The eerie light of Willow's ember made the shadows dance as you descended deeper and deeper under the ground, until you reached the basement floor. The darkness seems all encompassing here, but you can still see decently.
It appears as if a ritual had been performed. There was a circle drawn on the ground in some sort of ink, and it was surrounded by candles. It feels... dark. And menacing. And frightening...
Coming closer, you realize the 'ink' isn't ink at all... It's blood. It appears as if something had been summoned from the dead... or worse. It's almost too much to handle.
Something else strange is that there is a small podium with a blood red crystal sitting on it. There is a note written on the pedestal that you can barely make out from Willow's dim light. Use in case of emergency!  What does that mean?
"Gabriel?" Serenity calls from upstairs. You can't place the tone of her voice, but you hope it isn't scared. Because you at this point are enough scared for the both of you.

Gabriel's eyes grew wide and he covered his mouth as he stared down at the sight before him, taking a step back. He noticed the crystal and, deciding to possibly do something exceedingly stupid, moved to grab it and immediately shove it into his bag as far away from any pokeballs as possible before he knelt down to pick up Willow and get out of there as quickly as possible. "S-Serenity I-I think we need to go," he called, hugging his pokemon close as he fought off the urge to fall and cry. That was...that was horrible!

Serenity is upstairs, back turned to you, flipping through a book. As you approach, she turns, pushing the cover in your face. "Do you know what this is?" she demands.

Gabriel froze again, blinking once before he took a step back and reached out to take hold of the book and look at it.

((Shortest post in ages yay. Time to see what the book is wheee))

Serenity shoved the book into your hands, letting you read it. "Do you know what this is?" she nearly shrieked. You shook your head once again, running your fingers over the cover.
The book was white, with a triangle on the front. The top of the triangle had what looked like two mirroring parts of a spiked golden circle, the bottom left, a blue diamond that glittered even in the dim light, and the bottom right, a peach colored circle filled in with pale pink color.
"It's an Arceon," she elaborated. And that clicked in your head. The pokemon world's version of the Bible. Most of the legends, the people of the six regions knew by heart. And many people had one in their house. But never had you seen one so ordained, so ancient.
The symbols on the front made sense now as well. At the top, the symbol for Arceus. The bottom left, Dialga, and the bottom right, Palkia. The three creators.
"Yes, I know what you're thinking," Serenity said before you could get words out. "So what? An Arceon. Well, it's not JUST an Arceon." She began to flip through the pages.
You could see the different books of the religious text. Most of which you were familiar with. But, as she reached the back, it started to appear... strange. The books... you had never heard of some of them. It was like someone had added on to the novel. Or like this version was an expanded version. Or even like the versions people had in their homes today had left some things out...
For in the back of the novel, there seemed to be summoning rituals, spells, voodoo, alchemy... all sorts of dark... magic? What?
"And that's not what worried me," she said grimly after seeing your face. She turned to a page that had been dog eared.
"The Summons of Darkrai," she read outloud softly. A breeze blew against the cabin, creaking the boards and startling the both of you.
That circle on the page drawn in blood looked mighty familiar...

Gabriel looked down towards the basement before reaching out to gently grasp Serenity's arm. "Can you tell if that says anything about a bright red crystal?" he asked softly. "Because, um...I'm...pretty sure that Summon was performed downstairs. I'm not totally sure if we should stay here for too much longer," he said, growing increasingly more nervous as he gently hugged his Pokemon before returning Willow. If they got into a sticky situation, Jacen could still Teleport all of them out of harm's way.

((Hope you're liking this so far.))

Serenity shook her head, nervous. "This writing is in poke runes... I don't know many people who can read it. Though I do know someone who can..." She peered at the picture of the ritual for some time. "Something... like that?" She pointed to the picture, to a drawing of a small ruby red stone laying in a chalice.
The wind howled again, and she jumped. "Let's head back, I'll tell you about my ideas later."
Though, its never that easy, is it? Back into the dreary weather you go, only to encounter an old friend.
"Carnivine!" Out of the woods jumped the plant pokemon, and Serenity sighed.
"I really don't have time for this," she grumbled, shivering in the wind and rain. "Diamond, Natty, let's go!"

((I love it eue

And your siggy caught me off guard xD))

Gabriel let out a soft whine at the sight of the Carnivine, sending out Willow to help since she was a fire-type. "Willow, use Ember," he called, moving to huddle up as he began to shiver. He really hoped they wouldn't end up having to spend the night in that house. It was terrifying and he didn't like it one bit.

"VAAAA!" roared the grass type, levitating above the ground like the unnatural monster it is. Natty soared above, distracting it with an air cutter that barely seemed to effect it. Diamond used mist, creating a fog that only her ally's eyes could penetrate.
"Vul!" hummed Willow as she charged through the fog. The beast was flailing now, vines flapping every which way. Willow let out a burst of flame from her mouth, damaging the carnivine slightly, but also dispersing the protective fog.
The grass type locked eyes with Willow, and with an awesome speed, wrapped her with his vines and brought her to his face. More specifically, his mouth.
"Vul...pix... vul..." gasped Willow for air.
"Natty, get her out of there!" cried Serenity.

Gabriel's breath caught in his throat for a brief moment before he rushed forward immediately, moving to return JAcen to keep him safe as he started tugging at the Carnivine's...well, vines to try to get Willow free. He wasn't losing her like this. He wasn't losing her at all; he wouldn't allow it. "Let her go!" he shouted, tugging at the vines with all the strength he could muster, desperately trying to get her out of there. He had gotten her to give her a home, not to let her get eaten by this monstrosity!

The large, grass type used the rest of its long vines to whack you out of the way, slamming you into the ground. Being a human and not a pokemon with special powers, you had no means to stop this.
Natty, on the other hand, dove from the sky and began slicing a the pokemon with her wings, while Diamond used her extreme speed to snatch Willow out of there. The fire type was angry, and fired an ember at the carnivine's dangling vines.
With three pokemon now attacking it, the pokemon actually sunk to the ground, no longer levitating. The three attacked relentlessly, until it gave up, attempting to crawl back into the woods.
"Not so fast!" cried Serenity, jumping onto a rock like she was putting on a show. She grasped a strange, top-looking device and attached it to what looked like a wand. "Capture styler, go!" she cried.
Swinging her arm, the top flew from her wrist and began swinging around the carnivine in synch with her moving the wand. The device beeped before the pokemon could get away, and it sat up, blinking.
Serenity smiled. "Capture, finish!" she said, and walked up to the carnivine boldly. The extremely dangerous vicious pokemon who had just tried to literally eat your vulpix, kneeled on the ground, and cried.

Gabriel skittered up off the ground to go and grab Willow, holding her close and burying his face into her fur as he shook slightly, his breathing already ragged from panic as tears stung at his eyes as well. He looked over at the Carnivine with wide eyes, his thoughts swimming as he momentarily forgot that it was raining and windy and that he was extremely cold. All that mattered was that Willow was okay.

He backed away from the Carnivine, still holding onto Willow for a good few more moments before he apologized quietly and returned her to her pokeball, leaving him with no pokemon out in sight. It took him a good while for his panic to subside, but his breathing was still uneven.

He could have lost Willow right then and there.

"S-Serenity...wh-what on earth is going on?"

She ignored you for the time being, and did something incredible.
She began scolding the terrifying pokemon like she was its mother!
"Bad boy, very bad! You don't terrify travelers, that's not good!" she said in a talking-to-a-baby voice. "Now, if you want to go, you have to promise to be good."
The grass type was at this point laying on the ground sobbing like a baby. It nodded its head weakly, whimpering. "Vi... vine..."
"Good boy," she said. "Now get up." He stood up, still not levitating, more kneeling on the ground. "Capture, release!" Serenity said, pushing a button on her wrist.
The carnivine, calm as ever, floated into the woods, actually waving goodbye to you and Serenity.
"Capture Stylers do to pokemon what pokeballs do," Serenity explained. Wild pokemon function on instinct, very few have any kind of extra intelligence, emotion, or awareness. However, pokeballs give pokemon sentience and intelligence, some scientist argue even more so than humans. So what Serenity said made sense. "The only difference is, it doesn't capture the pokemon. I can't give it orders. Now that carnivine has a sense of right and wrong, and knows better than to attack people on the road."

Gabriel stared at Serenity for a moment before he nodded slightly and moved to wipe off his face, aware of the fact that he'd ended up crying because he was terrified of losing Willow. "S-so, um...where are we going to get out of the rain?" he asked softly, obviously still rather shaken by the events that had just transpired. He never wanted to have to be put through that again. He sighed gently, putting a hand on his chest as he worked to completely calm back down.

This was way too much excitement for one day.

((Gabriel bby shh it's okay now))

Serenity grinned. "You should teleport us back to the pokemon center with that raltz," she suggested. Duh.

Back at the pokemon center, the two of you decided to get coffee and dry off, changing into clean clothes. Serenity began to discuss with you her idea for your next step.
"We need to know what is in this book," she said, thinking. "We have to be able to read these runes, and there's only one person in Kalos that I believe would be able to do so." You nod, listening. "Shalour City, that's where we need to go next. Gurkinn lives in the Tower of Mastery... he's the only one I could think of that could read these runes. After all, he's the one who unraveled the secrets of mega evolution...."

Gabriel nodded slightly and gave a gentle sigh as he pulled his knees up to his chest, sipping at his coffee. "Hopefully it won't be too difficult to get there," he murmured softly, his hand moving to brush against Willow's pokeball. He shook himself off after a moment and went back to his coffee, looking up at Serenity once more. He was assuming they were going to start their journey the next morning, which was definitely reasonable. They could get some training in along the way as well, which would definitely not hurt them in the long run.

Then he blinked and twisted to grab his bag, fishing into it to pull out the crystal he'd snatched, holding it out for Serenity to examine. "Is this the crystal that was in the book, by the way?"

"Yeah, looks like it," she said, pulling out the book and comparing the two. "Where did you find this? Do you know what it is? Why was it there?" she asked, leaning across the table barraging you with questions. Her blonde hair nearly dipped into her coffee. Natty waddled up beside her awkwardly (noibat rarely use their feet to move) and helped push her hair out of the way.
"Ba."

Gabriel shook his head slightly as he looked down at it. "It was in the basement...near a...well, it was the pattern in the book, but drawn in blood on the floor. The crystal was labeled 'use in case of emergency', and, well... I didn't stay down there too much longer to try to find out," he responded, setting the crystal aside as he shivered, looking downward. "It was so /much blood/, though, Serenity... And I'm pretty sure it was the summoning of Darkrai." He rubbed his face with his hands, biting his lip. "I'm sorry I couldn't find out anything else, but...it was just...too much."

Serenity nodded, biting her lip. "Well, we might need to hold onto that thing, just in case," she mused, thinking. "What's the best way for us to get to Shalour? You could probably battle the gyms on the way there, too."

"The fastest way would probably be to go back through Lumiose and to head towards Courmarine Cty," he responded softly, rubbing the back of his neck slightly. "Unless you'd rather not be on  a boat. In which case, we can go from Lumiose to Camphrier Town, then through Syllage and Geosenge," he responded as he put the crystal back into his pack, exhaling quietly. "We don't have any pokemon that can carry us there yet, so...those are our main options, I think, given where we are right now."

Gabriel rubbed his face again, setting his coffee aside. "On the way there we can train up, I suppose. Get stronger so we can better defend ourselves, since there are way worse things out there than an angry Carnivine..."
