Updates

September 20, 2023 - What's Next during the Event Pause!

Now that events are officially paused, it's time to get rolling! 💪

Our first major milestone is addressing key website areas, starting with revamping the Hatchery, Egg Marketplace, and Tutorial for new users. We're also evaluating other important site areas, planning new content, and refining our processes.

While we'll be sharing monthly progress updates and feature/content releases, please note that our initial timeline may be slow as we plan our year ahead.

Halloween is coming up and will be open from

October 1 - 31!

Jaaku & Ebilia seasonal egg hunts, finding Curse of the Undead via Explore, Amber & Orchid dye color hatches, and The Lair will be available during this time. There will also be a way to find items that are obtained only from the Halloween event.

Other major events will be ran in a similar way during the pause. However, the Advent Calendar and Secret Santa will absolutely be included in the Winter event! Most mini events will be skipped during this hibernation period, but Derp day during April Fools will definitely be happening.

We'll update you on each event's pause plan as they arise.

We've disbanded the Development team for now, reintegrating its members into their original departments:

Content Management (CM) and Writing.

This change reflects a more accurate representation of our staff, as the term 'development' traditionally pertains to coding developers and designers, which doesn't encompass the roles within this area of team.

Heads up: Exciting news!!

Name Clearings will happen on Black Friday in a whole new way than ever before!

Names are precious on Rescreatu, and we're committed to a fairer name redistribution system, granting everyone equal access to this exclusive "name real estate."

This will become a regular weekly occurrence giving you a chance at some cool pets or names, when available!

How it will work:

1) The time limit that an account is marked as inactive will be reduced from 7 years to 5.

2) Cleared Creatu will first be relocated to the official NameClearings account showroom.

3) A new Weekly Raffle page will be introduced, where you can purchase non-refundable tickets (limited to 1 per Creatu) over a week, ensuring fairness across all time zones.

4) Raffle winners receive their pet automatically after the weekly deadline.

5) Unclaimed Creatu will be made available in the account's Rancher shop.

6) In the event that certain pets remain unsold for an extended period, they will be released in the Atqueen Forest.

7) This cycle repeats weekly, with the next batch on display in advance.

8) To sum it up: Cleared Creatu up next will be viewable for a week, followed by a week-long raffle. Unsold pets go to the Rancher until sold or discarded.

This means once a week you can check the current raffles, upcoming cleared pets for the next raffle, AND the rancher shop!

Please note the Raffles and Rancher shop prices can not be shared as they will be continually analyzed and developed until Black Friday. Share your guesses with us!

Our goal with this approach is to address recent inflation concerns by encouraging tu spending, especially in response to the Book Quest's high payouts. Further quest adjustments are in the works and will be announced soon as well.

We're excited to enhance the name-clearing experience and promote a better, balanced economy for all!

Yay I like this idea for the pet names. :)
Juke - September 22, 2023
@Bowie at this time we are planning to not put a cap on how many tickets are bought and keeping it limited to one ticket purchase per pet
Bowie - September 22, 2023
Is there going to be a limit on how many creatu you can buy a raffle ticket for? I am worried that this will still be a way for the rich players to continue the cycle of a broken economy because they will be able to afford more chances of winning more creatu, while users who have less tu may need to pick just one or two or something.
Wanderland - September 22, 2023
Thanks @Juke I'll keep an open mind on the new clearings mechanism. On another note, thanks staff for continuing some of the major events we all love, amongst all the site development work :)
ribunny123 - September 21, 2023
I appreciate how fair the name clearing idea seems.
Juke - September 21, 2023
@Tututu - we're actively looking at old and retired items :] No solid plans yet so don't get too excited, but they are on the docket!
tututu - September 21, 2023
Perhaps reintroduce regression ray at 6 bil and retired books at 500mil - 1bil each as these are the prices, I'm seeing now.
Metaphor - September 21, 2023
ahhhhh ok, I'm putting name clearings on the calendar this time and will not miss them haha
Kamii - September 21, 2023
I have one question unsure if anyone already asked this so if so I apologize...if there's names someone wants on a banned/inactive account of 5yrs+ but those names aren't in the clearing showroom, can we request them?
Juke - September 21, 2023
@Wanderland -- Thanks for bringing some of this up! In short, the new method was done in order to ensure fairness across the entire userbase. Staying up late before work/school is incredibly unhealthy and we on staff recognized that. This method allows for a full week to buy single tickets for the raffle and it will be 100% automated in much the same way the current tu weekly raffle is.
XerxesTexasToast - September 21, 2023
Ooh! I am so pleased to hear that egg hunts are staying! I thought the event pause applied to every event-associated feature.
Trenthepunkid - September 21, 2023
Best update! Very excited for revamps and new stuff!
Iluvu - September 21, 2023
I'm excited to see all the new stuff tho
Iluvu - September 21, 2023
More tu sinks great (Is always broke on here because I don't spend enough out of my day on here to habe billions like other long time players)
Vol - September 21, 2023
This is great news, so happy to see Rescreatu getting all it's ducks in a row. I hope to hear news of a battle system in development. I also think the library and collections need some fleshing out. Thanks for all the hard work and making users feel heard.
Avedori - September 21, 2023
Woo! This is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to see the first round of this and how it all goes.
Symbiote - September 21, 2023
I'm REALLY excited for this new version of the name clearings! It's going to be so fun!
Wanderland - September 21, 2023
This may be an unpopular opinion but I'd like to put it out there that I prefer the old name clearing mechanism atm. The old mechanism allows players who really want the name to put in the effort of staying up late regardless of timezones. So they probably deserve and really treasure the name (not saying this applies to everyone). If the previous painpoint was to make the mechanism more balanced for users in different timezones, then why not have multiple name clearings at different specified times (timing and specific names cleared are communicated beforehand) or even put a cap on the number of names that users can grab per clearing? This saves users sleeptime as they just have to set an alarm before the scheduled clearing for the names that they want. Don't get me wrong, I was also up in wee hours of the night for hours without sleep while I had school/work early in the morning next day, just to grab some of the names I really wanted. This effort made me treasure the names even more and though it made the name clearings more competitive, it also increased the challenge and fun of it. The new mechanism relies on "luck". This is a very uncontrollable and intangible method as compared to "effort". I'd like the mechanism to be something I have more control over. I won't feel as disappointed in failing to get a name due to "effort" than "luck". It also begs the question of transparency, how will the raffles be conducted to ensure fairness for all users? Can we be sure that the raffle algorithm is fair for all? Let's say 140 users (half of all users in the past 24 hours) all raffle for the same popular name, your chances of getting the name is 0.7%. You'll have a much higher chance of getting the same name with the old mechanism because some users might prioritise other names first, site lag or whatever. Just trying to raise my views here, please don't burn me ^^".

Sorry didn't read the update properly, feel bad about the previous post..
Fuzzball_NZ - September 20, 2023
Hi guys, just out of curiosity, will the number of tickets be capped in anyway ie, 10 per day for each pet and on a users account or will the pet have a ticket buy limit per account? so that everyone has an equal opportunity at each pet?.
Silverstream94 - September 20, 2023
Also, any word on Magical Grab Bag releases? Are those going to be suspended during this time, or is that still up in the air?
Silverstream94 - September 20, 2023
It sounds like this method will allow glitch names to remain in the game, which is cool. It also sounds like the winners of a given name will get the pet it's on too? I remember someone saying that the reason the pet were deleted initially was that there were a lot of "hacked" pets in the clearings, and no way to ensure that they were legit. Is that an incorrect though, or are there going to be safeguards against it?
wolfspirit25 - September 20, 2023
Thanks for your answers to all of those questions! I have a lot of curiosity about how pets will be priced, but seeing as most of the "expensive" names will likely be raffled anyway I'm not as concerned about the pets not being priced for name, especially since I agree it's a very inaccurate method. I'm also super glad to hear that it'll be fully automated. That'll mean that plenty of inactive accounts that would otherwise possibly be overlooked might get cleared out as well. Very excited to see how the balance of how many pets end up in the showroom at a time works and how this raffle ends up working in general!
Evelyan - September 20, 2023
What about items at these accounts? Some older players can have really rare items and them sitting there forever or getting destroyed is such a waste.
crowflux - September 20, 2023
@wolfspirit25: Thank you for sharing your careful insight as always!! 🙏 The entire process is indeed intended to be automated so that it's not reliant on staff labor to function in a consistent, timely manner. While we're still working on the pricing, it is our current standing that basing prices on names would be a highly subjective and inaccurate method. Banned accounts (indefinitely) are still being considered for how they might fit into this process, but at this time they are not technically included. However, that may change as we develop this further. I appreciate you bringing up the prospect of avoiding putting cheated pets back into circulation-- I agree. That is definitely something to keep in mind!
Shinigami - September 20, 2023
Uhhh (;▽;) what
wolfspirit25 - September 20, 2023
I have a few concerns as well, but let me first start by saying I'm really glad name clearing is at least less stressful, unhealthy, and divide-causing when done like this. Some of my concerns have already been stated in other comments so I won't go over those, but I do find it hard to see how this is less work for staff. They have to find the inactive accounts and grab the names (or is that part automated? That'll be a huge first batch I suppose but I'd 100% prefer if that part was automated). Then, for anything that isn't claimed via the raffle they have to price all of those names/pets every single week. Name prices can be so subjective too so how is stuff going to be fairly/consistently priced at all times? I'm glad this is only the inactive accounts (I think I saw that in the SB at some point) and banned ones aren't included because it'd be so easy for cheated things to end up back in the system. However, that brings up a question of "what about the names on banned accounts?" I'm keeping hopeful about it but I would definitely prefer some sort of automated system that doesn't take up any staff time so it can be used on more productive things than inactive account hunting or name pricing with no subjectivity that covers both inactive and banned accounts and doesn't necessarily feed those pets back into the system.
crowflux - September 20, 2023
@Akechi: Thank you for asking such great questions! I'm replying to you here as well so that others can see this too. 1) Currently, we're aiming to disallow players buying raffle chances from others. However, we'll continue to analyze as we develop this feature. 2) We're wanting this to be as fair as possible. The idea is that pets that end up in the Rancher will be pets that have gone to raffle and no one bought a ticket for. 3) At this time, ticket purchases will be solely with tu.
Haku - September 20, 2023
I'm really happy that the name clearing process is getting an overhaul :) It sounds like this way, not only are the names getting new life but also the creatu they're attached to? That is super exciting! I also have concerns with established users taking advantage of this system as Akechi pointed out below. I do think this system is more accessible to newer or less wealthy users, but there seems to be some places that can still be exploited and might warrant some more thoughts.
Akechi - September 20, 2023
I have a couple of concerns about this system. 1) What practices are in place to ensure a single user doesn't buy out or sway the scale in their favor, IE by causing others to purchase raffle tickets for them, etc.? 2) Similar to above, what practices are in place to ensure one user doesn't simply buy out the entire rancher shop of names? 3) Will tickets be in CP, tu, otherwise? Thank you.
Halloween - September 20, 2023
Interesting. There was too much anxiety with the past name clearings, and lack of sleep. Glad something nice was done about it. And, thank you for not ditching holidays completely!
