Shadow nodded in a form of saying 'your welcome' and then looked over at the two pups, thinking. Suddenly a howl broke her train of thought and she turned towards the den's entrance. "It sounded like a Scout's call.", she replied, her voice distant as she thought of what the call might mean. She shook her head and walked, quick paced up to the den entrance just in time to see a group of three tan colored Scout's trotting out of the tree line.
I\'m extremely sorry for my absence. I\'ve been very busy and was recently attacked by 3 dogs and am currently recovering.

"What's that?" he asked. Watching three wolves trot off he wondered what this was. Trotting to keep up with Shadow, he looked at her. "Is it important?"

Shadow kept a fast pace as she caught a strange wolves smell, a strange female. "It could be, it seems like it's just an intruder, though.", she responded as she followed the scout's to where their Scout Leader stood over a female around Muster's age. The red, brown colored male barked for his group of three to come pin the female while he addressed his Alpha's daughter. He walked up to her with a lowered head and licked her under her chin in respect before Shadow commanded he have some self-respect. "I'm not your Alpha, yet, so quit with that foolish behavior and just tell me what happened." "I found this female wolf sneaking around our territory as if she were looking for someone. So I decided to take it as a threat and call for you or one of your parents.", the muscular male replied to the request of his Alpha's daughter.

Muster still trotting after Shadow saw the body. Shocked he sighed and whimpered. Nudging the head of her sister he spoke, "What did they do to you?" Nudging her again and whimpering, he backed off. He ran off, running far he eventually stopped at the lake. Laying down he laid his head on his paws and thought. It was getting dark and Muster got up. Trotting off to his den, he stopped outside his den. Sniffing the air he smelt smoke, but left it. The pup sniffed him and played around. Muster got down the birds and they all ate it up. Lying on his paws he fell asleep with the pups.

Shadow looked at the unconscious female's injuries and growled, " Did you have to be so harsh?" " Sorry, Ma'am. My boys got a bit aggressive, you have to remember that they're still in training.", the male whimpered and folded his ears down in shame. " Have your 'boys' take this poor wolf to the Healer. Immediately!", barked the furious female. Upon hesitation the male got a sharp nip to his throat to get him moving. He soon had the female over his shoulders and was leading his group to the Healer. Shadow shook her head as she watched them run and decided she would go watch Muster's charges while he was gone. Once she arrived at his den she went directly to the darkest parts of it, carrying the pups into the dark with her. She laid with them by her stomach until she fell asleep. Sooner than she knew she woke up to feel no warmth from the pups and saw them playing with Muster, but didn't dare to move out of the darkness' protection until the male fell asleep with the pups at his side. As soon as he fell asleep Shadow lifted herself from the stone floor of the cave and carefully started on her way out of Muster's borrowed den.

Muster heard soft pads, he saw Shadow. "Thank you, Shadow." he said loud enough for her to hear.

Shadow's ears twitched as she stopped and turned her head to look at Muster. She locked eyes with him for a few short seconds and then her eyes closed and she turned to leave with a simple nod of her head. Once she left the den she briefly looked at the sky before going to her own den to lay on her fur pile to sleep a bit more.

Muster woke to the sounds of birds tweeting and a glorious day ahead. Muster sighed and walked to Shadow's den. Seeing she was awake he asked, "Could I come in?"

Shadow had woken up far before day break and occupied herself with thoughts until the sun rose. She then decided she would start moving around and get to doing something. So she began to sharpen her claws against the rocks of her cave. Once the last claw was sharpened she heard the voice of a male, but couldn't make out who because she was too concentrated on checking each claws sharpness. Once finishing the inspection of her claws Shadow finally answered the male's question, " Yes, but make it quick."

Shadow looked up and said," Oh, Muster, it's you! I was actually about to check on her once I know the Healer is awake. Which she should be soon. Would you like to come with me?"

Shadow nodded her head sharply and then began her quick paced walk to the Healer's den. "Healer? Are you up?", the she-wolves voice went soft and kind as she poked her head inside the entrance to the Healer's den full of gnarled roots that sprung from every angle of the rock. "Yes, Shadow. I'm up.", the soft, calming voice of the Healer danced into Shadow's ears. The pure white, shining pelt of the beautiful icy blue eyed wolf slipped between the roots to greet Shadow. They touched noses in greeting and a faint smile could be seen on the darker female's face. "So how is the female that the Scout's brought to you?"

Muster silently followed Shadow and while she talked to the other female he peered over her shoulder. He couldn't see anything...

The Healer whimper and replied," I'm sorry, my lovely sister. The female isn't doing too well. I'm afraid she may not make it through another night. Those pesky Scout's made her lose far too much blood." Shadow sighed and placed the tip of her fluffy tail on Muster's right shoulder. "Would this young male be able to see his sister before she... Well..." "Yes. I cannot keep him from seeing her.", the lighter female replied and then gestured for them to follow as she turned and slid back between the roots.
(Yes, The Healer is Shadow's sister.)

Muster flinched as Shadow touched his shoulder. He couldn't concentrate, he stumbled over to his sister. Blinded by the tears, he couldn't see her. "T-t-t-aa-kk-ee o-o-ffff th-th-th-e p-p-p-u-p-p-pp-ssss." (Take care of the pups) Muster let a few tears drop. Trying not to show any weakness, he sniffed. Seeing clearly, his sister had already left. "No." he whispered. He stalked back, backing out the den he tripped over a tree stump. "No!" he howled. Turning he left, bumping into other wolves he couldn't see where he was going. Jumping onto a log and struggled across, jumping off he sat down and whimpered.

Shadow had silently slipped through the roots towards the female after Muster ran out. She sat beside the body and placed her nose on the female's right shoulder. "I promise you. I will protect your brother and help him watch your pups. They will grow to be strong young beings. And, if they show promise and I have no successor, they will be the new leader's of the pack when I pass on. I will teach them the ways of the wolves and never let them stray from their path in life.", the dark female whispered to the female's dead body. She then straightened up and removed her nose from her shoulder. "I will bury this wolf tonight, under the full moon.", she told her sister, who immediately nodded and sat beside the body, to watch it until then. Right after, Shadow had slipped between the roots and passed Muster. She left the pack territory in broad daylight, not caring what either of her parents may do. Marching towards the lake she found a beautiful place under a lone tree by the lake and began to dig.

Muster looked at the storm clouds forming above him. A rumble and a flash was enough to get him going. Getting up he started walking with his tail in between his legs. A crack behind him and he ran, jumping up on the log he scrambled along. Losing his footing, he slipped into the river. The river was cold and Muster bobbed along, the current too storng. Muster struggled and eventually he got to the shore. Panting he started walking up the river. Wet and cold he found the tree. He stopped at the tree and water splashed onto the pool. The river was flooding. Muster trotted into the camp and found Shadow's mom. "Umm, sorry. But, the river is flooding. I thought I should just warn you." Muster looked at the female wolf with worry and sadness in his eyes.
