Name: Hermione Jeane Granger

Gender: Female

Age: 11

Personality: Well, she's smart. (xD) Not afraid to show herself off in class. Usually gives in to doing others homework. Get's insecure about herself a lot of the time. Blah Blah Blah. We know her. c:

Deion: We all know what she looks like, right? o.o Bushy brown hair and eye brows, kind of large teeth, chocolate brown eyes. Etc~

Wand Type: 10 3/4", Vine Wood, with Dragon Heart String Core, Sturdy

History: Muggle born, doesn't really know any wizards or witches. Etc.

~~

Name: Lyle Karthe Jones

Gender: Male

Age: 11

Personality: Lyle is very silent. He doesn't like being... Known. He's extremely smart, almost Hermione smart, but he chooses not to flaunt it off. He will only answer a question he is directly asked, instead of blurting out smart answers or raising his hand every few minutes.
Lyle keeps to himself, he's not fond of loud, obnoxious people. He almost prefers Slytherins over Griffindors. In fact, he /does/ prefer them. Lyle is the rational type of guy, he will listen to both sides of one story before making a desiscion about something, or someone.
Lyle is also quite easy going. He will usually sweep most things, well, /everything/ under the rug. Nothing really gets Lyle depressed. He just is... Lyle. No quite definate way to describe him.

Deion: Lyle is pretty tall for his age group, standing above most others. He has an olive colored skin tone, year round, and his eyes are pure black. He has a normal, short hair cut, his hair a dirty blonde color. Lyle has several dark freckles sparred across his face and arms. They're not too noticable though.
Lyle has a slender, athletic build. He isn't muscular, but he is toned. He likes to take care of his body, watching what goes in and what comes out. He is boarder-line vegetarian. (Random face for ya.)

Wand Type: 9", Ebony, Veela hair. Flexible

History:
Lyle's dad is a wizard, and his mom is a witch. You /could/ say he is a pure blood, but he's not quite. His mother is a half-blood. He lives in London 24/7, unless he is at school. Knows quite well of the wizarding world. His mom is a healer at St. Mungo's, and his dad works at the broom shop in Diagon Alley. Not much otherwise. He /does/ know quite a few high ranking families though.

Name: Draco Malfoy

Gender: Male

Age: 11 (born 5th June, 1980)

Personality:  We know what he’s like, right? xD Arrogant, mean, a “foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach”. Very outspoken in his hate against Muggles and Muggleborns, and uses the term ‘Mudblood’ a lot more than is necessary. He aspires to be like his Father, who influences much of his personality traits. Also, he’s very spoiled.

Deion: Draco has short blonde hair that is more often than not sleeked back with gel, and grey eyes. He is pale, and has pointed features. He is tall and slender, and has high cheekbones.

Wand Type: 10” Hawthorn wood, with unicorn hair core

History: Draco is the Pureblood son of Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy, a prominent Wizarding family that also supports Pureblood supremacy. His father is a high-ranking Death Eater. Etc?

= | = | =

Name: Olive Hester

Gender: Female

Age: 11 (born 13th June, 1980)

Personality:  Ambitious, loud/quiet and (often) scheming. Olive never does anything without thinking it through thoroughly first, and weighing the pros and cons of every situation. She has very high expectations for herself, wanting to be the best at everything so as to keep all her options open. However, she does dismally in Transfiguration, Herbology and Astronomy, which causes her much bitterness. Her favourite subject is Charms. Sometimes, to keep her reputation at its best, she will manipulate a situation, or some people, to get what she wants. She is very observant, and catches things many people don’t want her to. To get the best out of a situation, she thinks about how the people in said situation will react to what she does, and whether this will benefit her, before she acts on it. She surrounds herself by many people but inside, she feels very alone. When she is with other people, she is loud, talkative and happy, but alone or with very close friends, she is quiet and reclusive.

Deion: Olive has long, straight, layered brunette hair the colour of chocolate that flows to her mid back. Her eyes are a cool, dark grey. She is shorter than most people her age and is lean. Olive has light skin that tans easily, which she hates. Her face is an oval shape, with a large forehead covered by a side fringe, and plump, smooth lips. She has high cheekbones and a long slender neck. She is moderately attractive, but not astoundingly so.

Wand Type: 11” Holly wood, with unicorn hair core

History: Olive comes from a relatively unknown Pureblood family related to the Malfoys who are comfortably wealthy, but not exceedingly wealthy. She has one brother, named Harlan, who is twenty-three years old. She has not heard from him since she was seven, when he was married off. Her childhood playmate and best friend is Draco Malfoy, her cousin. Her parents are cold, arrogant and proud people, and their one goal in life is to merge their family into a Pureblood one of higher status. When she is at home, which is most of her life, she is groomed to become the perfect Pureblood wife.

((Yeah... No worries, Immature me as well! ^^ hehe

And the platform sounds great!

-Posts now-))

Hermione took a deep breath as she looked down, once again, at her ticket. "9 and three quarters..." She mumbled to herself, getting quite confused. There was not, for sure, a 9 and 3/4 platform anywhere! She would have found it already, she was sure of it.

"Hermione," A deep voice peirced the silence of the girl's thoughts. "That trolley has an owl on it... Rather strange, don't you think?" Hermione's father then pointed at a small family not too far down from them.

Hermione grinned and practically skipped to the platform the other family had stopped at. They were right inbetween the platforms 9 and 10. Hermione watched in amazement as the mother of the family of three ran into, no, through, the wall. She simply, disappeared.

"Pretty cool, huh?"
The boy said to Hermione, almost scaring her. The girl blushed red. "How is it possible?" She asked him, since he seemed to be more knowelgable of the wierd doorway.

"Well, this platform is magical,"
The boy started. "You know... The way to get to Hogwarts." He paused and grinned. He could tell this girl was most certainly a muggle. Full bred muggle as well. "Since you're knew to this, I would advise getting a runny start with your trolley to get through the portal. It's much easier that way." He paused yet again. "I'm Lyle," He finally added. "See you on the other side!" And with that, the boy took his cart and ran through the wall, leaving Hermione to be astonded.

Hermione then looked up at her parents. They seemed to be 20x more confused than she! With a nervous laugh, Hermione took a tight hold on her trolley and started running towards the wall. She closed her eyes and held her breath, hoping when she came in contact, the wall would not be solid. But, as quick as she went in, Hermione was out on the other side. A large train then whistled its bell, scaring Hermione from her amazed trance.

Two more adults rushed through the portal, landing next to the girl. They were astounded, shocked, amuzed even. How they wished they could be magical like that.

"You coming?"
A familular voice said to Hermione. It was Lyle again.

"Yes!" She squeaked, rushing away from her parents quickly. Hermione then paused, slowing her cart to a stop. She rushed back to her parents, hugged then both, and with kisses goodbye, she rushed back to the kind boy. She set her trolly next to his, where the conductor's and their assistants packed them away. The girl watched as Lyle snatched a calico cat in a cage away from the cart quickly. She then realized she didn't have a pet yet... How embarrassing!

"Let's go find a seat now! The train's about to leave... Any minute now."
Lyle said, checking the huge clock on the wall before jumping into the train. He was searching for compartments. barely waiting for Hermione to catch up. Finally, they found an empty one, near the 'Slytherin' section of the train. Quite close to the back. "This is fine, right?" He asked the girl, getting a nod of approval from her. "Good."

“And remember to reply to my letters every once in a while, Draco. I know you’re forgetful,” Narcissa said, straightening his black tie. He sighed and rolled his eyes.

“Yes, Mother.”

“Good boy. Now-”

“That is enough, Narcissa,” Lucius cut in coldly. “Draco must be going now. The train will be leaving soon, and he has no more time for your coddling.” Narcissa glared at him, but didn’t say anything. He turned to his son. “I expect that that black tie will be green soon, Draco. Our family has been in Slytherin generation after generation, and I will not have my son ruining the tradition."

Draco nodded.

“Good,” said Lucius, and he gave a smile, one that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Make us proud. Remember not to consort with Mudbloods and Blood Traitors. Your mother and I will see you next holidays.” And with that, the tall, intimidating man took his wife’s arm and led her away. Draco stared after them, before turning and starting towards the train. He felt very alone, despite the overcrowded platform.

“Draco! Draco!”

Draco turned to see a girl his age running towards him with her robes flapping behind her. His heart considerably lifted, and he gave a genuine smile. “Olive!”

“Draco,” she panted, reaching him. “Did your parents leave already?”

Draco frowned. “Yeah, they did. Why?”

Olive looked disappointed. “My mother would have liked to see Lucius again. Oh well. Did Twinky already put your trunk on the train?” Draco nodded. “Oh, good. Father was worried she wouldn’t be here to take my trunk. Well, now that’s settled, shall we board the train?” She grabbed his arms and dragged him onto the Hogwarts Express.

Draco led his cousin in the search for an empty compartment. They skipped the compartments near the front of the train, where they both knew from their parents’ stories housed the Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, to the end. Finally, they reached the Slytherin part of the train. They tried the first compartment, and saw that it was empty of any occupants, setting aside two people their age, a boy and a girl.

Draco saw the girl first, and he narrowed his eyes. From her clothing, he could tell she was a Muggle. Or Muggleborn.

“May we share your compartment?” Olive asked, when she saw that Draco wasn’t going to say anything.

Hermione found herself sitting near the window, the boy she just met at her side. She could not wait to go to Hogwarts! It was... The most incredible thing to happen to her... Ever! She loved it. It wasn't moments later, though, she felt eyes staring at her. Hermione turned around and saw a blonde haired boy, and a girl with cool, gray eyes looking upon her and her 'partner'. The blonde of seemed almost hateful already. Instantly, Hermione wondered if it was because she was not of a magical descent.

Then, the girl spoke. Hermione certainly didn't want the two to sit in her compartment, but Lyle felt otherwise. "Come on in!" He said, almost cheerfully. It was his day away, his first day to school! There was no way he could stay in his usual silent funk of a mood. Lyle waved at the empty seats across from him, and Hermione.

Lyle then noticed the boy. He was a Malfoy. Lyle could just tell. A very well respected family, of course. The boy's eyes went wide. The girl, he did not know, but, if she was friends with Draco, she must be of pure blood. Otherwise, the two would not even converse.

"I'm Lyle," The boy then started, knowing from one look at Hermione, she wasn't going to say much. "Lyle Karthe Jones," He added his middle and last name, just because. He felt a formal introduction would be better, in some strange way. "And this is Hermione!" Lyle pointed to his companion, who shuddered when he did so. She did not want to be noticed by these people.

"H... Hi," Hermione stammered slowly, giving a small, awkward wave and a nervous smile. Then, the train blew it's whistle, and started to move. This was the moment Hermione couldn't wait for! She was finally getting away from her drab life.... It was incredible!

((I feel like I love Lyle already xD))

“Thank you,” Olive said, although even to her ears, it didn’t sound very truthful. She winced and sat across from Lyle and Hermione. Draco followed suit. “Olive Hester, and this is my cousin, Draco Malfoy.” Draco still had his eyes narrowed at Hermione, and Olive knew instantly why. She was a Muggleborn. Olive didn’t necessarily harbour any feelings of hatred towards Muggles and Muggleborns, but she did pity them. How could anyone live without magic? She knew, however, that her Uncle Lucius had drilled hatred for non-magical folk into Draco as soon as he could understand what ‘dirty blood’ was. No matter what she had said, he always listened to his Father, not her.

“Pleasure to meet you,” Draco drawled, not sounding sincere at all. The girl, ‘Hermione’ – she was the first Muggleborn he had yet to meet. Father and Mother had only ever let him play with Parkinsons, Notts, Goyles and Crabbes when he was younger, and he understood that that was because they were all Pureblooded. He mentally added her name to a mental list of people he did not want to associate with, in any good terms. If Father heard about him talking to her, he would not be happy. He already felt disgusted being in a compartment with her.

The boy, however, he knew was a Pureblood, and of good stock.

“Jones, did you say?” he asked, looking at the other blonde boy curiously. He made a decision to ignore Hermione. “My Father met yours at the Minister’s last Ball, didn’t he?”

Hermione instaly felt out of her comfort zone. These people were pure bloods, she could see the respect welling in Lyle's eyes already. Oh great! She thought, trying to conceale her worried attitude. I'm already making enemies! So, In order to not draw attention to herself, Hermione reached down and grabbed her bag, pulling Hogwarts, A History out. She flipped to a folded page and started reading. She was right to the part about the Founders' histories. How fascinating!

"Pleasure is all mine,"
Lyle said happily, being sincere in his statement though. Lyle could tell of Draco's displeasure to his companion; Draco was either horrible at hiding his emotions, or he wanted the girl to know that he did not like her. Either way, it was not a good thing.

"Jones, yes,"
Lyle said, repeating what Draco had said. "I believe they did. My father wouldn't stop raving about how interesting that party was. He said he got swarmed with people, being one of the best broom makers in the wizarding world." Lyle tried to say this casually, and he succeeded pretty well. He asked as if his father's high ranking in society was nothing. Though, Lyle was secretly, and extremely, proud of this.

"And what does your father do, Olive?"
Lyle then asked the girl, not wanting to leave her out. He glaned at Hermione, who decided to remove herself from the conversation completely. Her loss, though, Lyle would guess that she was listening to everything behind her big book. He grinned at the ti
tle. He was sure she had read that book at least 3 times before. He then turned his attention back to Olive, not wanting to be rude.

When Draco heard Lyle’s ‘casual remark’, he smiled internally. Dropping hints at how great their family was a skill all Pureblood families taught their children in the midst of many other etiquette rules. Lyle Jones had done this skillfully enough. It seemed he was well-bred. He might make a good ally yet.

“My father conducts many types of business,” Draco heard Olive say carefully. His internal grin morphed into a physical smirk. Many of the Pureblood families that ran in their circle knew that Mr. Hester conducted much of his business in the Black Market, when he wasn’t running the store they owned. He made a living for his family by selling illegal, but skillfully brewed, potions to desperate families. Mr. Hester was a Potions Master, and he was good at it.

Olive felt herself go a bit red. She wasn’t proud of what her father did, unlike the other Pureblood families. They applauded Mr. Hester on his ability to always dodge the law, and were forever getting him to help them out of sticky spots. She knew that this Black Market business was what had gotten them the mansion they lived in, and the brand new clothes she always wore, but she was ashamed, nonetheless. Her father was a true Slytherin, alright.

“He’s a Potions Master,” she continued. “Sometimes he helps out at the Ministry, but we have a family store that sells potions. Hester’s Brew.” She didn’t look like she wanted to say more, so Draco cut in.

“Are you excited to go to Hogwarts? My Father says that Slytherin is the greatest house out of the four. Ravenclaw is alright, I suppose, because they’re known for their intelligence. Hufflepuff is full to the brim of stupid, worthless people, but Gryffindor is the worst. Goody-two-shoes, Blood Traitors and Mudbloods, the lot of them,” he spat the last sentence, and realised he had said too much and revealed too much. Showing them his prejudice straight off the bat wasn’t the smartest move he had ever made.

Lyle watched Draco's reaction to his words. From that 'Draco' smirk, he could only hope that he was impressing the boy. The very thought made him smile. Lyle knew his father would be proud of him! Yes, quite proud. Making friends like these were good!

"Ah, business men,"
Lyle repeated, giving off a grin. He could see Olive's uneasiness. He decided not to comment though. He knew when to hold his toungue. This was one of those moments. "I've heard of Hester's Brew," Lyle then said, grinning over the face he knew what the shop was. "I thought I recognized your name!" He added, snapping his fingers in both excitement and suprise. He was almost... Proud of himself for knowing.

"Am I excited?"
The boy then continued, a huge grin spreading on his face. "Yes!" Then, the conversation turned a bit awkward. Lyle had wished to be in Ravenclaw, as did the girl sitting next to him. "I am personally, not a fan of Hufflepuff... I think they're just the left overs of the rest of the wizarding children... Otherwise, I'm fine with most anything." Lyle then went silent. He had mentinoed Mud bloods and Blood traitors.

Hermione went bright red as soon as Draco spat out the words 'Mud' and 'Blood'. She knew that insult was being sent her way. Though, Hermione didn't know what that word meant, she couldn't help but feel insulted, and embarrassed. The girl lifted her feet upon the compartment seat and burried her nose even further in the book. Hermione could feel eyes welling up in tears, but she refused to cry in front of these people.

Lyle saw the girl's discomfort, and gave Draco a knowing, and slightly dissapointed look. He knew that Draco did not care when insulting people like Hermione, but he could have a little class, or respect while doing it. Lyle put a calming and gentle hand on the girl's shoulder. He could feel her shaking underneith.

"Uh,"
Lyle then said suddenly. "Can you do any tricks yet? I mean, do you know how to do any spells?" He said, trying to change the subject as quick as he could. He didn't want to linger here for longer than he had to. What Draco said was uncalled for. Sure, he may hated muggle bornes, but the least he could do was to keep it to himself!

((Haha, this is my first taste at a bit of Olive-Draco drama xD))

At Draco’s remark, Olive sent him an angry look. Just what she needed – to make enemies before she made friends! And for prejudices she didn’t even share! At the rate they were going, she’d only have Draco and the Pureblood children they already knew to sit with. And Merlin knew she always felt liked slapping pug-faced Parkinson whenever she opened that big mouth of hers!

Draco felt uncomfortable when he saw the Muggleborn girl’s eyes shine with moisture. He was only repeating what his Father said! And his Father was always right…right? Anyway, Mudbloods didn’t have feelings, did they? This girl seemed to have them, though…maybe he didn’t know as much about their non-magical counterparts as he had thought. He watched as Lyle put a hand on Hermione’s shoulder, and shuddered. Touching a Mudblood! He should be ashamed!

“Of course we can!” Draco said, when he heard Lyle’s last question about being able to do spells. “We’re Purebloods, aren’t we? Our parents would never have let us go to Hogwarts looking like a Muggle, or a Squib!” Olive groaned audibly. The whole reason Lyle had asked that was to get off the subject of blood differences! She had to intervene.

“Draco, can I talk to you for a minute?” she asked him, sending Hermione and Lyle an apologetic glance. She gave Draco an angry look and pulled him to his feet, before exiting the compartment. “What are you doing in there?” she demanded, as soon as the door had closed and they were out in the hallway. “We’re supposed to be making friends! Not enemies!”

“She’s a Mudblood, Olive,” Draco said in his whiniest voice. “We can’t be friends with her!”

Olive narrowed her eyes. “No, you can’t be friends with her. Or, you won’t be friends with her because dear Uncle Lucius said so. I, on the other hand, can be friends with her, no matter what my parents say. And I hope to Merlin you haven’t ruined my chances already! You haven’t even seen what she’s like!”

“If that’s the way you feel,” Draco spat, getting defensive, “then you can just go away now and leave me alone. I won’t have you getting me in trouble with my Father. You know what he’s like!”

“I’m going now,” Olive said icily. “You can’t choose who I’ll be friends with, and I won’t let you.” She turned to leave, but Draco grabbed her arm. When she saw him, he looked miserable.

“I’m sorry, Olive,” he said quietly. “Don’t leave me, I can’t be alone… It’s just, it’s all so confusing, isn’t it? Father always said that Mudbloods didn’t have feelings, but I saw Hermione crying…”

“It’s ok to be confused,” Olive said gently, taking his hand in hers. “But we’re together, aren’t we? We’ll make it, and we’ll help each other.” She looked into the window of the compartment, and saw their two companions. “Try to be nice for the rest of the train ride at least, and when we get out, you can be as Muggle-hating as you want. I want to be their friend.”

“Ok,” Draco said reluctantly. “Only ‘cause you’re my best friend and cousin. I won’t talk to her though, and if you think I’m going to say sorry to her, forget it. At least grant me that.”

Olive nodded. “Ok.” And she opened the compartment door and pulled Draco in with her.

((Olive is awesome. c:))

Lyle, and Hermione, watched as Olive glared down her cousin at his snide remarks. At least she wasn't like him, sharing his thoughts upon muggle borns. It made him, and her, feel a bit better about their companions.

Lyle then spread a smile on his face, when Draco took his lead on spells. And then, the conversation fell right back where it was before. He had a hard time not putting his head in his hands, and ignoring the boy. Didn't he have a heart? No, most slytherins didn't...

The boy then caught Olive's appologetic look, sending one back at her. He felt sorry for her, more than she felt sorry for him and Hermione. Once they were gone, Lyle turned back to his muggle friend. "Are you okay?" He asked her, genuinely concerned.

"I... I'm fine," Hermione stammered, trying to catch her breath. She felt a few tears run down her cheeks, and she didn't like it. "W... Why is being a muggle born so bad?" She asked him, wiping the tears from her face. Though, as soon as they were gone, fresh tears took their place. "Wh... What's a m... mud blood?"

"There is nothing wrong with being a muggle!" Lyle said, almost angrily. "Nothing! And don't ever let anyone tell you differently." Lyle then paused... What was a mudblood? Did he have the heart to tell her...? No, but, he felt she should know. "It... It means 'dirty blood'... It's a cruel way of saying Muggle born. Having no 'real' magical blood in your body means a mud blood..." Lyle had put it the softest way he could, but it still did not stop the endless flow of tears running from Hermione's chocolate brown eyes.

The girl then turned away from Lyle, and the conversing pair just outside the compartment door. She didn't want to be crying when they walked back in, how embarrassing would that be? Hermione then wiped her tears away on her robe sleeve, and tried to cool her face down, to make it seem as if she were never crying. "I'm good," She finally said, turing back to Lyle, a watery smile on her face.

"Good," He said, a small smile on his own face. He said this just as Olive came back through the door, dragging Draco behind her. "We okay?" He asked, mostly as assurment that this whole incident wouldn't happen again.

((Thank you! :D I’m sorry this is very short and of bad quality, especially considering the awfully long time I took thinking it up – I’ve got some writer’s block. xD))

“We’re good,” Olive said, smiling at him. She and Draco took their seats, and for a few minutes, the compartment was silent. Olive’s brain was busy thinking of a subject that Hermione could join in on, without feeling like a complete outsider. “Umm, Hermione? What’s the Muggle world like?” She had always wanted to know, but her parents had never let her venture into it. Really, they never let her venture anywhere.

Draco sent her a disgusted look, but wisely stayed silent.

“I ask because I’m curious,” Olive said hastily, adding a silent ‘not because I want to attack you’. She gave her a friendly smile. “Families like mine would rather I stay at home, learning to be a good wife.” She laughed, a bit grimly.

((No worries. ^^ Understandable! :D))

Hermione blinked a few times, thinking she might have mis-heard Olive. Was she refering to her? Must be, no one else lived in the muggle world. Hermione quickly wiped her eyes again, making sure all tears were clear. They were.

"Uh.." She then said awkwardly. "Where to start...." The girl paused. "Well... We.. Uh, we go to school to learn muggle.. muggle abilities and to put them to the test. Many people in the muggle world turn out to be minor people, selling and trading stores, restaurant owners, lawyers -those are the people that defend who have done, or were accused of, some type of crime-, and some people turn out to be like my parents... They... They, uh, they're dentists." Hermione paused and turned a crimson color. "They work on people's teeth... Fixing them and making them straight." Hermione couldn't help but hide her own teeth at this comment. They hadn't bothered fixing hers yet, they couldn't quite afford it...

Hermione stayed a light pink shade as she stopped talking. How embarrassing. She was certainly the black sheep in this grouping. Then, suddenly, Hermione let out a small gasp. "Th.. There it is!" She squealed, pointint outside the window. The castle was finally in sight. And, boy, wasn't Hermione excited. She just hoped there were more people just as excited as she was!

"Look, Lyle!" The girl squealed again. She pulled his robe and nearly pressed the boy's face upon the cold window. "We're finally here!!"

"...I see that, Hermione,"
Lyle said with a half-hearted laugh. He had never seen someone so... Excited and happy before! "You guys ready for this?" He asked with a grin to both Olive and Draco. He was ready. Ready for whatever that school threw his way. Lyle would take it, and make it great.

((Let's get this Hogwarts show on the road! ;D))

((Whoo! Thanks hun. I couldn’t quite figure out how to get them out of the awkward train carriage. ;) Sorry about Hagrid’s awkward dialogue.))

Olive and Draco had parted ways with Lyle and Hermione once the great masses of students had emptied out of the train. Olive had wanted to stay with them, but Draco had been firm in saying that she’d only said to be nice to them for the rest of the train ride, and did she want him to be mean to Hermione again? Olive had glared at him.

Looking around the crowded platform, she gasped when she saw a great mass of bushy hair towering over the rest of the people.

“Oh, look, Draco!” Olive squealed. “It’s Hagrid!” She grabbed his arm.

“I don’t think there’s anything special about a filthy half-giant,” Draco said, but without the usual bite his venomous words retained.

“Draco, you’re so mean,” Olive pouted. She laughed. “That’s what I love about you. Anyway, don’t you remember what Mother and Father said? Hagrid’ll take us on boats to Hogwarts!”

Draco’s ex
pression visibly brightened. “I’m gonna push you in the water!” Olive slapped his hand away.

“I’ll push you in first!”

Laughing, they ran to join a large crowd around Hagrid, who was now crowing, “Firs’ years! Fir’s years!” He looked around the group, and when his gaze rested for a second on Draco’s face, Draco gave a haughty and impudent stare back. The Gamekeeper looked so startled, Olive had to laugh. He led the group through thick foliage behind the platform, and soon they reached a large lake.

“You’ll all be takin’ the boats ter Hogwarts,” Hagrid said. He swept his arm behind him, gesturing to an assembly of boats large enough to fit four of the 11 and 12 year olds. Olive gripped Draco’s arm even harder. Oh, the excitement!

“Better get the best and newest looking boat,” Draco whispered, and Olive rolled her eyes. Typical Draco, always wanting the finest in life. When Hagrid gave the signal, the mass of First Years ran to get a boat with their friends, and this time it was Draco pulling Olive towards a boat.

“It doesn’t look very new to me,” Olive said.

“Yes, well,” Draco replied, eyeing it with distaste, “it’s the best I saw. C’mon, I’ll help you in.” He jumped in first, then took her hand. Olive carefully stepped into the boat, her heart leaping when it rocked a little. When she was safely sat down, she sighed in relief.

“Now we just have to wait for two other people to join us,” she stated matter-of-factly, and no sooner had the words left her mouth when she saw two figures approaching their boat.

((I’m going to be off for the night, Shay, so I’ll reply in the morning. <3 Oh, and those two figures don’t have to be Lyle and ‘Mione if you’d rather they stayed a part for a while. I just thought I might give you the opening, just in case, but I have another scene in mind if you don’t take it. :D))

((Hehe, okay! :D I think I'm going to have them sit with like, Luna and Nevill. <3 ))

Hermione couldn't help but feel relieved as soon as their 'friends' left them in the hoarde of students rushing out of the train. It was as if a huge weight had been lifted off of her chest. She grabbed all of her things, stuffing her book, Hogwarts, A History, into her bag. "Well, Olive seemed nice," Hermione then said to Lyle, not even bothering to comment on that draco boy.

"Yes,"
Lyle said, not really paying attention. He was currently trying to soothe his cat out from under the seats. The cat just wouldn't come! "Brett," He cooed softly. "Get over here kitty! I don't want to leave you..." With this, the cat then yowled loudly, and obnoxiously, but exited from under the seats. Lyle then grabbed his cat and looked up to Hermione. "Uh, yes, Olive was rather nice," He added quickly, not wanting Hermione feel like she was being ignored.

"Come on!" Hermione said excitedly, grabbing Lyle by the front of his robes. She practically drug the boy to Hagrid. At the sight of the large man, Hermione went limp. She almost cowered under his shadow. The girl's eyes grew much larger than any normal human's should have. "He's huge," Hermione stated blankely to Lyle, still staring.

"Yeah."
Lyle said, equally amazed. He had never seen anyone so... Big! Sure, he may be a half breed with a giant, but still! He was... Huge! "To the boats!" He then said happily, dragging Hermione with him this time, though she didn't seem to mind.

They went to the first boat they saw, though it already had two people in it. Two people neither of them had seen before. "Hi," A blonde-haired girl said in a rather far-off and dreamy voice. "My name is Luna, what are your names?" The girl seemed to be geniunely interested.

"Hi Luna," Hermione said cheerfully. This was the type of person she prefered... Other than that damned Draco. "I'm Hermione Granger! And this is Lyle Jones!" Hermione stated this as she dragged Lyle, and herself, into the rockety boat. Sure, it was small and cramped, but no one really seemed to mind. "And you are?" She then asked, turning to Neville.

"I... I'm Neville," The boy said nervously. Lyle thought it was a bit funny about his reaction. The boy must not like water or something... He thought to himself, holding in a small laugh.
"Nice to meet you all," He said cheerfully.

"I can't wait to see the Great Hall!" Hermione then interjected, speaking excitedly. "I've read that the ceiling actually changes to the weather! It's supposed to be an amazing sight!"

"Oh yes," Luna said, a dreamy smile on her face. The girl then started swatting around her face. "Sorry, wakspurt! Those darned things can buzz around you and make your mind fuzzy, my daddy told me so!"

Hermione then exchanged glances with Lyle. This girl was insane... "I don't believe Wakspurts actually exsist," Hermione then started. "I would have read about them if they did." A frown appeared on the girl's face. She didn't like it much.

"No, my daddy told me so! They aren't written about often, because most people can't write about them after they've encountered them! The Wakspurts have already done their dirty work."

"Uh, sure," Hermione then said, attempting not to roll her eyes at the girl. How ridiculous was this! Then, the boat hit the shore, thrusting everyone foreward. "We're here!" Hermione said happily, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

“Come on, Ron, the boats will be leaving soon,” Olive heard one of the figures say exasperatedly. He had messy black hair and was wearing glasses.

“I’m coming, Harry,” the other figure, Ron, replied. “It’s just this – stupid – chocolate frog – keeps jumping away!” He gave a yell when it hopped out of his hand and into the murky depths of the lake. “ARGH!”

“Better luck next time, mate,” Harry said sympathetically. He stopped walking when he reached Draco and Olive’s boat. “D’you think we can share a boat with you two?”

“Sure,” Olive said, smiling. She moved over a bit to make more room for them. Suddenly, she heard Hagrid’s voice, telling them to get into the boats because they would be leaving in a few seconds. “Hurry!”

Harry and Ron both jumped into the boat at the same time, and the boat rocked dangerously. Olive gripped the edge of the boat so hard that her knuckles turned white, and she saw Draco doing the same, his face paler than usual. She knew he didn’t like water. A small giggle escaped her mouth when she saw his frightened face, and he glared at her.

“Sorry ‘bout that,” Harry said when they had settled and the boat started moving. He grinned. “The name’s Harry Potter.” He held his hand out, and Olive took it, shaking.

“Olive Hester.”

He grinned. “Pleasure to meet you. My friend here is Ronald We-”

“Weasley,” Draco drawled, cutting in. Olive turned to see him sneering at the red-headed boy. “Red hair, hand-me-down robes. I’d know a Blood Traitor like you anywhere.” Ron grew red, and started shaking.

“You’re that Malfoy boy, aren’t you?” he said, with an equal amount of contempt. “Albino with a face that makes you look like a ferret.” Olive and Harry burst out laughing, and it was Draco that grew red this time. The colour looked strange on him.

“You got beat that time, Draco, admit it,” Olive giggled. He gave her a look that would have killed anyone but her; she was immune. It was hard to be intimidated by the young Malfoy heir when you knew the exact day he stopped bed-wetting. Olive decided that she rather liked these Weasley and Potter characters. Anyone who could stand up to Draco’s bullying could be her friend.

Of course, she had heard about them before. The Potter name was well-known amongst the Wizarding population of England. James Potter was the Chaser for the Chudley Cannons. And the Weasleys…well, most of the Pureblood families held a special disdain for them. They were very friendly with Muggles and Muggleborns. Olive liked them a lot.

“So, all ready for Hogwarts?” she said brightly, ignoring Draco skulking in the corner.

“Definitely,” Harry replied, nodding enthusiastically.

“I just want to get to the feast,” Ron moaned, picturing mountains of food in his head. His stomach grumbled, making Harry chuckle.

“He’s always hungry,” he told Olive.

As they joked around, carefully keeping off the subject of Houses, Draco watched them with narrowed eyes. Olive was joking around with Blood Traitors. That Jones boy and that Mudblood girl had been bad influences on her. Reinforcing the idea into her that Mudbloods had feelings. And then she had gotten angry with him! Well, he didn’t have to be with her. Pansy and Blaise and Theodore were all just as good a conversation as she was. Maybe if he didn’t talk to her for the rest of the evening, she would come to her senses.

“We’re here,” he said shortly when the boat stopped. He got out of the boat stiffly, and walked briskly away. He could feel Olive staring after him.

“Why’d you just walk away?”

Draco ignored her and walked to where the small cluster of Pureblood children were. He could feel Olive’s hurt practically radiating off her, but he ignored that too.

“Draco, mate!” Blaise exclaimed, slapping him on the shoulder. “Where’s Olive? Thought you two were inseparable.”

Before Draco could reply, the gigantic doors to the Hogwarts Entrance Hall creaked open, and a woman stood in the doorway. He knew her to be Minerva McGonagall.

For a few seconds, she stared them down. Then, “First Years, follow me.”

((Eesh, I think I’ve been rambling. xD))
