Ashdog- uraniumUmbra explained the titles to the new players and mentioned that some roles, like Knights and Princes, are gender-specific (and those two are male only.)

Actually, BowEcho. The wiki says 'seems to be usually or exclusivly'. That isn't a solid answer. It seems whoever made the wiki-article doesn't even know that one for sure, not with the knights.

xD There's a point when you can use speculation with male adjectives (like 'Knight' is assigned to males; women knights are usually specifically called "lady knights") to assign gender-specific roles to the titles. The wiki is upkept by not only hardcore fans but a few of the Homestuck staff xP
So yes, it's not 100%. But we can assume that it's correct. ^^
Not saying you can't use the ti
tle, of course, but it's something to keep in mind if you're interested in making your ti
tle canon. |

Okay so thirteen-year-old Jake and Dirk are really adorable???
I guess they just had more time to goof off and be silly back then. x3 And not worry about romance so much.
Well. Except for Jake who seems to think (or maybe more of know) everyone's in love with him, but. xD It doesn't seem like there's as much tension about it or anything.
I kind of wonder what a younger Roxy was like. She's already pretty okay with goofing off..

..... Admittedly I've fallen pretty behind too. eheh. The only reason I basically know what's going on is tumblr. xD Like when UU's appearance was revealed and my dash started freaking out about it. I couldn't help peeking to see what she looked like.......

I know I'm kind of late in replying on this conversation but. xD I think the fact that she's creepy is a big point for Calliope. Sure, she's not pretty on the outside - but she is still a beautiful person. She's helpful and kind and tries to be positive despite her own appearance and the mess on her plate.
And also, you have to remember that she's still the fandom representative character. We don't always think we're the greatest people, especially not with the poor reputation some of the less mature fans earn for us. The Homestuck fandom is infamous in some circles for being obnoxious, and sometimes we put ourselves down for that. But it's also a wonderful fandom full of wonderful people at the same time.
For at least a week after Calliope's appearance was revealed, I remember my dash on tumblr was almost nothing but no Calliope, you're gorgeous! You are lovely and charming and wonderful. Don't put yourself down. And you know what? That entire thing, all that reassurance and positivity and love, was in a way a message from the fandom, to the fandom. To us. Calliope is us. Every "don't worry darling," every "no, you are beautiful"....... was to us.
And honestly I think that's a wonderful thing. We should love ourselves. And Calliope tells us that, even if it's in a roundabout way.

Hello! Joining this because Homestuck rules.
And this thread needs to be bumped. <3
Not caught up yet because I only started recently, but I'll get there. ;o;
I have a really really hard time choosing a favourite, because I adore parts of pretty much every character.
Tavros, Equius, Sollux and Kanaya seem to be my favourite trolls though. ouo
Tavros is a total weenie but he still takes Vriska's jerkfacery really well when you think about it.
Equius is SO FUNNY because of his really intense fetish for being dominated. All his conversations with Aradia are just.. hilarious.
Sollux has certain emotions, like insecurity, that are really easy to relate to and he's just a cutie butt in general. He's just a super nice guy but really volatile and that's sad because he doesn't want to hurt anybody. :c
Kanaya is just a wonderful book nerd fashionista and I think she's wonderful for having fantasies about being a rainbow drinker. She's so formal and serious but she's such a teenage girl. xD Also her crush/future relationship with Rose is freaking perfect.
So yep! :o
