Eric frowned and reluctantly pulled his hand away. Why did Ace not want anyone to see the burn mark? He was mystified and to be honest a little hurt. It was probably because she didn't want any normal humans to see. Eric remembered, they were in public. It almost felt like they were in their own personal little bubble. But when she did show him the scar he would try to help heal it. Eric knew he could. He could heal the burn. Though not the mark of death. Then his mind returned to the present. “Sure.” He looked down at the table. But his eyes wandered back to Ace. She almost had a magnetic field that was drawing him closer. Eric wanted to say something though his brain was wiped of words. Then what caught his attention was the mention of odd men that Ace, the mermaid (whatever her name was), and the vamp saw. Okay, that was a creepy coincidence. And the black hair and red eyes, definitely evil looking. Eric wondered what they were in New York for. Even for supernaturals, New York was a good place to blend in but groups of people looking like that, was just weird. “Do you know why those weird guys were in the hotel?” He asked, deep in thought.

Elena finally woke up with her alarm clock flashing. It was a little after two and she was still tired. Why did she set her alarm clock to wake her up at nine o'clock when it wouldn't have any effect on her heavy sleeping. Maybe staying up late to watch “The Nightmare on Elm Street” wasn't such a good idea. She hoped she didn't snore.

Elena bounded into the kitchen with the smell of warm cinnamon and frosting wafting into her nose. Rafi was sitting in front of the toaster while a warm cinnamon roll cooked. “Hey, make one for me sis.” She said. Then before seating her self on a chair at the small apartment dining table, she stretched. A lot of bones cracked. Elena hoped this annoyed Rafi. Actually they weren't real sisters. They became adopted sisters a long time ago and they were as close as freaking possible. Neither one could stand being without the other for very long. Besides, both being magical, they got even closer practicing spells and stuff. That gave Elena a thought. Hm, maybe she could turn a cinnamon roll into something healthy like an orange. That could kick-start a diet. But the smell and texture of warm fat and sugar covered in frosting reminded her that she was just too damn hungry care about losing weight. Screw that, bring on the cinnamon!

"No, not at all," Ace answered. She cupped her hands under her chin. "It's strange that they were together. Ara and Glimmer and I... we aren't super evil, but we're still close. But not perfectly B-F-F's. It makes me feel strange that there are three of those exact species-like us- together. It's rare enough as it is, that the three of us hang together, but more? And looking like that? It can't be a coincidence." she leaned back into her chair, sipping her coffee. "Keep an eye out for a female devil, fire user, and necromancer who have black hair and red eyes," she said, pointin her finger at his chest. "They could be a problem. If we see three people like that, than we have to a-ssume we have a problem, and a big on on our hands." she fingered the back of her neck, where the tattoo was. It seemed to be stinging a bit... but why?

...

"If you dare change this cinnamon role into an orange, I will fry your pretty brown hair off, and then leave you without eye brows." Rafi threatened, her hand now holding a small ball of fire. She was grumpy in the morning, when she didn't have food.

     And then it happened.

     The oven ringed.

[dun-dun-duuuuuuun]

Rafi started bouncing around the room, the fire from her hands now in her bright eyes. "Cinnnamon role!" she screamed as loud as she could. She didn't have to worry about waking anyone up today, all the rest of the family were at work or school. Rafi had encouraged Elena to take the day of so they could spend it together, have fun. Unfortunatly though, neither of them had counted on it being so late in the afternoon. Rafi pulled the cinnamon role out of the oven, not even bothering to put on mits. Heat didn't affect her at all. Yanking out the bun, she slammed the oven door closed, went to the cabinets, pulled out a plate, and deposited the cinnamon role onto the white platter. Cutting it in half, she pushed the plate over to her sister, taking her half and finishing it in less than thirty-seconds.

Eric pondered this. As much as he wanted to believe that there was nothing wierd or possibly dangerous going on, he knew Ace had a point. It was just too obvious. Even just seeing such creatures was enough evidence to make someone suspicious, and maybe even scared. It would be a lie to say that even Eric wasn't a bit jittery. But they had to think clearly. "I will keep an eye out for anything like that. And maybe none of us should be alone. There's an extremely good chance that whoever or whatever sent those guys is targeting us. And if we see an evil-looking fire wielder then that could mean someone's spying on us. I just recently joined you guys. Okay, wait. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Just keep an eye out and try not to go anywhere alone. I-I could accompany you if you need to run any errands or something." Eric said sheepishly then looked at the floor. The scraping of someone's chair made him jump. He looked around the room for anything out of place. Maybe they were just being to superstitious. But Ace was smart and strategic. She would know what to do if anything happened and Eric would be at her side. Despite his lack of fighting experience and aggression. Then his eyes returned to Ace and found hers anxiously.

...

Elena also gobbled down her cinnamon roll half hungrily. Though, her eating skills could not nearly compare to her sister Rafi's. Elena almost laughed as she reached over and flicked a crumb off Rafi's nose. "Maybe we should go shopping." She suggested. "I want to visit Delia's to get some ripped jeans. Or maybe we could go mini-golfing. Oh guess what? I have been really improving on my physic spells. I've almost fully developed my mind-reading skills and I bought a book on compulsion. You know that you can walk right through a wall in Barne's and Noble's and there's a magic section! It's so cool!" Elena gushed. She loved practicing magic. Though being a witch was hard and dirty work, it paid off. But not when you accidentally turn the boy you like into a coffee mug. Not that Elena would know, *gulp*... But she fixed it.

"Come on Elena," Rafi stood up from her chair. She walked over to the sink and layed her white plate down, scrubbing it cleanw ith soap and water before putting it in the cabin with all the other plates. "I have some new spells I wanna show you." she said, turning to her sister. Rafi was currently wearing her gl*censored*es, and behind them her dark brown eyes were outlined with eyeliner, followed by pink eyeshadow. Looking at what she was wearing, you could see that she was dressed in white short shorts and a long sleeve, light pink t-shirt. She wasn't wearing any shoes at the moment, but winding around her legs like vines were tattoo's, shining silver as though magestically. No, she never got them. She was just born like that.

Elena jumped up, excited. She didn't bother to put away her dirty plate and just left it sitting there. "Yes!" She exclaimed with a huge grin on her face. "Let me throw some clothes on." Elena said, glancing down at her gray tank top and purple pijama bottoms. She practically ran to her room. She loved learning new spells. Especially from her sister who was almost more experienced than her. Almost.

Elena grabbed the first clothes she saw. Short shorts, and a tight blue t-shirt with a cute saying on it. The neckline was low and it showed off tattoos similar to Rafi's. Except hers were gold and they wrapped around her midsection and up to her neck until it ended at her right cheek. They were magical looking swirls that sort of resembled flowers blooming across her skin. They were some very minor tattoos on her wrists.

She took a quick glance in her mirror then pulled her hair up in a ponytail. Elena stepped towards the door but remembering something, she went into the drawer in her pale white nightstand and pulled out a small br*censored* ring. On it was a very tiny peice of rose quartz. Elena didn't know much about it but she got it from one of her relatives. The stone was supposed to protect against evil spirits or something. Walking down the hall towards Rafi, she smiled.

[Her necklace looks like this

Okay?]

Rafi smiled, baring her teeth at Elena. The girl had changed into something that allowed her flexibility and allowed her to get dirty at the same time. When messing with spells and magic, one could easily become slammed into a wall or covered in dust, and white shorts simply didn't cut it. She was now wearing a pair of black shorts and her cropped grey tanktop, which was cropped just bellow her chest, showing off the dangling pendent in her belly button. Her shoes were merely just strings of leather that wrapped around her ankles and feet, until they reached her knees. She had always loved leaving the most part of her legs bare to show of her tattoos, and she wasn't about to change that yet. Her hair was tied back into a tight brade that hung down to the base of her back. Surprisingly straight. She must've straightened her hair that day...

Rafi nodded to Elena, before leading her into the basement, where a secret door that led to their own little training area was. In the middle of the basement was a rug, and when you lifted it up, there would be a slight crack in the wood that covered the basement floor. It was just about the size of a small hexagon. Uncliping the clasp of a neclase around her neck, Rafi held in her hand a jewel, which was sparkling a clear gold and silver, flashing with random elemental colors when a specific element was used. Pouring all her power into it, the jewel started glowing red, blue, green, and white, gold and black. Pressing the jewel into the floor, a creaking noise emitated from down bellow. Pulling out the necklace from the floor, a stairway appeared, dimly lit with tortches and candles. The stairs were made of carved out stone, and the stairs were wet. Fastening the key to the stairway back onto her neck, she turned to Elena. "Come on."

Elena smiled with delight at the spot of her training place. It was a regular wood floor except with intricate black swirls covoring it that looked like fire had been used to burn out the pattern. The design formed something like a circle or star. Around the edges there were medium sized stones embeded in the wood. There was amethyst, sapphire, ruby, quartz, and emerald. For each of the elements. Though sometimes Elena and Rafi used candles.

After admiring the room a little more, Elena turned to her sister. "What are we practicing?" She beamed.

Arachelle sat on the leather couch where Angel was napping, almost dozing off herself. What was going on with her? Arachelle shook her head to wake up her mind. Her boyfriend the birdboy sure took a while to get his beauty rest. She was getting impatient. She loved Angel with all her heart, beating or not. But sometimes Ara wished she could bash his holy brains out. Then a noise startled her. It sounded like a loud banging on the door. Much louder than nessecary. Ara grew wary. "Drake, Ace, Glim, Eric?" She called. No one responded. The banging continued. Slowly approaching the door, Ara gripped the door handle and yanked it wide open, preparing to spring. Much to her surprise, not a single person was at the door. It appeared as though the whole area outside the door had been undisturbed. The hallway was empty. The banging was odd. And it seriously creeped Ara out. She would have to ask the others about it and watch her back. Then she turned to walk back to Angel but she felt something drip onto her head. Wiping her head, Ara looked up to see thick, dark red liquid dripping from the top of the doorway. The smell really caught her attention. Blood. And it was not human. Strangely, Ara recognized the scent and shivered. For some reason the blood dripping down sent chills up her back. Rushing inside she slammed the door shut and locked it. She rushed over to Angel, sitting on the couch next to him and nervously ruffled his soft, white, messy hair. She was scared, nervous, worried, and puzzled. She knew the smell of that particular blood very well but she didn't remember where. And why. "Angel." She said, hoping it would cause her boyfriend to stir. She should tell him, and the others. There was something very wrong going on and Ara knew it.

[Design on the floor of the training area- minus the words. Instead there's just ancient symbols. And I color coded the key so when I say what place to go, you'll understand. ^^]

Rafi waltzed into the training room, dragging Elena with her. "You see, a few days ago, when you were at soccer practice, I came in here. I did a bit of reasearch and I figured out how to develope this new move. It isn't really easy, so you gotta be careful when doing it." Rafi moved into the middle of thesymbol on the ground. "I made this symbol that day too. It makes it easier to perform spells." she added, just so Elena would know. "Were I'm standing is called point Ztsu. Anyway, now watch." Rafi faced the wall to the left of her, grabbed her left wrist with her right hand, the palm of her left facing the wall. "Now, you have to consentrate..." Rafi closed her eyes. As she concentrated, a small blue sphere appeared infront of the palm of her hand. It kept growing bigger, until it was about the size of a basketball. "And then- LET IT ALL OUT!" Her eyes popped open, and she closed her hand into a fist. As she did this, the sphere of blinding purple light exploded from her hand, flying with the speed of light into the wall, where it crashed, emitating a large exploding sound. Dust and debris flew from the wall, going all over the place. When everything was clear again, there was a very deep crater in the wall. "It's all about sumoning all your energy into one spot. Once it's the size you want it, you let it go, putting as much force as you can between you and it." She smiled, before wiping the back of her hand across her sweaty forehead. "You wanna try it?"

((Omg! That picture is awesome! It's almost exactly what I had in mind.))

Elena watched in amazement at Rafi, memorizing every movement and ex
pression that her sister showed. This looked like a tremendously powerful move and she wanted to get it right. It looked like it was taking a lot out of Rafi and her warning had immediately settled in Elena's mind. She was surprised even more when the magic almost exploded in her face. Quickly stepping to the side, Elena watched the glowing sapphire ball of magical energy explode the concrete wall behind her. Wow! That would hurt if it got you. A lot. When Rafi finished, Elena wiped dust off her face and her eyes widened.

"You okay?" She asked her sister. "I can do this. Give me a second." Elena nodded and went to stand at point Nol. For some reason, she just always felt comfortable there. Elena thought deeply about what she was about to do, nervously fidgeting with the rose quartz ring on her finger, half hoping it would lend her strength for the diffcult spell. Then taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, she held put her hands, concentrating on a glowing ball of light. When she felt her hands grow warm, Elena joyfully opened her eyes to see...

An aluminum light bulb, hovering in mid air over Elena's hands. The filament was lighted, just like any other electrical light bulb The only difference was that this one was magically lit and hovering in mid-air. Elena's face fell flat and her hands dropped to her sides, causing the bulb to disappear. Great. She wanted to conjure up a ball of magic energy that could kick your @ss and got a light bulb. Real smart, Elena; she thought to herself.

On the second try, Elena more clearly pictured what had appeared in Rafi's hands, the vision floating in her mind. Nothing happened. Her palms were empty.

On the third try, Elena more than visualized the magic; she felt it, imagining the energy coursing through her body like the rivers of blood in her veins. And then she felt warmth, pulsing through her limbs. Elena was taken by surprised but didn't stop when a small blue ball just like Rafi's appeared within reach. She had conjured the magic. And it was beautiful.

But at the same time, Elena sensed the strong power radiating off of it, and realized that her body was glazed with sweat, and her ball was only half the size of her sister's. As much as Elena felt the need to maintain possession of the magic, she knew she had to get rid of it. Struggling to keep it under control, she moved her hands, pushing to blue glowing ball with her hands and mind at the wall. It exploded in the same place Rafi's had. Might as well keep all the damage in one place.

After making a smaller dent in the wall, Elena went to lean on her sisters shoulder and wipe off some sweat. "Wow, that's a strong spell. Where on earth did you learn that?" She asked. Then Elena waved her hand before Rafi could answer the question. "Never mind, tell me later. Maybe we could go grab a bite to eat. I'm hungry again." Elena grinned. "The hotel downtown is supposed to have good food. Especially good hummus."
