((Aww, it's alright ^^ And I actually dont think we decided on setting, lets just say it's fall then XP))
Eden heard the knock on the front door and quickly rushed down. She had grown bored of doing nothing in her room and decided she'd come down and watch the maid work, eventually growing bored of that two and putting some Louis Armstrong on the phonograph in the parlor.
Eden opened the door and grinned when she saw her friend. "Hey come on in." She stepped aside and allowed her friend in from the cold. "My parents aren't home yet."
She chewed on the inside of her cheek, wondering why her friend had come alone. She had heard about her mother, rumors had been flying all around. Though she didn't want to bring it up to her friend. "So how have you been doing?" She finlly asked, it seemed appriate enough.

I smiled as I saw Eden open the door. Walking inside, I enjoyed the warmth that surrounded me. At least my teeth were done with their obnoxious chattering. At Eden's question, my lips turned to a slight frown before adding,
"My mom's at it again."
That's all I said before walking deeper to her home, thinking of something else to say. It was embarrassing, really. To used to have the reputation of being rich, then your father dies, your mother becomes depressed and everything else just goes downhill. It meant that people were talking about my family, wondering what was true and what was not. Being the talk of the town wasn't as great as it sounded.
"But, I guess I'm sort of getting used to it."
That was a total lie. But I hated having our first conversation a depressing one. When I was ready, I'd probably spill the details to Eden about everything that's been happening.
"And, how have you been?"

Eden nodded nd closed the door. Following her friend as she went into the room. She could tell this was a touchu subject and she wasn't quite ready to talk about so Eden nodded when her friend asked her how she'd been.
"Oh the same." She said taking the record out of the player. If her parents came home and heard her listening to this, they would flip. She quickly hid the Louis Armstong record and put on a Beethoven one. "Nothing's really interesting. Uh, I heard of few of my froends saying they went to one of the speakeasies, The Back Room, ever heard of it?" She asked plopping her body down on a chair. "They sid it was the real cat's meow."
This was Eden's chance, dropping this in on the conversation nonchantly. She'd eventually work up asking her friend to sneak out with her tonight, and it was going to be hard. She was always such a good girl, especially now with her whoel ordeal with her mother.

I frowned as Eden brought up Speak Easy. Just talking about it made me disgusted. The drinking. The drugs. The woman who were shameless with what they wore and did. I hated just thinking about it. It was gross and completely wrong. I sat down next to Eden, the disgust showing in my features.
"Yeah, I've heard of it. That place is horrible."
I said with a small chill before adding,
"I can't imagine stepping one foot in there."

Eden's fce fell slightly when her friend spoke. She honestly hadn't expected that harsh of reaction. She looked away for a moment as she thoought about what to possibly say.
She nodded once and bit her lip for a moment. "It can't possibly be that bad, I hear some of most high class guys re theres. Like I heard the Gilmore's son always hangs out there. And he's the biggest wet blanket in the world." She sighed, she really had no idea where to possibly tke this conversation now. She didn't want to go alone, nd she didn't trust her other friends the way she trutsed Ally.

A look of horror flashed across my face as I looked back at Eden.
"I hope you're kidding."
I said, my eyes still flashing with the shock. She was standing up for that horrible place, saying it wasn't 'all that bad'? "Eden..."
I started, putting a hand on her knee as if I was about to ask something that was hard to say. "You haven't been there before, right? You wouldn't be so... Foolish."

Eden shook her head, she wasn't kidding. She couldnt really belief it either. She began picking at her nails nervously when her friend put her hand on her knee. She made it seem like it was such a horrible idea. She shook her head, pushing some dark hair from her face and smiled slightly at her friend.
"Oh no." She shook her head. "I've never set foot in a speakeasy." But that didn't mean she didn't want to. It was everything that their life wasn't it was exciting, there was jazz and she could be independant, she wouldn't hve to rely on anyone other than herself.
"But I'll admit, I wonder you know." Eden said shifting herself uncomfortably in the chair. "I mean, the flapper lifestyle is just so fsinating." She said her blue eys sparkling.

The second she added about the flappers, I jerked my hand away from her knee as if it was scolding hot and I had just gotten burned. "Eden. A flapper is anything but fascinating. It's wrong. Horrible. Gross." I shivered at the thought of even passing by any flapper. "You're freaking me out, Eden. Do you want to be a flapper?"

Eden made a face when her friend pulled away as if she was some sort of filthy creature. She shifted and faced her friend. "Think about it Al, not all flappers are horrible and sinful." she said rolling her eyes as she thought about how people thought about them. "Al, they do everything that men tell us not to. They drive, they smoke, drink, everything men reserve for themselves." She shook her head. "Im not saying smoking and drinking is a good thing but really Ally. They're independant, they aren't hopeless damesels(sp?). They don't need to wait for a man."
Eden was getting a little too worked up and she didn't want to freak out her friend more than she already had. She leaned back into her chair and sighed, and ran her hand through her hair once more and shook her head. How did she ever possibly think she could talk Ally into going with her.

I couldn't take the frown off my face, even if I tried. Flappers were independent, sure. But I would say there were more dangerously independent, not looked upon as fascinating. I sighed as she did, feeling the tension in the air.
"I know I shouldn't be saying this, since you're giving me food and all, but you're thinking foolishly."
I twiddled my fingers, staring down at my lap as I tried thinking between the lines on what she said.
"You're sticking up for the wrong thing. It's..."
I couldn't even finish as I shook my head in disgust.
"If you went to one SpeakEasy, you would never want to go there again. I haven't even been there and I know that."

Eden shook her head and leaned back into her seat and crossed her leg over the other. She shouldn't have brought this up, should have known better. She shook her head at the last thing her friend said.
"Ally you don't know that." She said crossing her arms over her chest. "Speakeasies aren't all bad. It's what you make it. If you wanna drink till you get fried to the hat* thats your own thing. If I were to go i'd just be for the music." She stately slowly thinking about what to say next. "Come on l, it really can't be that bad. Plus from what I heard the owner is a real Shiek*." She knew that would tatally backfire on her and she inwardly cringed as she waited to her what her friend would say.

I still couldn't believe she was actually talking to people about the Speakeasies. It took everything in me to not just ask where she was hearing all this from, and threaten that if she had heard of it herself from being there, I'd tell her parents.
But, instead, I tried my best to keep my cool as I said, "I do know, Eden." I didn't want to make a big deal, but my mom went to the speakeasies, so I knew what it was like by the look of my mom by the time she got back home. "Usually, nice looking guys at speakeasies tend to be real jerks..."
I muttered, stubbornly as I looked back down at my lap. Refusing to believe anything but my opinion about the speakeasies.

Eden huffed and shook her head, she was just as stubborn at Ally. They could probably go back nd forth like this all day.
"Do you not remember what I said about the Gilmore's son. If that boy is a jerk than I am Queen of Englnd."
She sucked in a breath and tried to think about what to say. She wanted to say only a dumb girl would fall for a jerk, but she had heard about her friends mom, and she had no plans on insulting her.
She rolled her blue eyes and sighed. "You know what nevermind, this was a dumb idea. I should have known better, you were always the good girl." She ran her hand through he hair. She really didn't want to argue anymore and ran her hand through her hair.
She had a sudden idea, maybe she could spin this into a study. The social studies teacher was always going on about trying something new. Maybe should could twist that and talk Ally into going, but she'd do that when she could keep a clear head.

Eden pursed her lips and nodded. So much for her big plan of talking her friend into going. She sighed once more and leaned her head back. Of course they disagreed, but if only she could get her to come. If she didn't like it, it'd be the end of it
"Jaqueline." she called to the maid, snapping out of her thoughts.
"Oui." The maid said quickly. Eden figured she must have been listening or something.
"A quelle heure est-ce que mes parent vont revenir?" She asked looking back at the woman.
"Eux, they just called. Ils me dit, to begin dinner without them."
Eden rolled her eyes. Typical, of course they weren't coming. She looked over at Ally. "You wanna eat now?" she said looking back at her friend.

Goodness, I was so glad that dinner would be served. I was starving and hadn't wanted to say anything. "Sure."
I said with a casual shrug before getting up from the sofa.

Eden nodded and hurried on past her friend into the dinning room. She sat down at her normal seat and waited for the maid to bring her food. The conversation they had was still bugging her, and she couldn't stand it.
She poked at food on her place before looking over at Althia. "I know I said I'd drop the subject but really." She sighed. "How can you possibly condemn something if you've never been in one or seen one?" she asked. She knew that question could be thrown right back her, but at least she had an open mind about it.

I followed Eden to the dining room, and sat down across from Eden. Just as I was about to take a bite of food, Eden went back to the topic.
"Why don't you go there, stay for an hour, and come back to tell me how it really is then?" I said, feeling as though I was damning her to hell. "No, wait. Don't do that."
I said with a shake of my head. I didn't want Eden scarred if there were worse things there then I had already thought.
