Vinta turned his head in the direction he'd heard the young voice coming from, blinking once. "I am indeed still here. Do I need to  try to get above the grass?" he called out in return. Escape though they have he couldn't simply let a child wander around alone, especially not one who seemed to require instructions when the situation obviously dictated the need to flee. "If you cannot see blue look for brown. The outside of my wings are brown," he called out again. Hopefully he would be the only brown thing besides dirt, he thought as he fluttered his wings a bit.

Relief pulsed through Abyaz when he heard the butterfly person answering him, and he jumped up a little to see if it would help. "There you are~! I jumped, and I saw your fluttery brown!" He called out, increasing his pace a touch. He'd been expecting blue, but the other mutation had explained that quite nicely, and he wasn't confused by it for more than a brief moment. It wasn't too long before he found himself within easy speaking distance of the other winged mutation, and he beamed up at the fellow happily, stepping around so that he was in front of the butterfly guy. "Here I am! What happens now? It's quite nice out here... I haven't been outside when the sky goes all dark before - is this what camping is? I was told that I might be taken camping, since kids like doing that sometimes, but I thought there were special safe places for that..."

Vinta blinked once, then allowed himself a small smile as a small, fuzzy-looking moth boy popped out of the grass. "Yes, it's a little odd," he said, turning so he could open his wings to show the bright blue and he black. "The outside of my wings differ from the insides, but at least now you can be sure what to look for," he said before he looked around a bit, only to bl
ink and squint a bit. "As far as I can tell there is grass and sky, but the tall grass should help to keep up hidden should the humans try to find us," he said, glancing down at the oddly happy child. "I do hate to request this of you but as my eyesight is is poor I may need you to act as my eyes. I can see blurs of color, however, it is indeed getting rather dark and we need a safer place to hide."

((Okay I may stop here to wait and see if our friendly neighborhood spider will join the butterfly and the moth to try to escape))

((Sorry for not replying.  Went to Florida and the hotel's internet wasn't good enough for me to actually do anything.  <:D  Longer than normal post to make up for it?))

Zhee silently pulled herself out of the tunnel, keeping her body low in case there was anyone around who intended to put her back in a cage.  She had spent enough of her life unable to move over a foot in each direction, now that she was free she had no intention of ever going back.  She glanced up, silently sighing gratefully as she saw the sun was setting.  She could see fine in the day, but her eyes felt way less strained at night.  Not to mention darkness meant safety from the humans who needed light to see.

A loud crash to her right made her jump, before she pressed herself lower to the ground and slowly moved towards it to investigate.  She couldn't imagine a human falling from the sky, so she assumed it was one of those winged mutants, and she hoped it would make a tasty snack.  Nothing helps the appetite like being fed at the end of the day and missing your meal because of a mass breakout.  She heard voices and slowed her approach.  Either what fell didn't die, or whatever killed it followed it over here.  Finally she got close enough to see the potential threat, and before her stood two...very...weak looking mutants.  Like very weak.  She could tell by the dirt and grass on him which one fell, and she wasn't sure how he survived with a weak body like that.  But how weak they are wasn't the issue she needed to focus on.  What she needed to figure out what how to eat one without the other running crying for help.  They weren't trying to eat each other, so she assumed they were friends, and that was inconvenient, or at least it was for her.

"Oh, like hide and seek?" Abyaz asked, delighted. He quite liked games, it was easy to be as happy as he was supposed to be when playing games. Even better, since he was for kids, nobody tended to stop him having fun when he was getting better at games. "Ohhh, I didn't know that... Is it for always, your eyes?" He responded, seeming slightly more downcast at the information that his new friend - as far as he was concerned - had a problem with his vision. "I like to be useful! I'll help you! It'll be easier to not get split up if I hold your hand~" Abyaz informed the butterfly fellow, "My name is Abyaz, what's yours?" Yes, useful is good, useful is safe... Useful makes people like me... He thought, glancing around as much as he possibly could with his wide obsidian eyes, in an effort to see something so that he could be useful. The mutations that weren't useful disappeared, even he knew that, and he'd been afraid of that for a long time - ever since that one firefly lady had told him that they weren't just in another room, but not coming back ever never.

"I don't see many places to go... Oh, but there's some trees thataway, an' maybe there'll be some fruit? I'm kinda hungry... I was gonna hide some feed in my fluff, but I nearly got caught last time, an' its hard to make it not fall out..." He mithered, pointing in the direction he'd seen something not-grass in - though he'd had to jump to see it. "I wanted to hide some, 'cause there was a bunch of stuff going on where I was, an' they'd been forgetting to feed me sometimes - I think they were upset about something, an' I was getting more training an' stuff, like they were hurrying. One time, they nearly didn't feed me all day! I had to yell an' yell an' yell! Got in trouble for that, but it seemed like they were too worried t'be too angry - talkin' about that money stuff they like. They said I had good lungs, though, an' that was nice of them~ That was a compliment, right?" Abyaz didn't know that the people who'd been keeping him had been experiencing financial difficulties, his understanding of money and the like being very limited - mostly to a knowledge that it wasn't for him - but he had been one of their best efforts to stave off the dwindling of their livelihood. He did indeed have good lungs, which was part of the reason he was able to manage flight. It was actually not all that unreasonable for Abyaz to have been distressed at receiving so little food in a day, whatever the diets of other mutations, as his metabolism was such that he would become extremely lethargic if unable to eat enough in a day, and his handlers had found early on that he could become seriously ill - and thus less valuable - if kept hungry for too long.

"I can smell something funny... Familiar funny, like back with the others - do you think there's someone else here?" Abyaz imparted, indicating his antennae with one hand, pointing towards the direction of the scent with one of his other three. It was a scent that set off vague warning bells in his head, but he wasn't sure why. As for his current well-being, Abyaz was not unharmed by his fall, having sustained some damage from impact, but he knew better than to let it show when he was busy - that sort of thing would have got him shut away if he was a complainer. He would wait to soothe himself until he was sure it was okay.

((No worries, it happens~))

- Name -
Schlau Fremder
- Age -
20
- Gender -
Male
- Species -
Praying Mantis
- Personality -
Sly, carefree and a bit strange, Schlau is very open about his ideals. His beliefs are pretty simple, live like today will be your last, take what you want to. Though sometimes he contradicts himself and takes unexpected actions that even he doesn't fully understand. He is somewhat of an opportunist and changes his mind often.
- History -
Schlau was bred for fighting, originally designed to be used in war. But the project was dismissed before anyone proposed the idea to the military because the subjects would fall into schizophrenic spasms in which they brought about destruction to everything around them. In this state they could not control the mutations and could only wait until they calmed down. Schlau escaped during one of these spasms and wanders where he wishes to explore. He still has traces of schizophrenic tendency.
- Looks -
Schlau is moderately tall, standing at 5'8'', though he is quite thin. He looks much like a regular human, but has limbs of a mantis, the forelegs, protruding from the center area of his shoulders. He has control over these limbs and easily fold them behind his back when he feels they are in the way, which is most of the time. He also has a weak set of wings that are usually folded back as well. These wings can carry him no farther than a few feet when in use however, so rarely will he bother to work them. He has messy, semi-long emerald hair and same color eyes. The forelegs on his shoulders are also this color with a strong, glossy shell. Because of his love for green, he wears a jade trench coat which he never removes, even when it's hot. Underneath, everything he wears is black, this includes his t-shirt, pants, belt and his gloves.
- Abilities -
He has no largely useful skills aside from being patient and an exceptional combatant. He weighs very little, this makes him more swift than most.
- Other -
Schlau's diet consists of anything he steals that he likes the taste of. So far, he has decided that he likes sweets and spicy things.

Easter? I went to my grandmother's house to hang out with my cousins, aunts and uncles. Other than that, I don't think I did anything spectacular.

On a side note, I apologize for wasting your time if this roleplay was closed, but I found no specific area stating so... ^-^' And I know everyone is already broken out so if it's not closed, feel free to let me know how I should start? If this form is acceptable, of course...!

((It's not closed! You're definitely accepted, praying mantis' are amazing insects :D
As for where you could start, since you wander around everywhere, you could have wandered around the Market and eventually bump into the three mutations as they go?

Oh and I'll do another post sometime today, it's just early in the morning (Like, 8am.) and I can't think properly.))

((Yay, thanks! :D I assume it's okay to make a starting post then? I read up to here and I can see now it's not as far as I thought so it seems I can still catch the end of the breakout part.))

Schlau came to, walking slowly through long grass. He swayed with fatigue as he moved, but stopped walking as he became wary of his surroundings. What happened here? Since when had he... broken out...? He saw figures in the distance, though he wasn't sure whether he should approach them. He quickly decided it was worth the risk though, he wanted to know what in the blazes was going on. But his body grew heavy as he moved closer to them. This was not good, he was drained of energy. Barely coherent, Schlau called out to the two he could see clearest. "Hey!" was all he could say, out of breath as he raised an arm to them. He wondered what he could have possibly done to use up so much strength that he felt this way.

"I suppose you could call it a form of hide and seek, yes," Vinta responded. "And yes, unfortunately. As I do not have antennae and such it took away a good deal of the other senses I could have had to make up for it. I may be the only one like myself with this issue, however, so I suppose it may even simply be my bad luck," he added, reaching down to gently take hold of the young mothchild's hand, looking to the side with the trees and such that had been indicated. He tilted his head a little bit. "Yes, fruit indeed does sound rather nice right about now," he amended.

"By the way, my name is Vinta. I must admit that it is rather nice to make your acquaintance, Abyaz." He offered the child a small smile before looking slightly confused. "As trusting as I am sure you are regarding the other mutations such as ourselves I must suggest being as least a little cautious. Peaceful ones like us surely aren't the only ones to have escaped," he said gently before he looked over in the direction of a shout. He furrowed his brows a little bit. Should they check it out? Well, he supposed if anything happened he could try to protect the child and buy him time before fleeing himself. But, should he try to investigate?

"Ohhh, that's too bad..." Abyaz murmured, feeling sorry for the fellow he considered to be his new friend. He took hold of Vinta's hand when it met his own, grateful for the reassurance provided, and determined to lead his new friend straight. "It's nice t'meet you, too~" He chirped happily, smiling. I knew he'd like fruit! Fruit's too nice to not like. He thought to himself, before tilting his head a little as he considered what else the butterfly morph had to say. "Hmm? You mean the meanies? Someone told me there were meanies who might wanna eat me if I got too close..." Abyaz responded, turning even-wider frightened eyes up at Vinta. "I didn't wanna believe that, but then I heard some of the humans complaining about something like that happening! It's not right - food that talks isn't food! I - I'll be good..." He continued, trailing off a little at the end. holding Vinta's hand a little tighter. He'd forgotten about the meanies... He looked up abruptly when he heard a shout, trying to figure out what was going on. "There's a wobbly green guy over there..." He muttered, noticing that Vinta was already looking in the right direction. "Why can't he keep his arm straight? Is he tired?"

Slowly Schlau made his way over to the two, bringing down his arm and holding his forehead instead. He hadn't noticed this horrible headache until just now. His senses were all wrong at the moment, it seemed. He removed his hand from his forehead and looked at it, unable to focus on it completely. On top of his vision growing blurry, he couldn't keep his hand steady. "You gotta be... kidding me..." he grunted, falling forward into the long grass.

Zhee drew back silently, hoping she hadn't been spotted as one of the two delicious looking mutants before her commented on her smell.  She hadn't even considered the idea that she could be smelled!  She had never had much of a sense of smell herself and often forgot it was a thing.  Luckily the two were distracted before they could figure out they were being hunted, well it was good but it was also bad.  She doubted her chances with just two of the little buggers, and she wasn't stupid enough to try her chances with three.    Instead, she decided she would wait and see how they reacted to this new comer.  Maybe if they acted friendly enough she could introduce herself and see if they knew where any easier to get food.  Now that she thought about it, she did think they had been talking about food, but she had been so caught up in her own thinking to listen!  She couldn't help but feel like she hadn't done very many intelligent things since she escaped...  In any case she decided now would be a good time to start listening.

She started listening just in time to here one warn the other against other mutants, which was sort of off putting for the whole 'introducing herself' idea, but she had to admit it was a good idea.  After all, she had spent a good five or ten minutes trying to figure out how to eat one of them.  She watched the two for a moment, jumping slightly when the figure the three mutants had been watching the approach of abruptly collapsed.  She leaned forward slightly, catching a glimpse of him, and without really thinking about it she asked, " Is he okay? "

((Sorry if this isn't very good.  I'm helping my grandparents move and I'm pretty sure being tired from it is affecting my writing.  <:/))

"Uh oh!" Abyaz squeaked, as the stranger toppled over in front of them. He was about to go to try and help, when he recalled what had been told to him just moments ago. Stilling, he turned to look up at his poor-sighted companion, eyes wide with concern, but lit by caution. "What should I do? Do I help him? What'll happen if we leave him?" He asked, fidgeting. Abyaz jumped when an unfamiliar voice spoke out, startled, and whirled to see who had spoken, clutching Vinta's hand for reassurance. "Who're you?" He asked uncertainly, "We dunno, he just fell..." He added, feeling kind of compelled to answer, as a question had been asked. "Were you hiding? Following? Do you know the green wobbly guy? Are - are you a meanie?" He queried, nervousness increasing the rapidity of his breathing. Would Vinta know what to do? He seemed to have been pretty reliable so far, even if he couldn't see so good.

Vinta reached out to place a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder, blinking and looking over when he heard the sound of someone falling and then the sound of a stranger's voice. He moved to carefully step in front of the young mothboy, ready to at least provide time for him to get away should something happen. "I am not sure," he said carefully, blinking before he narrowed his eyes to try to see a bit clearer. Then he gave up on that notion and turned to look in the direction he'd heard the one guy fall. "Abyaz can you see where the green one is? Thanks to the grass I can not really tell where he is since his color blends in a little too well," he murmured. If only they could find some manner of correctional lenses like the humans who had been tending to him kept mentioning. They had been made aware of his vision problems and kept going on about those things called 'glasses' that could help him see better.

Schlau grunted and picked himself up, holding his head again. He muttered something about a lack of energy before looking up at the three other mutations not far away. "So uh, what's up?" he asked, half-smiling in attempt to lighten the mood. He nearly fell over again but he managed to gain his balance once more. Instinctively despite his current state, he took note of the build and approximate strength of each one of the mutants in case they were not friendly. The two closest to each other, the butterfly man and the moth child, they didn't seem like any threat, really. They'd probably run if provoked, not much muscle either. That third one though, an arachnid. A formidable opponent for sure, he was no match for that girl the way he was now. Though if he'd had his strength, he was sure he'd win a fight against her. He hoped she wasn't planning on attacking anyone, specifically the two practically defenseless ones. Schlau prepared himself to make a move in their defense if need be.

"There he is." Abyaz stated simply, pointing. The green stranger seemed to be standing up again, and the moth child viewed him with inquisitive concern. "You okay, green guy? Why'd you fall?" He asked, still nervous, but feeling the need to enquire anyway. His wings fluttered a little with his unease, but he made no move to take off. This stranger didn't seem unfriendly thus far, but he wasn't going to trust him immediately, after Vinta's reminder about meanies. The same went for the spider lady, as he thought of her, whom he suspected of being sneaky. Perhaps if he told them his name, he would seem more like a person to them, and less like a meal? Food didn't get to have names - names meant you knew someone, and knew that they were someone. "I'm Abyaz, who're you?" He asked bluntly, his tone light and slightly shaky. If anyone tried anything, he could scream, but he was certainly no fighter. Did he want to risk the humans coming and getting angry with them? Well, uncertain death or punishment would be better than certain death, wouldn't it? He hoped it wouldn't come to that - he wasn't very good at being decisive.

"I'm fine," Schlau assured the little boy, "I think." He looked around the area once more, wondering if it was safe to still be standing around this close to the place they'd apparently escaped from. "It seems I've expended most of my energy escaping." he said in reply to the second question after some thought. The boy introduced himself, not a bad idea, actually. Schlau always found that names helped stop the tension between people when they met. "I'm Schlau." he said cheerfully, holding out his hand to shake. He tried as hard as he could to hold it steady.

For a moment, Zhee felt irritated with herself for saying something.  Now that they knew where she was, she would never be able to eat someone without a huge mess of screaming and fighting.  With a small frown she decided she would have to find a meal somewhere else, probably after she was done interacting with these mutants.  She stopped crouching and stared at the collapsed green guy, wondering if he was going to bother getting up, and if him getting up would result in the moth boy shutting up.  He was starting to irritate her.  Luckily the green mutant soon stood back up, then almost fell over, and then stood semi-normally again.  Zhee's forehead wrinkled with concern, most for herself and the other mutants.  In her opinion, this mutant didn't look particularly stable, and his big...arm...claw...things looked pretty dangerous to her.  She didn't trust the way he looked at her, as though he didn't trust her or something.  Silently she looked back to the moth boy as he resumed pestering the stranger with a load of questions, and she started to consider leaving while no one was watching.  However, Zhee was curious.  She hadn't seen much of interactions like this, where mutants spoke freely without barriers between them.

Zhee shuffled her feet a bit, which were getting sore from standing in one place so long.  The mantis man introduced himself as Schlau, and tried to get the Abyaz-moth to shake his hand.  From the looks of it this was a very literal hand shake.  "Well, I guess as long as we're doing introductions I might as well join in.  I'm Zhee and I just got out of that place over there, " she said, pointing back at the wall.  By this point she had pretty much forgotten about wanting to eat these mutants, and was thinking more about how she might be able to get her very first friend, and only moments after her very first great escape!  It seemed like this day was full of achievements to achieve.

"Oh..." Abyaz responded, thinking about what the exhausted mutation had stated. "We were gonna go see if there's fruit - that'd help, right?" He added, "Are you good at finding things?" Maybe the guy was tired, but he seemed plenty friendly, and Abyaz was thinking that it would be best if there were more of them who could see looking for food - just in case he missed something. It would be bad to be walking around aimlessly not far from food and not knowing. He reached out tentatively, keeping hold of his butterfly friend, and gave the new guy's hand a gentle shake. "Hello Schlau." He greeted, giving the other a hesitant smile.

After letting go of Schlau's hand, Abyaz turned to regard the spider lady, who seemed kind of irritated for some reason. Maybe she was tired too? He wasn't going to risk asking - he was nervous of her. Still, at least she'd started to speak to them. That meant she was less likely to try to eat them, didn't it. "Hello Zhee." He spoke softly, not wanting to seem as though he'd ignored her - if he didn't know for definite what was bugging her, best to be polite.

"Yeah, food would be great," Schlau said, after Abyaz shook his hand, "I'm no expert at foraging but I think I can help to find us something." He watched the boy greet the spider girl, and his face turned to a more serious one. "Greetings." he said, feeling he should say something to her too. Schlau wasn't completely sure whether he trusted her still, but she seemed to be friendly at this time. He'd have to keep an eye on her.

He turned to the butterfly man after that. "So who are you then?" he asked, hoping to get this moving. He didn't know how long he could stay conscious and his vision was going in and out of focus like a broken camera.
