November 14, 2010 - Vogar Revamp

The Vogar has received a revamp! It is available in all Natural and Dye Kit colors.

From the moment the egg of a Vogar hatches, there is one thing that any potential owner must expect; a vicious attitude. This attitude does not stem from anger, however, but from an amazingly large appetite. Small when first hatched, they grow rapidly, demanding copious quantities of meat every couple of hours in the first stage of their lives. If they do not get it, they are likely to attempt to eat anything that moves. It is highly unwise to leave a young Vogar alone for too long as the one who does so may return to find carnage in their Creatu's wake.

By the middle stage of their lives, the Vogar will more than triple in size. They become more malleable if they are handled with care, and will begin to respond with affection to those who have raised them. Their appetite is still enormous, and can still cause difficulties when they are not fed on schedule, but the number of meals per day will decrease substantially. By the time they reach adulthood, the attitude and the appetite both settle to a manageable amount. The adult Vogar may still have a temper that is not to be trifled with, but they become extremely valuable to those who have put such great effort into raising them.

Vogar are one of the strongest Creatu of any of the four planets, as well as being fairly fast and observant. They rely in keen vision and hearing to spot prey in the wild from an early age, which makes them prime companions for warriors. Impossible to train as an adult taken from the wild, the Vogar that is raised with care is loyal to a fault and readily accepts the duty to guard the home and property of their companions.

Yeah! Check out my Limegar
TokyoWolf - November 25, 2010
The only thing wrong I can see is the teens fins look a little misplaced. but other than that its a beautiful revamp, especially the adult! <3
Texan - November 24, 2010
Wow I love the vamp! I was'nt such a fan but now I can dye it I'm gonna make a lime one! Will I be the first? The art super good too
Puptea - November 21, 2010
who revamped them ?
TokyoWolf - November 20, 2010
For all of the 'its too cute' people. if you saw this thing in the woods at night, would you really go up and try to hug it? i actually enjoy living and wouldnt go near that thing cause of how scary it looks. i dont understand how its 'cute'
teravest - November 20, 2010
why couldn't you do a VOTE before changing it i don't like it now
lacie778 - November 19, 2010
im so happy they gave it a vamp i just cant wait for them to give a draqua a vamp
Shao - November 19, 2010
Vogar's officially return Shao's love for them XD Shao hatched her first bino (a vogar of course) on the day of the revamp :D I actually think the newer facial expressions bring out more of the vogar's attitude. The poses are around the same but they also express how vogar are, not really pets but guardians, strict and hard to love. Reminds me of my friend XD Well nice job to the artist (doesn't say who) and keep drawing, you have talent!
dodge - November 19, 2010
wow!!!i like it!it s soooo coooll
zebez - November 18, 2010
Zule, as an artist I need critque to improve. When someone just says "Oh how nice." it doesn't help me. At all. We shouldn't have to be absoultely thrilled over every new thing on the site either. Sure it's nice that they are doing this art for us but we don't have to happily take everything without any consideration of the quality. Otherwise we would be pretty mindless. Also "Can you draw better than that?" is a childish response to an argument. I used to say that in eigth grade when I couldn't take any constructive critism on my art. It takes the focus off the art work and puts it on the critic, which is not helpful if you are trying to improve your art. I realise not every piece of art will be "perfect" but perfect is an indefinate term. However, these creatures should have as near to correct anatomy as possible. And since this vogar seems to have some quite correctable anatomy flaws it looks as if it was something the artist simply didn't notice which means that maybe more time should have been spent examining the art. Editing is part of the artistic process.
Sandshrew - November 18, 2010
Zuleika: critique leads to improvement, the artists should know what users don't like about the art so that they can hopefully fix the problem and also look out for that sort of thing in the future, this is a professional site, and the purpose of a revamp for a pet is to improve the art while retaining the spirit of the old pet. If a person isn't satisfied when their pet/character, which they may have spent many hours on getting, is revamped to something they don't like, they have a right to complain. And no, the art doesn't have to be perfect, but it should be as well-done as possible, and if something is off people are free to point that out so that the artists can learn and improve.
23ilovejesus - November 18, 2010
Ooooo
Oz - November 18, 2010
I agree with Zu on this one. They're very cute pets. No, they're not perfect, but perfection is incredibly boring. So stop complaining just because the artists are trying to improve the site.
Fiery - November 18, 2010
I love you Zu <3
Zuzu - November 18, 2010
I wonder if all the people who complain about the revamps go marching around the site, inspect ever last piece of art work there is, and critique it? I mean, I hardly hear complaints about the old creatus art like this, about whether the anatomy is perfectly correct, whether the coloring and shading is precise, blah blah blah. So why does this artwork deserve to be complained about more? I barely look at pets in the much detail, I glance over it and think either I like this kind of pet or I dont like it. But I am pretty sure that the old pet art had just as many imperfections in it as the revamps do, if not more, and that is because artists are not perfect. They simply do the best they can. And this artwork has been passed through the system, and I bet many people had to approve it first, therefore it must be of a pretty good standard. Also, here is a reason why this website has such a diverse range of pets is because not everyone is going to like every type of pet. And no one is making you play this game, you do so by choice, so why should you complain when the artists are actually trying to make improvements? I know that constructive criticism can be helpful to artists, but when you get right down to it, does it really matter so much that the new vogars third spike is a little off position or whatever? Does the art have to be absolutely perfect, down to the blemish on the claw of the smallest toe on the left back leg of the teenage form of the creatu? I think that before anyone make a comment on the new art they should ask themselves this: can you draw better than that? If you cant, then you should be relatively happy that you have these lovely people to draw these pretty things for you to play with. If you can draw better than this and you still want to complain, then why are you still here? You could simply draw your own perfect pets and stare at them all the day long, and theyll be just as real as the pets on this website are.
Brodee - November 17, 2010
stage two is cuter and stage three is pretty much the same, so cred on that. Still kind of awkward looking but at least the teeth look good! And about the baby....I liked the older one better :
kitten0822 - November 17, 2010
I know, but it's too cute to have any teeth now XD before you could assume it had teeth.
LaCortori - November 17, 2010
Spines could definately have been better placed, and the new ones look stuffed, not smooth and sleek like the last ones. I was in love with the old vogars and just finnished my collection when it got revamped later in the day. Bummer, I really don't care for the new one at all, but I guess the old ne won't ever come back, will it? I at least hope that they revamp it again, and it turns out better. Sorry staff, I'm sure you spent a long time on it, but now I'm selling my collection. :P
MiaViper - November 17, 2010
quote: "but the baby is too un-toothy to me." - you are aware that the old baby was not showing any teeth as well? XD ----- i personally just realised why Eddi seemed strange now. Before revamp the hind legs (feet) where realy wide spread. Now they stand (REALY) close together. And that's the part where my brain tells me he needs to use the toilet *snorts* i've got a strange brain. XD ----- different artists = different styles. As well as drawing something new = easier than keeping something old 'the same'. (Artist =/= Magican) ...Even though i'd hate that, i start to wish for staff to just decide to change all Pets completely with revamps (gives the artists more freedom to draw poses how they are used to) instead of trying to please the users by relining/correcting, since apparently: it. does. not. work! XD
Daisy98 - November 17, 2010
I'm not saying I hate it. :x I'm just not as fond as this revamp compared to the older ones, But I still think this is decent enough, and have to give the artist a pat of the back, because although it seems a bit odd and like the old one, It's very well drawn and detailed. Good job, Artist. ^^
poolparty - November 17, 2010
im going to sell mine now
poolparty - November 17, 2010
i dont like it
zebez - November 16, 2010
Oh and one more thing about the anatomy. I'm going to agree with Sandshrew about the eyes. The baby's eye are place correctly but most animals eyes sit above cheek muscles. The eyes on this vogar rest a little too low, sitting in the jaw muscle.
felineLOVER - November 16, 2010
meh.
ipod2259 - November 16, 2010
I liked the old Vogar better, but this a very nice.....
kitten0822 - November 16, 2010
It looks fairly nice, but i'm glad the Jakku isn't revamoed, otherwise i would request something to change the "sprite" The baby is very cute, but it isn't as vogar-y anymore. the rest still fit the vogar, but the baby is too un-toothy to me.
Funlover6 - November 16, 2010
o.O Woah. I did not see that coming...? I honestly have no idea what to say. The style of rescreatu art is deffinatly changing drastically... and frankly, I believe I miss the other version of vogar, but maybe I just need to get used to the new style. Also, I agree with horselova as well as a few others *read the previous comments*, there is no need to comment rudely on the revamps... I mean, yeah its different... but hey, isnt different something to cherish? I mean if all things were the same, wouldnt it just get boring after a bit? But I do suppose everyone has a title to their own opinions. Overall, congrats artists!
Outsane - November 16, 2010
Just to clarity, staff do not discourage the freedom of expressing one's opinion so long as it is expressed in a "positive" way. This means comments such as "This is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. You guys really suck." are not acceptable. While comments like "I don't like this revamp at all. :/" are alright, though it's nice if you offered up details and gave constructive criticism as to why you don't like the revamp. (Saying "It's too cute!" doesn't help.) Sandshrew's and zebez's posts are perfect examples on how to convey your feelings about the revamp if you don't like it. We want to know why you don't like it and how we can do better next time.
zebez - November 16, 2010
So stylization trumps anatomy? Look at the way the fins are aligned down the spine of the teen. Acutally they're not. And the placing of the top fin on the head isn't consistant either. Really these are minor and the previous vogar had it's flaws as well but I am going to suggest this. From what I have read on the artist application, artists get about a month to complete a project right? Maybe there should be more time alotted for editing. Maybe take a step back from the work for about a week or two and really examine the anatomy and stylization. The two really can get along and go hand in hand. And just because it isn't IRL omgomgomg, doesn't mean you can't make it believable with correct anatomy. I mean just look at the cyid. Well done anatomy but it has some odd feature like the stone in its head and the extra pair of fins. And it works.
Sandshrew - November 16, 2010
... I forgot that comments can't be broken up into paragraphs.
Sandshrew - November 16, 2010
We're allowed to dislike revamps for pets we once cherished, bros. This is a pet site. The pets and art for them are the main focus. If the pet art is heading in a direction we don't like, we have a right to voice our thoughts on the matter. And why wouldn't people leave over a site replacing the images of pets we love with new pictures we're not as fond of? This whole site is about collecting pets. Why would we collect pets we don't like? The colors are quite lovely on some of these, although I think a different shade should've been used for the lighter green on the natural -- it's a bit hard to look at. I like the shading on the baby and adult, but something about the middle stage's shading bothers me; it looks more plastic somehow. The eyes look a little weird but the expressions are nicely done. And I'm sorry, but I find the art on this site inconsistent, and I don't mean old vs. new. Some of the pets are really beautifully drawn with excellent details and texture, and some fairly recent pets look like they belong on an entirely different site, with simplistic, thick line work and plastic-looking shading.
HeraldMage - November 16, 2010
Well guys I was just stating my opinion. I can do that, right? And while I understand how you think quitting is a bit immature (I mean, this /is/ a pet site and if I don't like the pets, then why stay...?), at least I'm not throwing profanity around and outright saying the artist needs to die or anything. Maybe I am overreacting over it, maybe this just isn't for me anymore, I don't know. I just thought I'd throw my two cents in. Chill out.
MiaViper - November 16, 2010
Eddi looks... kinda strange. XD He stayed the same (mostly, even pose-wise) and still is so very different now. Yay for new colors! ^^ Lime is awsome, as is Indigo, Amber, ... *trails of* --- Teens neck seems off, spikes are kinda pointed in strange directions too, but that IS some hard angle to draw (the artist is probably still cursing them in mind XD) overall well done i'd say. ^^ --- Jz, you have Gondras in your Backyard? Cool! =D
Jzbelle - November 16, 2010
Paige, I'm covering Oni's ears now. There's nothing more pitiful than a disillusioned Jaaku. :(
paigecam - November 16, 2010
Dude. There are no such things as actual gondras and tesuri and vogar, just to let you know. Oh, and btw, my comment wasn't bagging on this revamp. I like it very much. It's not much different then the old vogar, anyway. I don't see what the big deal's about.
FlippyxEvil - November 16, 2010
I have to say that this revamp is good, the baby looks more like the description than the last on if you ask me. Also the adult looks more proud and like it's standing tall, showing the others that it is not to be messed with, fantastic job ^^
Shadowsong - November 16, 2010
I agree. Theres no need to be so rude and call it "retarded" and other names. People shouldnt be so immature, just state your opinion.
Jzbelle - November 16, 2010
Whoa there, let's be nice. :) We can disagree with someone's opinion and still be polite. No need to call names.
whatever6551 - November 16, 2010
I agree with Horselova. You all need to suck it up. :/ The revamp is awesome in my opinion, and just because you don't think so doesn't mean to quit the site. Seriously you guys, be a little mature. O.o Last I checked, this whole place wasn't just a hoard of rotten ten year olds.
Jzbelle - November 16, 2010
What are you saying Fizz?!? They shouldn't be "cartoony"! They should look like the REAL Vogars (and Gondras...and Tesuri...). Like that Gondra I saw in my backyard the other day. They should look like that. Pfft. You'd think they were a made-up species on a virtual game site or something, the way you're talking. (Zomg...Gondra in my backyard! Over there! THROW THAT ROSE DYE KIT AT IT!)
Fizzeh - November 16, 2010
This is the new site style. I'm VERY disappointed to find so many members insulting the revamps. Every single time a pet is revamped, someone starts having a tantrum over it. "Oh it's too cutesy!! Change it back!" I don't see where this pet is cutesy at all. It's a dinosaur looking animal with a snarl and a scowl. The artists work very hard on these revamps! Yes, it's going to be different. But revamping pets like this is what will provide consistency for the site. If that means having slightly larger than life proportions and some kooky poses, so what? This is Res, and I really wish some people would appreciate the art and say thankyou along with their opinions at some point. I'm not saying you have to like it. No, but jeez, if you're going to make a comment at least make it worthwhile reading instead of it being a few sentences of just insulting the art and the artist. As for quitting because of a few revamps... Lol. I can't even find the words to comment properly on that. :
Shinrai - November 16, 2010
The new one seems more reserved and less proud than the previous. :/
haleyhorror - November 16, 2010
I absolutely LOVE the egg. The adult and baby look nice. Don't like the middle stage too much. I prefer the old vogar really, but good job anyways..
Sandshrew - November 15, 2010
I'm not especially impressed. Usually it's nice to have updated art, but this... doesn't seem like a lot of an update. The shading looks plastic with some dots thrown in, the spikes on the teen look really weird, and something about the face bothers me. The art on here seems to be getting more and more cartoony/cutesy as time goes on.
iheartyou919 - November 15, 2010
Well, I like it. It captures the essence of the vogar well. Plus, this vogar is actually interesting.
Lauren10 - November 15, 2010
This comment has been censored due to a violation of website rules.
Midnightclaw - November 15, 2010
it looks almost the same as the other one. I dont like it that much.
Shadowsong - November 15, 2010
didnt change very much...... Im not espeshally happy about it, but its not to bad.
thenombersoo - November 15, 2010
Its not much of a change, but I like it, especially the adult's face. Drindians are the ones that could really use a revamp though.
Daisy98 - November 15, 2010
... I see no difference between old and new. :x Except for a few touch-ups. The positions are exactly the same in all of them.
Dragonite8 - November 15, 2010
*gape* I think this is the best revamp I have seen! XD Wonderfully done! :D I love it. *flees to buy/find vogar eggs*
BlueBunny - November 15, 2010
Sweet! Although I don't really see a difference in the adults lol... The egg is so pretty! :)
prianamagix - November 15, 2010
Oh and also, the cream looks a lot like sepia. It's tan and green. The vogar's sepia is darker than the vogar's cream, but it sorta looks like there are two sepias. xD
prianamagix - November 15, 2010
Darkfire: Agreed. Totally. I used to LOVE the teen. Now the spikes on it...just weird. Plus it doesn't look as ferocious, one of the things I loved about it. Now my blonde teen vogar, Cae, looks weird. -.- I may even sell her. And also: this is not really about the style but the blonde now has blue in it. o_o I hate the yellow and blue types of blonde.
spyro133 - November 15, 2010
For the love of God, do Drindians next PLEASE!!!
whatever6551 - November 15, 2010
I like it! This is one of my favorite ravamps since the gondra (though I like the paor too). The vogar was one of my first pets, and just yesterday I was wondering if they would revamp it. :D So yay! Good job artists!
HeraldMage - November 15, 2010
Not to be rude or anything, but I'm thinking about quitting, just because of most of these revamps. I'll be honest, if they looked like this back when I first joined, I don't think I would have stayed long, mostly because there are already so many cutesy virtual pet sites. I do like some of the revamps, but a majority of them make me wanna abandon half my pets. I guess it might seem like I'm bashing the artists or whatever, but they just don't do it for me. Kudos to those that adore 'em.
paigecam - November 15, 2010
The teen has a fat neck. o3o
pinkystry - November 15, 2010
Finnaly! I've been waiting for the Vogars to be revamped for a long while. This is a revamp that I'm happy with. :)
iloveadamlambert - November 15, 2010
i liked the old vogars better ? but this is still cool :)
Outsane - November 15, 2010
There are no "old ones". The images were revamped so all the Vogars on the site look this way. (:
supernovastar - November 15, 2010
nice... :D
TeamEdward1 - November 15, 2010
Does this mean the old ones are rare???
RainofStars - November 15, 2010
Cool! I like the coloring. And the muscles :) I'm glad it wasn't changed too drastically. Thank you!
larkspurlane - November 15, 2010
The baby looks feisty, like he wants to wrestle somebody.
HoshikoYoukai - November 15, 2010
love it!
April - November 15, 2010
Love the revamp. My vogars thank you.
Darkfire62 - November 15, 2010
The description is great, and I wanted a revamp, but the teen stage used to be my favorite and now it just looks wrong. The baby has better art, but the nose is like a dog nose. I don't think it would look quite like that if the line hadn't been drawn so far, but I guess we're probably going to have to deal with it and this new cartoonified style despite that res was supposed to be a more sophisticated pet site not centered around little kids. *sigh*
Yaizhbeen - November 15, 2010
Yeah, the dog nose hit me a bit too on the baby, even before reading the comments. But it's not so disturbing on the other ages ^^. Altogether I like this revamp. Good job! I love the adult, I think it is muscular enough (the old vogar was unnaturally bulky in my opinion). And the egg and dye colours are epic.
prianamagix - November 15, 2010
It's epic that they can be dyed but I really do like the old vogar better. Especially the teen. The spikes look a little...weird. Why is everything now being cartoonified?
prianamagix - November 15, 2010
OMG
cyaniderain - November 15, 2010
i love how it just looks like a prettified version of the old one. thank you so much! :) i will love my black vogar even more now.
Zada2011 - November 15, 2010
I do think the artist could have taken a bit more time in the placement of some of the spines and the anatomy but over all I don't think it's that bad. The shading is very nice and I like the muscling. YOu can tell that the vogar still has a bit of a temper from the teenage form. The legs on the adult to look a bit too bulky and I wouldn't have sharpened up the claws but honestly it's not horrible like everyone's saying. I do wish it look a bit less soft with a bit more fierceness.
eve56506 - November 15, 2010
i hate it now it looks like a stuffed toy i wish it would have stayed the same i liked the old vogar better
Life - November 15, 2010
I like the old vogar better. ._.
AmuletAnders - November 15, 2010
I like the old vogar better. oAo
Ero - November 15, 2010
Noooo. :<
Spook - November 15, 2010
-LOVES IT- It looked so pretty before. This has officially made my day.
Shinrai - November 15, 2010
It looked more muscular...now it reminds me of a puppy. :P
Shinrai - November 15, 2010
Ehh...I liked the previous version...
mythcreature - November 15, 2010
The dog nose is easiest to spot on the baby. Differences are the snout/nose was turned into a dog's, the adult has an eyebrow raised like its asking a question and the spikes on the neck in the teen are just plain wrong. Looks like it got into some deforming acident then the adult had corrective surgery before striking his pose for the pic. The jaw and skull on the teen are also off somehow. and the cute I refered to before is mostly in the baby, but seems they are trying to smooth it into the teen and adult as well. Badly.. No offense, everyone has different tastes and styles of art I'm sure, but this is not something I'd suggest pointing out.
KiRAWRa - November 15, 2010
It looks great, more beastly and ferocious than the old one! Not sure what people are saying about a dog nose, looks more like it's got slits like a lizard but kind of razes up into a snarl. Thanks xeeroh! C:
SmileyMB - November 15, 2010
it looks weird
Emile - November 15, 2010
Hm, not much of a difference, doesn't seem right for some reason.
ruthie22410 - November 15, 2010
it looks pretty much the same...
AquaAmbar - November 14, 2010
I think it's cool that it's revamped but seriously... The Drindian, that's who really needs a revamp!I've been waiting for that to happen for quite a long time... But this is nice art anyway, thanks you artist!
fizzyizze - November 14, 2010
Its alright. ^^ I love the art. I do miss the sparkles.
Alchemist - November 14, 2010
I don't think it looks cuter. e.e I think its a good re-vamp.Thanks artists. C|
meblackitty - November 14, 2010
i think it also looks a bit more like a dog and not enough of a dinosaur
meblackitty - November 14, 2010
looks the same really, baby looks a bit cuter though
Outsane - November 14, 2010
How does it look more cute? o_O I think it has the same ferocity as before. If not more.
mythcreature - November 14, 2010
What was wrong with it before the revamp? and why did the artist make it more cute? :[ There are tons of cute ones already we don't need another. Change it back.
Mars - November 14, 2010
FFFFF I did not WANT a Vogar revamp. T~T Even though I like the Rose, the Azure, the Albino...
ShadowWolf199 - November 14, 2010
Maan, The ginger looks more sepia. Doesn't Ginger mean RED?

Love, love, love this to pieces! It keeps with the aura of the old while adding much needed updates and I absolutely adore the colors! Thank you artists! And of course, the new description is beautifully written as always.
KitKate - November 14, 2010
Love it I like the dogish nose thing on the middle age :) make's it look more like it's snarling
AriaKaye1 - November 14, 2010
I do love the egg though! (staying positive) Thanks for all the work artist, you guys are great:)
AriaKaye1 - November 14, 2010
Aww,I am gonna miss My Vogars.
Yoshi - November 14, 2010
Yeh. I agree on the dognose thing. But it makes me really glad that they're still just as muscular and angry as ever - if not even more. Now they look more aggravated than annoyed. xD
WolfieBelle - November 14, 2010
EPIC!
