"In my opinion, it's more likely the well water than the cigarettes." He looked around and ran a hand over his forhead, pushing back the bangs again. He needed a haircut. "You're food will be safe if you step outside."

"It smells nasty," Seth told him. "Way too much iron. And some of these people actually drink it." He shuddered. "I tried it once, and I was sick to my stomach for two days."

"Yeah, but it's not the cleanest city," Seth countered. "You don't really find anything here. The only ones that litter are the kids, and there aren't many of those. Drugs aren't even really hooked in here, aside from a little weed. And the bar closes at ten." He rolled his eyes. "It can get a little boring at times."

"That reminds me, if better be good," Seth said seriously. He allowed his chin to rest on his palm, gazing at the other. He took in every curve and freckle. He hadn't changed much, it seemed.

Seth looked at the clock. "So where are you off to after this?" he asked. He couldn't help but be curious. This was the trip they'd planned together, although now he wished they'd set a course. This little town wouldn't have been on the map. Then again, it was sort of nice to see the man after so long.

"No idea. Is there a hotel in this town?" Sterling asked, repeating the process with a sliver of steak. He wanted to stay, but he doubted there was anything here nicer than a Motel.

Seth tried to think. "About ten miles up the road in Lanford, I think there's a Holiday Inn or something. I don't go there that much, so I can't swear to it. There's some sort of Hotel, at least."

Seth thought it over, but the bell over the door jingled and in walked an older couple. They wouldn't wait patiently for long. He stood up, pulling down his hair before putting it right back up. He had a habit of doing that when he felt it was messy. "I really can't, Sterling. I've got work to do." He glanced at his watch. Almost time to get off. His shift replacement would be there soon. "It was nice talking to you."
