"Hey, Alex!"  Jeremy's loud yell startled Alex from his sketching.

He looked up in time to see the sophomore striding towards him, a grin spreading over his face.  Alex got up and put away away his sketch book, taking one last glance at the picture he had been working on.

It was of a beautiful young girl, with bright eyes and long hair.  A slight grin spread across her face.  It was still a rough sketch, uncolored, but Alex could already tell it would become one of his favorites.

Sighing, he got up as Jeremy approached.  "Hey, Jeremy."

"Alex, I told you that you can call me J-Man!"

Alex simply rolled his eyes.  As the bell rang, he sighed in relief.  At least he could escape Jeremy during cla.ss.

"Bye!" he called over his shoulded, jogging towards his first clas.s of the day.

Eulalia walked along the path up to the school at a leisurely pace. She stared into the distance with her striking green eyes, and sighed.

"Another day of school," She smiled, nonetheless. It wasn't always so bad, she thought.

One of her friends came bounding over happily and squeezed her into a tight hug.
"Hey, Euli," Hayley greeted Eulalia with the nickname she'd been given years ago. "What are you doing just standing around?"

Hayley furrowed her brow as she looked at Eulalia skeptically.

"Oh, um... Nothing." Eulalia giggled, rolling her eyes. "I was just thinking." Just as she finished her sentence, the bell rang.

"Well, I'll see you at lunch," Hayley smiled and waved before jogging off quickly. Eulalia waved back and returned the smile then slowly made her way to her first cla-ss.

Alex ticked his pencil impatiently on his desk as his teacher droned on about some subject that he trule didn't care about.  The next period was lunch, and he was overly eager to get away from clas.s, even if it meant putting up with Jeremy.

Finally, the bell emitted a long tolling sound; the sound of freedom.  Alex leapt from his chair and made a beeline for the cafeteria, brushing his red-black hair out of his eyes.

Eulalia stared blankly up at her teacher as she chattered away about whatever she usually babbled about. This was history, the one cla-ss Eulalia never exactly payed attention in. Her eyes shifted to the clock, and she willed it to move it's hands. Just one more minute...

Eulalia jumped up, and quickly gathered her things as the bell chimed it's high pitched note. She was eager to get to lunch, as always, and wanted to get out of this cla-ssroom as fast as possible. She neared the cafeteria and smiled, knowing that Hayley would probably have already saved her a good seat, then she and the rest of her friends... Her thoughts were cut short as soon as she rammed into a boy with red and black hair who she didn't recognize.

Gasping, Eulalia quickly bent down to retrieve the notebooks she'd dropped and started apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going and... Um, yeah." She smiled apologetically.

Alex turned around, surprised.  He grinned, though, as he saw who bumped him.  A pretty girl was making an apology, but he didn't truly listen.  To put it shortly, he was captivated.  It was the girl form his sketch this morning--or really, who he had been sketching.

Bending down to help her gather the scattered items, he said gently, "No problem.  I'm Alex.  Who are you?"

Eulalia watched the boy grin, slightly confused. People don't normally smile like that when they have someone practically run them over.

"My names Eulalia," She replied with a smile of her own. "Nice to meet you, and thanks for helping me pick up my stuff."

She stood up with the last notebook in hand and smoothed out her shirt awkwardly. "I, uh, I'm sorry. Again." She laughed nervously, not really knowing what else she could say in this situation.

Alex shrugged,  almost laughing at her dazed ex
pression.

"We all make mistkaes," he said, tiliting his head to the side.  "You're name's Eulalia, you said?  What an exotic name."  He paused for a moment, and then realized he could have just come across as rude.  "Exotic in a good way, I mean.  It's beautiful."  He blushed.

Eulalia giggled lightly at Alex's embaras-sment.

"Oh, it's okay, I knew what you meant," She a-ssured him. "Thank you, by the way." She brushed a few strands of hair out of her face and kept smiling.

Just then, her friend Hayley came over and latched onto Eulalia in another big hug. "You're so slow, we've been waiting for you at the table forever." She looked at Alex with big eyes. "Oh, uh, did I interrupt something?"

"Um.. No, not really." Eulalia said. "This is Alex. And, Alex this is Hayley." She smiled.

Hayley fake curtsied at Alex.

"Nice to meet you as well," She replied and laughed. "Now, you," She turned to Eulalia. "Are needed at the lunch table."

"Oh, well okay," Eulalia replied. "You're welcome to come sit with my friends and I if you want..." She told Alex as Hayley pulled her away.

Alex smiled at Hayley, and then turned to answet Eulalia.

"Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to eat outside.  Erm...  See you around, I guess."

Alex turned and headed for the school courtyard.

((  D;  I'm leaving for a week tomorrow, and I'm not sure I'll be able to get on much...  ))

"Oh, okay..." Eulalia answered with a hint of disappointment in her voice. "Yeah, see you around."

Hayley walked her over to the table and the two sat down next to each other.
"He was cute," Hayley laughed.

"Yeah," Eulalia smiled.

Alex slid a last look ove rhis shoulder as he made his way out to the courtyard.  Nice girl.

BRIIIING!

BRIIING!

BRIING!

Alex sighed and stuffed the remainder of his lunch back into his bag and stood up.  Time for clas.s already?  The prospect sickened him.

Eulalia let out a sigh of happiness as the last bell rang and school was ofically over. She gave a goodbye hug to Hayley, before making her way towards the front of the school.

She looked around quickly, hoping she'd happen to see that Alex boy again before she started to walk home.

"Bye, Alex!" called Jeremy as he walked through the hallways, going to opposite way that Alex had been heading.

Good riddance.

Alex blew out a sigh and raked his hand through his hair as he walked through the doors and out into the late afternoon sunlight.  It warmed his skin, making the wolf within him wags its tail.  He had the sudden urge to bark.

He spotted Eulalia walking away from the school.  Suddenly eager to talk to her again, he jogged over in an attempt to catch up.

"Hi," he said as he fell into step besaide her.
