Damn... James thought. averting his gaze for a second. Adam is way too perceptive... He placed his hand on Adam's without even thinking about it, sort of a reflex. "I heard that you walk to work?" James asked, changed the subject. He knew he wasn't being himself, he was never himself, and it wasn't just him not announcing his sexual preferences. He was a completely different person than he led on.

"Yeah...I walk," Adam replied, turning his hand over to curl his fingers around James's. "I guess this wouldn't have happened if I had a car, huh?" He sighed, closing his eyes. "The world is a scary place...isn't it?" Indeed it was. A scary, scary place...where nobody was really safe...

"Yes it is..." James said, curling his own fingers around Adam's. "Which is way.... I think I should drive you to work." He told him, dead serious. He didn't want this to happen to Adam ever again and if he took him to work it wouldn't.

Adam reopened his eyes to look up at James, curiousity flickering within his blue eyes. "But you ride with Apex, don't you?" he asked. How was he going to drive him when he rode with someone else...? "And what about your job at the coffee shop?" He didn't want to interfere with James's work...

"I rode with Alex today because he offered... and I didn't want to be rude. No, I have a motorcycle." James explained. "And about work... I'm fast, I can get you to work and get back in time for my shift." He was sure of that, especially since the restaurant wasn't that far away.

Adam blinked, then smiled a smile he hadn't smiled in what felt like ages. It was a soft, warm, almost...innocent kind of smile. The kind of smile that made your eyes soften and warm as well. A smile that only his family had been able to see before now.
"Thank you, James..." he said softly, giving the other's hand a light, almost weak squeeze. The offer of a ride meant a lot to the injured male, especially after what had happened tonight.

"Its no problem really..." James said, averting his gaze for a second so that he didn't embarras.se himself by blushing at Adam's smile. He'd never seen him smile like that. "I don't want to see you like this again." He admitted, looking back at him. He felt partially responsible for this. If he had know more about his roommate he would have been driving him long ago. And he wouldn't have gotten hurt tonight.

Adam smiled even more, detaching his fingers from James's to allow his fingertips to rest against the other male's cheek, something he did often when he was tired. He'd reach up at night and just let his hand remain in midair, his fingers positioned in a way that it would seem as though he were touching something. Not even Adam knew why he did it. He just...did.

James was a little surprised when Adam touched his face. He let his own hand rest against the bed again with the other. He didn't entirely mind Adam's hand on his cheek, it was a little odd but that was ok. Everyone had their quirks. He could tell that Adam was getting tired and suddenly realized that it was past 2 in the morning, of course he was tired. "We can talk in the morning." He told him quietly. "I'll let you go to sleep now~"

After a moment, Adam let his hand return to its previous position at his side, giving a sudden, wide yawn, only to make a small, pained noise in the middpe, cutting him off. He winced, lifting his hand to rest it on his chest, curling his fingers into the fabric of the blanket that had been placed over him.
"Okay James... G'night..." he murmured, already starting to drift off.
(I'm reading a Snape/Harry fanfic that's cute without being too OOC. Cx)

(lol XD I like it when they're OOC but I think the author should get some credit for keeping them in character X3) James decided he was just going to stay here tonight and waited for Adam to fall asleep completely before he got up to get another chair. He put it in front of the other one and sat in the first resting his feet on the second and his chin on his hand.

Adam actually looked surprisingly peaceful for someone in his condition, his breathing soft. He was still smiling, too.

(My inner fangirl is having a squee-attack. ;U; Harry was on the floor reading a book, his head against Snape's knee, while Snape ran his fingers through Potter's hair. It's just so cute! X3

Adam let out a groan as he stirred, soon followed by rather audible noise of pain as he tried to curl up. He hated how things seemed to hurt worse the day after, and this was no exception. His entire body ached, his fingers curling into the fabric of the bed. It really hurt, and poor Adam wasn't exactly a masochist.
And he'd been having such a great dream, too.

James stirred to the sounds of Adam beside him and opened his eyes slowly. He was still in the general position he had fallen asleep in. He lifted his head off on his hand and stretched, feeling his body protest after sitting in the same position for so long. He glanced over at Adam, looking at hims for a few minutes. "You awake?" He asked quietly.

Adam glanced up at James, surprised that he was still there. "Y-yeah," he responded, shifting again to try and alleviate the pain he felt. But that only made it worse, causing Adam to squeak again, followed by a pained groan.
