"Again not something I've really thought about so no." Bandit said his tail flicking with excitment as the sun lowered getting closer and closer to the time when the group would set off. The herd was settling down as mothers layed down with their foals in a group for protection while the stallions and other older horses scattered about the barren medow.

"It's time," Willow breathed to herself. "This is it."
Willow slipped into the woods, being careful where she placed her hooves, as not to make any unnecessary sound. The shadows cast from the trees looked strange in the moonlight, making Willow nervous. She broke into a trot, and then a canter, hoping the others would hear and follow her.
---
"Hmmm, there might be someone that's a little... interesting..." Lichen trailed off, unwilling to mention the mare's name to Bandit. "Wait-look, Willow's gone! Let's go, otherwise she'll get too far ahead!" Lichen hissed excitedly. "Let's move!"

Mist and Trinity had both gone off towards the "edge" of the field.  Mist kept looking around, waiting for any movement of one of the other horses.  The idea was brilliant.  In the time they spent waiting, neither of the two spoke.  Trinity was interested in the journey, but not too much of anything else.  Or at least not yet, maybe.  Mist then got up quickly once she heard and saw Willow going off.  The dozing Trinity awoke at Mist's tough prod as Mist softly went into the woods, gaining speed.  She soon saw Willow through the trees and made her way there.  Ears pricked, the mare heard Trinity's hoofsteps.  "Trin's coming.  So... which way are we going exactly?" she asked as they cantered along.

Willow looked over her shoulder, as Mist approached. She gave a qiuck nod to Trinity as the stallion followed up behind her. "I don't know, I think we should head west, but we should wait for Lichen, Bandit and Raven first."

---

Lichen thundered through the forest, excitement running through his viens. This was it, behind him, the meadow was going, going, it was gone.

((Fail post XD))

((sorry guys but I went away for Christmas and just now had time to get on.))

Raven looked up when she herd the faint thud of hooves on the dry ground. She watched the last bit of Trinity and Bandit race off into the forest and smiled ans she started after them. She kept her hoof falls quiet so as not to wake up any oth of the herd untill she had made to the others where she stopped.

Bandit followed close behind Trinity as he galloped after Mist and Willow, 'This has to be the most exciting thing that's happened since last month when the herd found that mountain lion!'  Bandit said to himself.

Willow couldn't stop her tail flicking too much, or the way she kept tossing her head, or how her leggs tingled to be moving. She was just too excited. She saw Raven coming through the trees, with Bandit just in front of her.

"So," Willow began, should we head north, or east?" She wasn't really sure what either direction would lead them to, but there were mountains to the west, and she had a bad feeling about going south, that was where the mountain lions lived.

---

Lichen looked around at their little group, and couldn't help but notice how pretty the moonlight was, boucing off of all of their coats. We will find you water, he thought to himself, half amused. Lichen could see Trinity standing ahead, and couldn't help but notice how much older, more responsible he looked, standing next to Bandit. Normally, a stallion would watch over a band of mares, while his favorite, most responsible mare lead it, leading the family to find food, shelter and water, and most importantly, helping to protect all the foals, including her own. But this tradition had stopped when the drought started, and they were all forced together. Lichen thought, that just maybe, if they found water, he and the other young stallions could start out on their own, trying to win mares from band stallions. It could be a tough life for a male horse, but at least they were wild and free.

Bandit shrugged when Willow asked which direction they should head. He wasn't very observant about the surrounding area and had absolutely no idea what was where besides knowing his way around the herds land, "well uh we should move towards the direction in which there is a lot of plants correct?" He offered unsure if that was right.

Raven nodded as she thought, "Yes plants mean water and plants alsoean food. Isn't there a bigger forest to the east?" Raven asked looking around the now assembled group.

"I'd say North.  In all those stories told, North always seems to be the magic direction," Mist piped up.  "Then again, you've both got a strong point."  She set her gaze up at the moon momentarily, it's shine and glow seeming to give her strength.  It was so beautiful.  The moon always fascinated Mist, and she wondered what it would be like if she could trot on the moon.  Mist looked down again and instead wondered about what faced them in the forest - not what could be in the sky.  "What do you say, Willow?  Lichen?  Trinity?" Mist asked.

Trinity glanced over at Bandit and then Lichen.  He also quickly surveyed Raven, Willow, and Mist.  Everyone was here and everything was fine.  Answering Mist's question, he said, "I'd go East."
Wait.  What was that?
Out of the corner of his eye, Trin saw something shiny.  Beginning to slowly go over to it, he nudged it, but its identity was unknown to him.  He then prodded it with his snout and still didn't know what it was.  It was hard and shiny and sort of clear.  In the daylight he might've been able to see it better.  Turning back to the rest and leaving the ob
ject alone, Trinity's ears tuned in to the conversation at hand.

(Yeah, that's the start of Trin's curiousity and adventurous plights :P )

Lichen spoke up, "I think, we've all  been to the Mountain Top, right? You can see a large forest from there." He finished, as though being to the Mountain Top settled the matter. "And this isn't a magic fairy tale, and north means snow, and cold." Lichen did not like the cold.

---

Willow was nodding, and then realized the forest was strangely quiet. She couldn't hear anything, no owls, no night creatures stirring. "Guys, why is it so quiet?" Willow shispered. She shivered, and not from cold, but from the unnatural silence. A silence like this meant there was likely a predator lurking, and Willow really didn't want to encounter one so early into their mission.
