Exuro was a little disappointed the cat appeared to dislike him, but decided it was to be expected. He was, after all, dangerous to almost any creature. The boy was wrong when he said his flames were damaging to the forest, though. He clearly didn't understand the ecology of the forest, or he'd know that fire was almost essential to the survival of the lush area. Still, it would require an explanation that was longer than he wanted to give, so he brushed it aside with a wave of his hand.

The boy's next words were amusing. So, he thought dragons demanded sacrifices? Maybe some, but not all. His people had done, but that practice had fallen out of use years ago. ''I demand for nothing. Many years ago, a king of this land chose sacrifices for my people by using a draw. It worked for many years, until his daughter was chosen. Before he released the news that she had been chosen, he declared women to be excluded from the draw, for 'inhumane practices'. After that, only males were left to be sacrificed for the sake of the village, but the king's offspring was at least safe.''

Exura gritted his teeth at the irritated tone of voice the boy used. What did he expect him to do? It wasn't his fault the humans decided that they had to sacrifice their young to the dragons. ''Oh? That would go down well. A dragon shifter, known as a monster that will snatch your children from their beds as they sleep, slaughter your livestock in their hundreds, murder your men and women, and burn your homes to the ground, just casually strolling into the village and having a chat with your leader? Of course, that would all go down perfectly.''

He sighed, leaning back and looking up to the quickly darkening sky. Pin-pricks of light were just becoming visible, the light illumination of the moon barely visible. It was getting late, and he'd have to head back soon. He didn't want any animals attacking his stuff while he was gone, after all.

''You don't understand anything about this, do you? ''Drop a piece of paper'' when I'm flying over? How exactly do you think that would work? Don't go blaming me for your unequal society and corrupted government. Did I ever say once this pleased me? Did I ever claim to take joy in the suffering of humans? I don't think so.'' He shook his head, standing up and stretching.

''Simply because something is different, your species almost always assume it's evil. Hate to say it, but a lot of the time, you're wrong. Deal with it.'' Despite his words, Exuro still held a hand out to the boy to help him to his feet, even if he doubted he would take it. ''Now, it's getting late. You can chose to come back to my home with me and spend the night in the vicinity of a dragon, or spend the night alone in the open. Your choice.''

Exura turned in the direction of his home, walking more quickly than he had been on his way down to the boy. While he was walking, he glanced briefly back to see if the lad was following, deciding it didn't matter if he followed or not. Not looking back again, he kept his eyes fixed ahead. ''So, you hungry?'' He asked, wondering if he would accept food from a dragon.

Exura shrugged his shoulders, deciding to think no more about it. Believing you were about to be eaten by a dragon, only to find you weren't, might put a lot of people off their food. Having had a lot to eat the day before, he decided not to bother with making anything. He saw the cavemouth of his home up the mountain trail, some bit away, and sped up a little.

Exura glanced back at the boy after he heard him fall, shaking his head with an amused smile at his lips. ''Are you alright?'' He asked, looking back ahead as they neared the cave mouth. When he reached it, he motioned for the boy to follow, before walking into the narrow tunnel. The fire must have gone out, for it was black as pitch within the cave, and had it not been for his eyesight being far more keen than a human's, he possibly wouldn't have known when the cave opened up into a cavern again.

Exura had been entering the main cavern when he felt something grip his arm tightly. At first, he tensed up, before he looked down to see it was the boy. From the aura he sensed, the human was scared. Oh, what a pity. Still, he figured he'd better do something. ''Calm down, kid. The only things in this cave are me and you.'' Walking on while ignoring the lad almost entirely, he looked at the pile of wood in the center of the cavern. It didn't look burnt out, so he wasn't sure why it went out. Probably some animal or something.

Taking a deep breath and tilting his head back ever so slightly, a faint clicking sound emitted from his throat and flames spat from his mouth and onto the wood. The room was immediately lit up, revealing the few things the dragon owned.

Exura chuckled softly under his breath, wondering why the boy insisted on being so frightened and freaked out. Ignoring the cat sniffing at the chest- that thing would never get in there, no matter how much it wanted to, and he had no intentions of opening it- and the boy that was in the room with him, he walked over to the strange set-up that was his sleeping quarters. Sitting down on the edge of the 'bed', he stared, transfixed, as the flames grew stronger and gained strength. It was beautiful, really. Fire.
