For another, she couldn't really bring herself to trust anyone again. If she couldn't trust her own family (well, the people she had thought were her family) then she couldn't trust anyone.
Rosaleen decided to walk out into the courtyard anyway. She would ignore the existence of Taika completely. If Taika happened to instigate a fight, she would regret it. Grimly, Rosaleen walked out into the courtyard at last.

[[Think I fixed it. And thanks for the alert : P]]

Aryia was out of her room already, walking around the school. "Aw, I hate being new." She muttered to herself. "Maybe I should find Mason. He's the only one I know." She sighed to herself, as she swugn her head from side to side to avoid bumping into anyone. "Ah, I really do hope I can find him." She continued talking to herself, occasionally forgetting her goal to not bother anyone. Aryia looked around the hall for a clock. "Well, he usually wanders around the school." She said, and continued her search for Mason. Aryia poked her head into every room possible, until she reached the Courtyard."Mason!" Aryia cried. "There you are! I've been looking all over for you!" She blew hair out of her face. "I was bored." She grinned.

( Dammit. D8 *scuttles away to type an intro* )

Although he wasn't really ignoring the stares he got from other students, Destery was completely oblivious to the weird looks he got. It was a challenge to read upside down, but all the blood rushing to his head was making his brain work a little harder. He was in a tree, as usual, but it wasn't often that he studied while hanging upside-down. After carefully reading over each word and ignoring how heavy his head felt, Destery pulled himself up onto the branch, sighing and closing his book. It wasn't even interesting, so how could he read it?

The courtyard was mostly empty, save for a few kids who didn't care whether or not there was a possibility of being jumped. He was glad for those types of people. They were the ones who would probably have a better chance at being successful in life than others, and obviously, they weren't afraid of a fight. Without those types of people, there wouldn't be anyone to protect the weak. Therefore, the strong were a necessity.

Why he was thinking about that, Destery wasn't sure, but he'd barely noticed that he'd walked back into the building and put his book away, and now he was standing by his room, blinking. The whole "strong people need to protect the weak" thing was getting to him. It reminded him of his mother...and sister. Too bad he was at a boarding school; he'd never be able to reach them from such a place. At least... maybe not quickly. Oh, well. His mother was sure that she could take care of herself and his little sister. Maybe, if he gave her the space to prove that to the both of them... Well, he wouldn't have to worry so much anymore then.

Mason's gaze flicked up when he heard more people enter the courtyard. He flinched slightly when he saw Jing. Although he didn't dislike Jins, his own cousin was half after all, he still felt a natural distrust of them. It was very possible for one to attack him simply because he was Dake. He shivered slightly and ran a hand through his sapphire hair nervously, running the thumb of his other hand over one of the metal spikes hanging from his neck. His mind shifted to an imaginary fight between him and Jing, Jing of course being the attacker and Mason fighting in self-defense. His thoughts became darker and he almost became lost in his imagination until he heard his cousin's voice, shouting at him.

He looked up at Aryia, a grim ex
pression on his face, and tried to give her a small smile. This only succeeded in making him look pathetic, and upon realizing it he frowned and turned his head. He slouched forward and folded his hands in his lap. Continuing to watch the people who were there, especially the Jin boy. He couldn't really figure it out, but the atmosphere seemed to have gotten more tense while he had been day-dreaming. Maybe something was going on that he didn't know about. The thought made him shiver again.

"I've been here for a while now," he said to Aryia, although he didn't look at her, "I don't think we'll be able to visit our grandparents this Spring Break. I don't think it's a safe idea to leave school grounds." He sighed, feeling a bit bad for his cousin. Having both Jin and Dake blood could easily make her the target of both sides' aggression. Mason, for one, thought she was a good example of how not everyone from each country haded each other. "Sorry."

----------------------

Rel had reached the Boys' Dorm with absolutely no incident, which was very annoying to him. He seemed to have a bit of spring fever from the light rain. The lighter the rainfall, the more students that were out. He looked up at the sky. The rain was falling very lightly, almost a bit on the unusual side, even for spring. Maybe they'd finally have that one day without rain. He laughed at the thought. It was always raining and it would never stop. Only a madman would hope for a clear day.

He pushed open the door to the dorm and walked in. There were a few students hanging around, talking in their separate racial groups. Nasty looks were exchanged between groups occasionally, but Rel could immediately tell the tension wasn't high enough for a fight to break out. He kept on walking.

After a bit of exploring, he found a Sel, maybe with a bit of Dake heritage, standing outside a room. Having given up on finding a fight, Rel went over to Destery. The boy looked a bit grim and lost in thought, so Rel began to have second thoughts about bothering him. Still, walking up to a person, looking like you want to talk to them, then walking away would look weird. Rel cleared his throat.

"Umm, hi there," he said, smiling at Destery. Although he was itching for a fight, he wouldn't just start one randomly with someone. Rel had never once started a fight or been a main reason a fight had started. He was always the one who would just jump into a fight and throw a random punch.

((Aw, poor Keb and Cori. D: They were ignored while everyone else's characters interacted.))

Keb, a bit annoyed at the lovers' behaviours, abruptly stoop, brushing the gras.s off his back and leaving the roofed courtyard, hoping to find some solitude in the only open one. To his dismay, there were at least two other groups stading there chatting, and he rubbed his neck uncomfortably. At least it was better than the one he had been in before, he reminded himself, holding his hand out to see what the light drizzle really felt like. Deciding that it wasn't enought to discourage him, Keb clutched his book tighter and stode over to one of the trees, leaning against the hard bark. There he flipped open a few pages, reading about his most interesting subect, that on warfare. He had always been intruiged on why the human race found it a neccesity to battle with each other, always searching for the reason, which still baffled him beyond compare.

((Uh, I'll think of something for Cori later, I'm kind of braindead right now.))

(( Lol, well Mason was staying where he was and it would have been weird for Rel to take a side trip to a courtyard that was probably empty. ^^; ))

Mason flinched again when another Jin male entered the courtyard. He licked his lips nervously, watching the Jin from the corner of his eye. The usually unpopular uncovered courtyard seemed to be attracting a lot more attention thanks to the light rain. He glared up at the sky accusingly for 'inviting' more students to his usual hangout. He looked back to Keb nervously. He was able to tell that he was reading a warfare book and that only made Mason more nervous. There was nothing worse than a Jin, or any possible enemy, that was obsessed with war. He wanted to walk away, but he didn't want to try and find a new quiet place. He wouldn't let anything, especially not his own nervous paranoia, chase him from his favorite courtyard. He frowned childishly at Keb before turning his attention to a blade of gras-s next to his leg.

( ;c I think Loki's trying to kill my eyes...even more than they already are. )

Just as Rel had thought, Destery was lost in his thoughts, leaning heavily against a wall and letting his head hang. He hadn't even noticed when some odd-looking, red-haired guy walked up to him, and it wasn't until he spoke that Destery noticed him. Having been oblivious to his presence before, he was rather startled when he spoke, and he jumped, eyes widening. "Oh," He sighed, sounding relieved, and waved at the other male. "hi. I didn't expect anyone to speak to me." He blinked at the stranger. What did he want?

(( Huh? How am I doing that? o_o; ))

Rel took a step back when the male jumped. He frowned, he hadn't intended to startle him. Still, when Destery spoke, it hadn't sounded annoyed at all, in fact it sounded relieved. He frowned at that. It seemed odd to be relieved to meet a stranger in an empty hallway.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle," Rel said, rubbing the back of his neck. It was a nervous habit he had picked up and did it whenever he felt awkward. "I was a bit bored, no fights going on and all, so I was just looking for something to do. If I'm bothering you, I'll leave you alone." He laughed nervously. Great, now he felt like an idiot. Talking to random strangers was not his strong suit. He probably should have just kept on walking.

( Your other post had very tiny text. ono )

Destery frowned, as well, looking over the other male. He'd noticed when he took a step back. It sort of offended him. "You're not bothering me," Much. he thought, letting his hair fall into his face when he looked down. He licked at his lower lip, which, as usual, was pierced through with black metal. When he put those on, he thought that he looked rather menacing, or maybe he just looked intimidating. He wasn't sure. But, if he looked at people, and they stepped away, it made him grin. Intimidating people was something he got a kick out of.

"Find something other to do than fight, then," Destery said, shrugging lightly. "I'm sure you can find something constructive to do. I was actually studying earlier, you know." Then, he grinned. "But, only because I was so bored that I was driven to that point. Book was boring, though." He shrugged again.

"Well, you do look really tense, Mason." Aryia said, resisting the urge to pat his back. She always felt a certain uneasiness around her cousin. Then she looked up to see someone approaching them. "Oh, look, Mason!" She said. "There's another Jin! Think he recognizes me?" She grinned childishly. 'I do hope everyone is nice...' She thought hopelessly to herself.

(( Oh, I'm sorry :c I didn't intend for it to be. ))

Rel shrugged, a bored ex
pression on his face. The male's look didn't bother him at all, in fact he thought it looked rather cool. "What's there to do besides fighting?" he asked, "Studying during spring break is a waste and I'm not stupid enough to try and leave today." He sighed. He had hoped he could have spent break with his sister, maybe even visiting his father a few times, but that probably wouldn't be happening thanks to the escalated violence. He really did dislike Jin and Dake for starting a war and causing all these problems for Sel.

-----------------------

Mason jolted violently when he heard Aryia shout about a Jin. Why did she have to be so oblivious to the tension and so careless as to draw attention to herself. He looked at her childish ex
pression and frowned nervously. "Aryia, you shouldn't go shouting things like that," he said, his voice sounding very nervous. He really didn't want something unlucky to happen today.

[[Dingdingding! Loki wins more money XD And yep. Sorry if it sounds confusing. I guess I should put in names.]]

Aryia rolled her eyes. "I wasn't shouting, Mason." She replied. "Besides, why would shouldn't I?" Aryia paused for a moment. "Oh, I get it. I'll apologize if I annoy anyone, alright, Mason?" She smiled at the thought of hurting her cousin's 'rep'. "Anyway, are people in this school nice?" She sat down on the gr*censored*, picking at the gra.ss.
