The Doctor allowed Vash to do all the tearing and ripping and pulling apart. One thing he did, however, was shrug out of his jacket and slip it under the Plant's head, wrapping it close. "Keep him warm," the Doctor commanded quickly, his voice eerily still. His hands, however, were brisk and slippery and clumsy. Each time he tried shoving the fabric underneath the Plant like  a pinstriped cocoon, more dust and sand plastered his fingers, his nails. The desert medic's woad.

But after a while he got increasingly frustrated, and flung his hands up wildly about his face like a pair of mousetraps like he'd only just stopped himself from running the grime through his hair. Mouth straining to let out a howl, a snap, a scream. Even Shade couldn't help but recline a little at the total helplessness on his face. The anger. The desperation. His voice was deceptively calm, compared to the wild whites of his eyes. "Right, just... Just keep pressure on it. Keep your hands there, there, Vash! That's it, palms down."

After defeatedly hanging his head, he turned around. Stared at Shade with all the remorse any one thing could muster. So much exhaustion. "Come here, stay close to him. Put his head in your lap. Don't let him get cold or he'll get even more traumatic."

And then he was gone. Like an eagle he had just... leapt to his toes and vanished into the Tardis.

Shade shuffled closer, appalled. This was Knives. Knives. That was all that needed to be said. Too much history and knowledge to go through, to justify why he didn't deserve the Doctor's compassion or her warmth or Vash's love. She knelt, raised his head, felt the downy, sandy hair on her frigid hands. Placed the weight of it on her lap with too much care. She found herself looking down at that paled skin, shining ill in the dark. The closest she'd ever seen him. It was... sickening. Wrenching. And strangely appeasing. He'd been looking down at Ces' paralysed face earlier that evening - sneering, strong, victorious. Now he was nestled in Shade's mercy, immobilised and closer to death than the Haran ever was at the time.

She couldn't bring herself to touch him anymore. She just let her hands lie by her ankles. But she couldn't look at Vash either. Nothing felt right to say. He'd understand, underneath all the layers of pain and regret.

Inside the Tardis was the banging of the Doctor's sneakers against the metal panels. Shade had been so immersed in her dismay she jumped when the Time Lord's skinny frame bounced out of the golden threshold of his ship, arms rolling with white bandages and rags. He flitted back down again, tearing the linen apart by his teeth and hands and passed some to Vash. He gestured for the Fera to move and she backed away without reluctance, letting him assume her place. He shoved more blankets carefully around Knives' head, before he tore open a small papery square - like the flavoured sauce packets you got when you prepared noodles. Oh, noodles, now she was starving again - and sprinkled a white powder across the wound.

"That'll absorb most of the blood, hold off anything unpleasant that might try to get into his body," he murmured to Vash. "It's full of antiseptics." A pause. "If you want to get to these generators we'll have to take him inside. Shade, I left a stretcher by the back door. Please fetch it for me."

She sat for a few seconds, blankly, then nodded and slowly dragged herself away, stepping into the light.

"Hate to think what'd happen if they found her before we did."

Hurjad turned his head to look at his brother, but let him continue.

"Imagine it. Dizzy, rugged little dog, confused out of her wits, surrounded by big snarling Harans trying to discern her accent and gender. What do you think it is, by the way?" Hurjad flinched. Ces wasn't that masculine, surely Tevereo hadn't- "It's not American or European. It's kind of like Kana and Earnest's. What's the island called again?"

Hurjad loosened his shoulders again. "Britain. We picked up Kana in... Britain."

"Ah."

Tevereo silenced himself, which saved Hurjad doing it for him. He didn't want to complain or find fault with Tevereo. He'd been doing that a lot recently. Finding things in his brother to pick at. Being irritable in general, like a cranky, coiled-up heron who'd had all his fish stolen by s*censored*ing kites. But this grogginess, this unfastening of all the cogs in his head, was also stopping him from lunging up and pecking his brother into shutting the hell up. Why was he reduced to this weak-kneed dazedness, whereas his brother had all the stability and tongue to rabbit on about just about anything?

Wait.

Hurjad sat up and plastered his face with his hands. World... stop moving... let me look at you.

"You're not looking too healthy, flour-face," Tevereo murmured. Dripping with sarcasm and sympathy at the same time. Always that combination.

Slowly, Hurjad swayed to his knees as if in a drunken prayer, and sat with his head tilted back ever so slightly, sitting on his heels. Eyes closed. Just... getting used to being upright. "I only need a minute or two. You make a start. And remember, if she punches or bites or kicks you, let her. Then she might agree to listen to us."

OoC: Oh don't you worry, dahling. Suddenly there is a.. profound lack of school in my life. At least until college. 8Y So, free time out the yin-yang~
And even if you did post again before I got the chance I honestly wouldn't mind a bit. xD Heck, I'd probably be delighted.

Also changing Haran heights because I can. Wouldn't it be rubbish for Hurjad if, not only could Tevereo teleport from place to place without having migraines, but he was also shorter than his younger brother?

OoC: Suddenly all my headcanons for Hurjad have been broken. xD Not only is he not big and burly like I always imagined, but he's a dwarf too. Poor guy.
... And here I thought I didn't have headcanons about anything. Guess it turns out I do - they're just all on your characters. 8Y
Also gOSH DANG IT I KEEP FORGETTING TO FEED MY PETS
AND IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY TIME KNIVES IS THE FIRST TO GO
STOP DYING MAN STOP IT CANT YOU SEE THE DOCTORS TRYING HIS DARNEDEST TO HELP YOU HOW INCONSIDERATE CAN YOU BE IGNORING HIS EFFORTS LIKE THAT GEEZ

Vash followed the Doctor's orders like rusty clockwork, hands jittery but sure, feathered fingers working like lightning, tipped in shock. Smeared with blood. Desperate to fix this godawful mistake. Pressure. Pressure was the most important. Stop the bleeding, keep the hole sealed - airtight. Right? Or.. Damnit, he was getting rusty at this somehow. Forgetting. He'd dealt with injuries before - good god, he'd dealt with so many injuries. Shouldn't it all come as second-nature? He bowed his head, shook it, but his quivery hands stayed faithfully in place. Drowning in a sea of red.

He didn't look up to see Shade kneel beside them in the Doctor's place. Not like there was anything to say, right? At least not anything good. The guy had stolen her best friend away. He'd tried to choke her. There was no justifying that. Still, it.. was definitely reassuring, having her there trying to help, hold the night air off a little. It was nice not to be alone. Not to have to make do with nothing but dusty rags and his own damn will not to let anybody die. Not to be stuck in the desert with death lingering over every hill and around every dune and behind every rock, waiting to jump out and grab anyone it could find by the throat.

Then she was gone again. Vash took the pure white bundle with a murmured thank you, thank you so much for all this, folding it in on itself and pressing it into all that blood and all that pain with all the care in the world.

"So," Wolfwood finally spoke up after a minute, leaning in the doorway with one arm around his cross, cutting a sharp silhouette into the light spilling out. "Ya got him at last. You did what I couldn't even manage to do without screwin' up and gettin' caught by that goddamn blue-haired psycho.. and you're still gonna pull these same damn stunts, huh?" A slow drag from a cigarette clamped between his fingers. "You know he's just going to recover again and things'll start all over. You can't keep sparin' people, you idiot, especially not a guy like Knives. Long as he's around he's just gonna keep- oh come on don't look at me like that, you know damn well what I'm talking about. Stop, stop, dammit. You just about look like you're the one that got shot. 'S almost as bad as that empty smile you always walk around with.."

Silence. The priest sighed, kicked off the door he was leaning on and strolled his way up to their little group huddled in the sand. "C'mon Spikey, you gotta stop beating yourself up. I'm not sure how a legendary guy like you manages to pull an accident like this, but that's exactly what it was - an accident. It's not your fault. Everything happens for a God-given reason. Leave it at that an' stop killin' yourself over every little thing. Much as I hate to think of it, the guy's such a dangerous self-absorbed ass and all, he's not just gonna roll over and die. Quit sniveling into your coat, arright?"

Again, a pause. "All right."

The Plant swept his arms under his brother, lifting him up with maybe a little less grace than he should have. Knives cringed a little, and the pain he threw off flared up. Dammit. "We're not gonna have.. have time for a stretcher, Doc." His voice still cracked and wavered like a parched wind, faint and undecided. Damn, he couldn't keep this up - all this carrying people. Especially when Knives was a whole lot heavier than Ces had been. But.. well, there wasn't really a lot of choice about it at this point. "We need to get moving."

"Oh, and Doc.." He paused in the Tardis' doorway. "You got any alcohol on this ship? I could.. really use a drink right about now."

The Doctor almost protested, arms halfway up to support Knives' heavy head, dusted legs uncoiling beneath him. But his help was uneeded. Vash was already in the yellow threshold of the Tardis, with his straight, unbroken posture and Knives' hanging arms wrangling dark, unnatural shapes beside his feet. Always total opposites.

He wanted to marvel further. Whistle one extended, impressed note. Start scanning them both with guiltless gusto and learn everything there was to know about Plants, there and then. But it was either that and let one... specimen die, or start hitching him up to a breathing apparatus that wouldn't let him drown on his own blood, bubbling away in that hole.

"Not so sure about liquor," the Doctor mumbled, reaching out and guiding the Plants into the control room again after a very brisk, admiring stare at Vash. "But there are things in this ship that I only discover for the first time when I happen to look for them. You're welcome to try your luck."

He ushered Knives down gently, gently, onto one of the couches, the one nearest the control panel. "Keep an eye on him for a moment..." He knelt, reached out for the base of the panel, and unhitched a segment of the metal flooring. Then another. And another. In a moment there was a two-metre gap gawping up at him, its mouth a glowing, dark entanglement of more metal sheets and wires. The Doctor dipped himself in and landed with a heavy clank on the bottom.

".. I'll be right back."

His face vanished. Then he reappeared, peeking over the boards to scowl at Wolfwood. "Close the door, God's work. And Shade - I'm so sorry again for bossing you around - find the kitchen-"

"You sexist-!"

"- and get yourself something to eat." The Fera's ears flickered. "I'm not happy with how white your face is. Just don't eat or drink everything too fast, your stomach's been empty for days and it won't enjoy a sudden release of hydrochloric acid. Now get cracking - feed! As for you, Vash..." He turned and faced the Plant, utterly unsure of what to say. Suddenly his mouth and mind was dry of words. He knew how this felt. But 'I understand what you're going through' didn't encompass enough. Didn't encompass nearly enough of what accounts needed to be shared, admitted, exchanged. Then, determinedly, "He's going to live. I promise."

The Time Lord anchored his sad, begging gaze for a few more seconds. Then open space again where his head once was. Somewhere beneath them, amidst the thudding of shoes against metal, he blurted out, "Gimme a yell if something happens!"

Pfft, they'd think twice about being mean to her if her guard dog was around.
I guess I could do a Theslernian post (heh heh, that sounds so regal). But there's not much to say other than have the brothers search some more for the pup. I could wake Ces up I guess...

OoC: I think I can now attempt to make a post >:3 huzzar!
I'm so out of practice to please, excuse the horrible mess of words I'm about to make~

And aweh man nocen's name has been nabbed D: Curses! I left my pets to die T^T

Also, reading over this, I have a feeling I don't know what I'm going to do with the Doctor, so if you'd like to carry on playing as him yer welcome to m'deary :3

BiC: Shade toddled off in search of the kitchen that lay somewhere among that many, ridiculous amounts rooms the TARDIS held. She'd been in there before, or at least she thought she had. Her sense of direction had never been, well, amazing.

Halm, who had remained rather much a shadow in the background this entire time, as she does most of the time, decided to make a move. Despite not being able to 'see', she still had a far superior sense of where exactly it was she needed to be going. Halm picked herself up and staggered. She placed her delicate, bony, hand on a rail in order to support herself. She unfolded her wings slightly in order to balance herself, she found it was easier to walk this way.
Her movements were strange and slow, almost zombie-like. For the first time, she left Leilos's side, catching up with Shade and taking her hand.

Shade jumped slightly at the touch of a cold hand, her head spun round rapidly and her ears perked up. "Oh it's you... uh, what's your name?" Shade questioned the strange creature, taking hold of her hand. Whatever she was, she looked practically dead. Her skin hugged her bones, veins and arteries were visible under the pale colour. It was almost like her skin was translucent, to an extent.

Halm didn't speak. She left Shade examine her for a while, she guessed she was just taking in the fact that Halm was, well, strange to say the least. She supposed that, by the feel of things, she must be in a pretty bad state right now. It had been a while since she'd last 'eaten'. Her raggedy wings twitched, they were quite stiff, who knows what kind of dirt was stuck in there, she wouldn't be able to see for a while either.

Halm tightened her grip around Shade's tiny, grubby, hands and tugged slightly. Trusting that she wouldn't have to drag her, Halm made her way to the TARDIS's kitchen. While everyone else had been busy doing whatever they were, Halm had managed to map out pretty much, every room there was in this ship.

~

Sitting, in one of the darker corners of the control room, Lucy, much like Lupe and Leilos, remained sitting and quiet. The earlier arguments and all the fuss hadn't really interested her at all. Right now, she had a rather simple state of mind, being just fixated with the different textures of the TARDIS's walls, the flickering lights given off by the glowing core, or the heart of the ship. Though not exactly perceptive of things in this state of mind, she seemed to understand that the TARDIS was alive.

Since things had appeared to be less tense right now, despite the fact they'd dragged in some man who looked... well, not all to grand. She noted that a couple seemed rather concerned about it, while the animal-people didn't seem all to bothered. Lucy slowly brought herself to her knees and began to shuffle towards one of the walls.

Asinth's ears twitched and flickered upwards, he looked down towards the pink haired girl. Seemed she was up for moving around now. Just what exactly was she though? He'd never seen pink hair as a natural colour before, or pink eyes for that matter. He didn't know what it was exactly, but something about her troubled him. He let it slide though, she seemed a simple enough creature. Besides, if she was dangerous Lupe or the Doctor man would have said something. He knew Lupe was wise, she was the oldest of them all, so it was only natural that she'd know more than the rest of them and the Doctor, well he had this time travelling ship that was bigger on the inside, of course he was bound to know a lot of random crap. Useful information too probably. Asinth decided he'd keep an eye on this girl anyway, seeing as he was the one to bring her in here.

OoC: lolI'mrambling. I don't know what to do >-> uhm I'll probably attempt to do something later or possibly tomorrow night. I'm gonna have to go into college till the end of the week now derp.
