A new Pet Spotlight will be announced via News Update around the
1st of every month.

Those who get their first feature will recieve:

A Trophy, a Forum Avatar, and a Pet Spotlight Prize Bag!

(Each subsequent feature will reward you with a prize bag too.)

Please check our guide and FAQ for more details, as well as to get any pet page help you need!

How to Enter

Enter the Creatu you’d like to show off by sending an Rmail to PetSpotlight!

The subject line should include “Spotlight entry” PLUS your Creatu’s Name.
(Example: “Spotlight entry - Snowball”)

Within the Rmail, provide a link to your creatu’s petpage.

You may send up to 10 pets at once for consideration, provided each is in its own separate rmail.

Users are notified both for acceptance and denial. If the page is denied, the Rmail will list the reasons why.

Remember that the page needs to follow all site rules as well – if your pet page contains certain swears, slurs, or bigoted or graphic writing, it is grounds for an automatic rejection.

Double check your page before sending it in for review. Common reasons for rejection can be easily remedied!

Petpages will be reviewed at least once more before being posted in an update.

If a petpage has been edited between initial acceptance and being posted, it may delay posting depending on the changes made. We do ask that all users notify PetSpotlight of any edits and changes made via the same Rmail thread used to submit your page.

Should any new changes cause a page to become disqualified, you will be Rmailed with an explanation and a list of criteria that the new page fails to meet. Once you have fixed these issues you may resubmit, but it may be some time before your page is selected for spotlight once again.

Once you’ve been featured in a Spotlight, you are not eligible for the next one.

At this time, we allow (and encourage) multiple entries per user, but please only send in one per rmail, up to 10 at a time. Once your entry has been accepted into the spotlight queue or rejected and details given, you may enter another one. However, even with multiple entries, users are not eligible for back-to-back Spotlight wins.

Spotlights are chosen at random – there is no bias, judging, or voting.

How to get Accepted

Adjustment to the Page Design

Some kind of change to the page design and/or layout is necessary, whether that’s changing the text box, the background, the font, or another aspect.

You may use a custom overlay that is not an OAK and is visible only via coding, or you may use the default pet image – either is fine so long as there is a pet graphic of some kind.

Do not falsify a pet’s name, color, or species on your page. If your writing has a main character with a different name it is okay to use it so long as you are not trying to claim your actual pet has a different name.

A page needs at least 150 characters of information beyond the code – this can be a story, poetry, your take on an interesting topic, etc.

If your writing is based on fact and not fiction please make sure to not only rewrite it using your own terms, but also to credit and cite your sources!

Song lyrics may be used to pad out your writing so long as they do not make up the bulk of the page and are properly credited as well.

Please make sure to utilize proper grammar and spelling! We do allow for differences between UK and US English, but it does need to be consistent.

More writing is not necessarily better, but it may allow your ideas to shine through more effectively. Keep your story length in mind when creating your page.

Credit everything!

Even if you made it yourself! This includes images and art, information, and ideally any coding help you may have received.

If you're having trouble finding stock photos for backgrounds and page elements, we reccommend the following websites; Vecteezy, Stocksnap, NASA, The Library of Congress, Creative Commons, or Openverse. These do still need crediting and a link back to the particular page if possible. Google, Imgur, Pinterest, Instagram, Discord, and other image aggregate sites are not allowed to be used as a credited source.
Rehosting images to these websites is allowed so long as the source is linked back for crediting.
