Jesca stuffed her books into her bag and slung it over her shoulder and padded out of the clas.sroom, a small frown on her pale face. Homework and it’s the first day, she thought in exasperation, giving a deprecatory look at her bag, which was stuffed to bursting with papers and notebooks and other school crap.

It wasn’t that she was concerned though, Jesca knew that she tested in the highest percentile in the school, but she disliked working on subjects that she believed useless.

‘French? What are the chances that I’m going to use French in my lifetime? It’s not like I’m ever going to move there,’ she said with a sigh.
