Gabriel was breathing rather heavily at that point, staring up at the guards. "I..I need the...the Pokemon Center! This Skitty really needs help, one of its legs is infected," he responded, looking rather desperate. "Please."

He looked down at the little skitty, shifting it so he could move his sweatshirt and show the poor little Pokemon's leg as proof.

The guard huffed, looking at the other one. They nodded at each other, stepping aside and letting you through the gate.
The city was strangely quiet, even for a rainy day. This late into spring normally children would be outside playing in the puddles, dancing in the rain. But you paid no heed, rushing to the pokemon center. It was quiet inside there as well, with many trainers sitting at the waiting tables silently. Occasionally a nurse Joy would come out from the back room, whispering something solemnly to one of the trainers. The trainer that you saw this happened to in particular broke down and started to cry.
The Joy at the counter looked downcast, staring at a computer screen. Another trainer on your right began to cry silently.

Gabriel slowly steppes in, looking around before he moved up to the counter, offering out the skitty in his sweatshirt. "Can...can you help this Skitty?" he asked softly before he looked over at the crying trainer.

"Um, what happened, if you don't mind me asking?" he asked softly, looking at the Nurse with a concerned ex
pression. "Did something bad happen?" It had to have been something bad. Why would the trainer be crying?

Nurse Joy's ex
pression remained blank, taking her a few seconds to snap out of it. "Skitty? Huh?" She looked at the skitty's leg, and her head snapped up. "We have another!" she yelled into the back, and two chansey sprinted from the back, snatching the skitty and pulling it into the back room.
Your confused look must have given you away. "Haven't you heard?" she asked. She looked from side to side, and then leaned in closer to you. "It's... a virus. It's bringing pokemon back from the dead... and the dead are spreading."
From the back room, you heard a yowling noise, and then silence. "Don't worry, the infection on your skitty hadn't spread too much yet. After the amputation, it should be fine..."
"It doesn't effect dark types," whispered someone off to your right. "Or any of those strong against dark types. That means fairy, bug, and fighting types are safe too."
Nurse Joy nodded as he talked. "Or psychic types, but we don't know why for that one... But any other pokemon, unless the infection is caught fast enough..." A tear fell from her eye.

Gabriel's eyes widened before he looked up at Cynder and moved to hold her close. "Cynder has a dark type parent, will that help?" he asked, looking down at her worriedly. "I just got her yesterday and got started on my journey today..." He not his lip and looked up at the Nurse with wide eyes. "Is there anything that can be done? To stop the virus at all? Or make a vaccine from something?"

His hold on Cynder tightened slightly, the boy biting his lip lightly. "I...is there any way I can help at all? There has to be something that can be done, right?"

"A non-dark type with a dark type parent? Curious..." She bit her lip, thinking. "Well whatever is causing this problem must be stopped at the source. I suspect that those Team Psychosis psychopaths are behind it all. That would explain why psychic types aren't effected either... if it is a psychic type at the source."
A chancey pushed open the swinging doors in the back, nodding at Nurse Joy approvingly. "Wonderful, it seems your skitty will be fine, if a little mobility-challenged..."
A guard opened the door to the center behind you. "Everyone, move to the back rooms now! Hit the lights, lock the doors. A group of them are on their way!"
There was chaos in the center after that. People were screaming and running in every direction. You could see that the room the skitty is in had been abandoned. The room had two doors that closed, which would make it an ideal hiding place from any... undead pokemon.

Gabriel ducked into the room with the Skitty, biting his lip. He slowly moved towards the little cat pokemon, reaching out to stroke the bright pink fur. "You'll be okay from now on," he said gently, then looked over at the doors to close them, locking them and moving back to the Skitty, looking rather nervous.

Then he blinked and looked down at the Skitty again. "Hey, little Skitty. Would you like to come with me? I can help you since, um...you only have three legs now. I might even be able to find a way to get you a replacement or something." He reached out to stroke the little thing's fur again. "I'll keep you safe."

The skitty nodded, mewling weakly from the anesthesia. Its left back leg had been amputated from the hip, and its fur was shaved mostly around the surgery location. She (for she was a girl) pushed her head into your hand as you pet her, a sign of affection from cat-like pokemon. She seemed very grateful for you having saved her.
Off an on for the next few hours huddling in the surgery room, you would hear scratching and thumping on the pokemon center doors. The center was deathly quiet, for apparently the undead pokemon were attracted to noise.
It was a few hours before Nurse Joy came to the surgery room, letting you know it was safe to come out. The other trainers in the lobby area looked like they had seen a ghost. It was already dark outside. The center rented out free overnight rooms, but longer than one night costed money.
There was a famous boutique in the city specializing in hats. There was also a gym, a poke-mart, and a trainer's school. But being so late at night, and with undead pokemon around, it might not be the best decision to go wandering around. Still, it is your decision. You could ask others what they know, attempt to go exploring for yourself, get a room and wait until morning, or anything else you can think of.

((your skitty needs a nickname, and now also she will be able to get skill points at the end of each day!))

Gabriel gently scooped the little Skitty into his arms to start out of the room, looking around before smiling at the three-legged feline. "Do you like the name Delilah?" he asked gently, smiling a moment before he sighed softly. He should gather more information.

He headed out into the lobby, looking around. Who looked friendly enough to talk to without possibly belittling him? He'd really rather not have someone mock him with all of this going on.

Then he blinked and looked back at Cynder with a smile. "You can stay on my shoulder, Cynder. We should be okay with you bout of your pokeball if we stay in here until tomorrow."

In the lobby of the pokemon center were several groups of people, most, you realized, weren't even trainers. They were people who had left their homes to come and seek refuge here at the center.
There are several family groups, one a father and he two daughters, and one a mother and father and their baby. There was a girl who looked your age, crying in a chair, two boys who were whispering in heated conversation, and various trainers dotted here and there with grave looks on their faces, not speaking at all.
Nurse Joy was on the phone, this time with the police, but you couldn't tell what they were saying.
There were two guards by the door, standing at attention, emotionless faces.

It took a moment but with a soft exhale Gabriel stepped forward to sit beside the crying girl, setting Delilah on his lap. "Hey, miss, are you alright?" he asked gently, reaching out to gently rub the girl's back. Maybe he could at least help this girl somehow, even just make her feel a little better. She seemed so utterly upset after all.

"Is there maybe something I could do to help somehow?"

She looked up, saw your skitty, and smiled. "Such a cute pokemon..." she murmured. You notice her face is covered in small scratches, as if she had been running through branches or thorns. She reached out to Delilah, hovering her hand over Delilah's head. The skitty mewled and pushed her head into the girls hand, and she scratched behind her ear, happier for now at least.
"No, I don't think there's much you can do..." she said softly, lost in thought. "I'm the newest pokemon ranger in Central Kalos... and I saw the carnage firsthand... My partner and I made it out okay, but the poor trainers who were just too slow..." Her lip began to quiver. "Their pokemon were bitten, scratched, clawed... and lay dead on the ground. But we know now that they don't stay dead for long..."
"Ba?" squeaked something from below her seat.
"Oh, Natty, it's okay to come out," encouraged the girl. Out from under her chair hopped a little noibat, looking up at Delilah curiously.
The girl pushed her golden hair out of her eyes, looking you in the eye for the first time. "I'm Serenity."

Gabriel offered a small smile. "I'm Gabriel, and I'm a new Trainer so I know how you feel in that regard. The little Skitty is named Delilah and the Fletchling is named Cynder," he said before he blinked. "Delilah doesn't have a Pokeball yet, though. I haven't put her in one yet. She just got out out of her surgery and I wanted to make sure she's stay safe."

He blinked down at the Noibat then remembered his Pokedex and pulled it out to scan Delilah. "Do you, um...mind if I scan your Noibat?" He smiled sheepishly.

"No of course not," she said kindly. You scan the noibat, and then Delilah.
Delilah is a normal, female skitty, at level 8, with normal moves (growl, tail whip, tackle, foresight, and attract) but for one exception... she also knows the move Cosmic Power, a powerful psychic type move that sharply increases special defense.
That's curious...
Nurse Joy came up to the two of you, and Serenity asked about getting a room for the night. "So many people are here... we are at capacity. You will have to sleep in the pokemon holding rooms, on the surgery beds... I can bring you some blankets, is that okay?" This was addressed to both of you.

Gabriel looked up at the nurse, then smiled. "I don't mind at all," he responded. Then he looked back down at Delilah, tilting his head slightly. She knew such an odd move. Was it a possible egg move?

Then he blinked and looked up at the nurse. "Will she be able to adjust to three legs?" he asked softly, concerned with how she'd adjust.

Nurse Joy smiled down at you. "Four legged pokemon adjust awfully fast to three legs. Give her enough time to heal, and pokemon do heal awfully fast, and she will be running and playing almost like before."
"You can sleep in your skitty's surgery room, I'll pile up some extra blankets and pillows for you."

Gabriel nodded. "Thank you. Oh, by the way, can Skitty normally learn Cosmic Power?" he asked, looking curious as he stroked the furry bundle in his lap. He was awfully glad he'd chose to rescue her. She might not have survived on her own too Mich longer, and as long as she was with him he could make sure she stayed safe.

He glanced down at her then looked at Cynder to stroke her warm feathers, smiling when the little firebird snuggled up to the fuzzy pink feline. "I'm glad you two are getting along."

Nurse Joy paused just as she was starting to walk away. "No... that's not a normal thing. That's a very specific egg move, rarely found in a wild skitty..."
She shook her head, clearing her thoughts, and went to attend to the other trainers.
At this point it was getting close to 1AM. Serenity had gone back into the room Delilah had had her surgery in. There were multiple portable beds lining the walls that you could choose from, with sheets and blankets and pillows piled in neat stacks on all of them.

Gabriel blinked and glanced down at his Skitty before he moved to the surgery room. "Delilah do you want to be in a pokeball or out with me?" he asked gently, setting out a Pokeball once he got a bed set up and was resting on it. He kind of hoped she chose to stay out. He quite enjoyed cuddling.

Then he looked to Serenity And gave her a smile. "Will you be alright? After...everything today.. " He glanced down, stroking the cat in his lap.

((Don't forget that once you control a pokemon you role play most of its decisions and actions aside from battling!))

Serenity nodded, holding her noibat in her arms. "I think that not being out there alone is the best thing I could ask for..." she said, kind of avoiding the question of if she would be alright.
She began to make her bed, pulling the sheets around the edges of the portable mattresses, and laying out the blankets for her and her partner.
Pokemon rangers don't have pokeballs, you remember, they have partner pokemon, one of them, and that is it. They can enlist pokemon to help them, but only ever have one pokemon for themselves.
Your bed looks awful comfortable, especially with it being so late, and the room being so dim.
