Use low coloured pets to obtain better colours? o3o

I got to thinking the other day that even with Kir, nattie, sepia, cream, even black coloured pets aren't worth a whole lot. And getting the albino or blonde or calico pet needed for the quest is mostly based on chance, unless you pay an arm and a leg for one from another user.

But what if you could turn in your nattie, sepia, cream, black, coloured pets, or even dyed pets, for a better colour?

It would have to be a large ratio (maybe in the ball park of a 200 natties to obtain an albino, maybe more, 300?), and at first, these colour changes would come pretty easily, as natties and low colours are priced rather dismally at the moment. But as people began to buy these low coloured pets to use as 'currency' in getting a more rare colour, the price of them would rise, and the albino, blonde, etc pets would remain rare.

It could depend on a point system, where one nattie was worth, say, 1 point. A sepia worth 2, maybe 3, and so forth. Once you've obtained a certain number of points, you could cash them in for a colour change.

You could only get a colour change for the species you've obtained enough points from. ie, you can't hand in 200 or so nattie zennies and use those points for an albino uilus. Those points you earned by handing in zenirix can only be used for a colour change on a zenirix.

Obviously wouldn't be able to be used for CS pets or uldavian creatu.

The points for creatu system is already in place, used during many holiday events to obtain seasonal eggs. And the colour changes are also used at the springs, so I don't believe a lot of coding would be needed to make this a reality.

This shouldn't diminish the value of the high coloured pets by much, as you'd still need a lot of pets to turn in for a colour change, especially if this system were in place for a while, as the price of low coloured pets would rise quite a bit as people bought them up to turn in for points. Same with the value of beans. Rather than spend millions on pets to hand in over a long period of time, I feel many users would still prefer to try their luck with a bean or three. Also, instead of beans, which can add sepias and creams and blacks to the market, this system removes them.

Kir quest pets, such as the RSTU series, galta, and ivik would still remain valuable, as obtaining high colours in this fashion should take just as long as trying to hatch one yourself, or waiting for one to come on sale. What makes this system desirable is the fact that the outcome is tangible, the user can see how far away they actually are from obtaining the pet they need, all the while removing low coloured and 'undesirable' pets from the system.

Let me know what you think? If you feel anything should be altered or changed in my idea? And of course, whether I have your support. ^o^

This is actually a very interesting suggestions. I'm still not sure of the ratio of pets you have to give in till you get a color change though. I guess that would have to be thought a little more careful, cause i mean trading in 200 natural uilus? dam lol. xD
But I see your point and I like it!

The seasonal ratio would definitely be different, and I think the ratios in general really need hashing out, and should reflect the individual rarity of the pets, too. xD And thanks! I appreciate the input <3

This is pretty cool!
Pretzel has a good point though, maybe a separate point system, giving all colours a number.

natties- 1 point
sepia- 2 etc

and then higher colours point value taking big jumps

ie. blonde- 100

 albino- 200

so, say you need an albino, you could hand in 200 natties, or hand in 50natties and a bunch of other colours that have a higher point value.
and the value would have to be thought out properly

i hope that made sense xD

but yes, SUPPORT :D

I rather like this, this could help naturals and other low colors that are near worthless to have a bit more worth and get a lot of the ones that are sitting in the system out. This can also help raise the number of the rarer colors like Bino and Calico and re-balance some of the problems with creatu prices.

Support =D

I really like this idea. Support. =) Would be nice to see some further thought and some numbers to go along with the color exchanges.

Support. It would need some more thinking through and stuff but it's a great idea.

Wonderful post! Thank you for taking the time to write it.
Similar concepts like this have been used in other games, and has always done a great job at helping balance value systems.
I feel Res could definitely use something like this for Creatu. In fact, I have been working on a similar idea and your suggestions will be quite helpful! :)
