Rawsha Clunked through the street her ears stung she had to mash them down with a knit hat to cover them up.She hated them they were huge,the size of ping-pong paddles.Her ash grey make-up ran down her pale flawless face,her small pink lips quivered.Life was one big disappointment.She was on the run alone and cold,no one knew her no one understood her.She was a shadow, a spec of dust in the world but it was better to be unnoticed then to be talked about,er found out about right?.Right? sometimes she qeustioned.

Faster! Faster, he's gonna catch us! Ashley's paws beat a frantic rhythm on the cold pavement as he strained to put distance between himself and his pursuers. Man, didn't the dog catchers around here have anything better to do than chase HIM? Hurry up! Hurry up! Locket jingled in his ear as they turned down a neglected alleyway. The sound of running feet and angry barking echoed unnervingly off the brick walls behind them. They needed to hide, Ashley thought desperately, but where was there to hide when you had a tracking-dog on your tail? There, there! Locket's bell-like voice called franticly, drawing his attention to a young girl crossing the street directly in front of them. He barked his recognition -yeah, that was a great idea! He darted toward Rawsha, barking in the most friendly way he knew how. When he reached her side, the small wolf rubbed himself against her legs in an affectionate canine gesture while Locket quickly concealed herself behind a nearby bench. The dog catcher and his partner were not far behind. "That your dog miss?" The stocky man panted as he stepped out onto the sidewalk, his German Shepherd trotting beside him and eying Ashley with obvious distrust. The small wolf let out a low whine, butting his head up against Rawsha's hand in a desperate attempt to win her favor. If she didn't play along, he'd end up collared and dragged off to the city pound -again!

Rawsha looked over her shoulder at the dog.She grinned and gave a quick wink.She straighten her face and begane to speak "Why yes,this is lucky" She got down on her knees so she was face to face with the dog that strangly seemed familiar "lucky! i was looking all over for you,be a good boy okay?" She looked at the officer "im so sorry he got out of..... my yard,it wont happen again"Once the man left she stood up looked at him "c'mon i now a place we can go" SHe led him to a small abandoned house not far off.She showed him up to the door."ya hungry? dont worry your in good company.

Ashley padded softly at Rawsha's heels, every so often glancing backward to make sure that the dog catcher and his pet were far behind them. Whew, that had been a close one...of course, now came the problem of gently removing himself from his current situation. He was certainly grateful the the girl that had helped him escape, but he wasn't about to let her turn him into a house pet. Hmm, maybe he could wait for her to fall asleep, then slip out the back... Locket landed on his back with a soft jingle, burying herself into the thick fur on his neck. Nonono, home now! She hissed irritably, tugging on his necklace. He growled a soft warning to the pixie. Yeah yeah, he knew that they needed to get back. If she'd just relax a minute he'd take care of it. |

It was hard to read facial expressions on a canine face, but the way his left ear twitched when Rawsha made her announcement suggested that he was surprised. Botherpest Girlydog. Locket jingled angrily, darting from her hiding place and hovering several inches above Ashley's head. The young werewolf sat down on the worn wooden floor, his round golden eyes watching Rawsha imp*censored*ively. He flinched, then shifted. "Half-breed, eh?" The boy asked, his voice somewhat raspy as he shook off the discomfort of his transformation and tried to remember how to use human words. "Shoulda guessed when I smelled ya. I just figured y'smelled like someone with a dog or two at home- that' why I went for ya." He seemed to be either ignoring or unaware of the fact that it was late October and he was sitting on the floor of an abandoned house wearing only a beaded necklace. Locket continued to jingle her incoherent rage. There just seemed to be something about Rawsha that really, really, REALLY got under the pixie's skin.

Rawsha looked at to the pixie and pinched her small flawless nose "i helped ya didnt i?your in my home arent cha?" girlydog she muttered under her breath.She rembered the names her old 'friends' had called her but they were far worse she looked over her shoulder and gulped.Then rolled tears back in her eyes and turned to them,she hadnt really quite gotten over the loveless abandon live she lived.She looked back to Ashley her eyes widened "uh,do you.....want um clothes"She covered her eyes"also im Rawsha,and you guys,oh and by the way i dont smell like a dog!....do i??"She turned and stood up then went to look through her clothes hanging off old twine hanging over the old wood stove,the think brown string was loosely tied on knobs on rotten cabnets.Her bright clothes were a big contrast againist the the brown and mossy house,she found a pair of pants from her brothers old clothes,the last memory of him she hugged them and turned to the boy,it was hard not to stare but she just looked down to her feet and p*censored*ed him the jeans."keep em' ill try and find a shirt thats not too big on you." She saw his tiny frame and her large belly and hips,it stung he was a good looking boy,much better looking than her she thought.

"You don't really live here, do you?" Ashley wondered out loud, casting his eyes around the dilapidated building. It was little more than a dirty, dimly lit windbreak with no electric heat or light to fill the empty rooms -a really depressing place to be with winter coming on. It was the kind of place he'd expect to find a stray dog, not a young girl. Sillygirly fluster funny skinscared. Locket taunted from the rafters as she watched Rawsha's face turn red. Ashley seemed not to notice the pixie's antics as he absent-mindedly accepted the pants."Nah, that's fine." He told Rawsha with a small smile and a dismissive wave of his hand as she offered to find him a shirt. "I'll just have to take it off again later." He tugged on the worn jeans for her sake, if not his own. He didn't really feel the cold the way humans did anymore. The boy ran a hand through his tangled brown hair, offering the other to Rawsha. "I'm Ashley -and no worries, you don't smell THAT much like a dog. A human wouldn't notice it." Dog smelly bigears girlysmelly. Locket jeered, drawing an annoyed look from her demi-human companion. "That's Lock. She's pretty annoying and nasty, so try to ignore her." Stupid NOTdog Locket PRETTY! BEAUTIFUL Locket not dumbstupid smelly girldog! The pixie chattered angrily, swooping down to tug on the young werewolf's ear. He brushed her away impatiently, scowling.

Rawsha looked into Ashleys sweet blue eyes with her mixmatched swamp colored ones,she gulped her face became serious "m,yes...this is where i live,i found it this uh spring after....." her voice trailed off.She looked to the pixie and grabbed her by her fragile little wing and looked at "why are being like this huh? the she flicked her away."if shes so nasty then why are you with her?" She smiled.Her heart thudded,there was something about ashley.Her ears twitched.She put her hands over them to pat them down them took a hat and covered them."sorry bout those ugly things,i dont want you to have to see them,sickening arent they?"She stood up and covered her tail.Then sat back down."so where uh do you live?"

"Well, she isn't usually this bad. She's jut got a problem with other girls talking to Prosper and me for more than a couple seconds. Dunno why." Ashley rolled his eyes at the irritable little sprite, resting his hands on his hips. He quirked an eyebrow at Rawsha's hurried attempts to hide her ears and tail. "Nothin' wrong with your ears." He said plainly, his curious ex
pression suggesting that he didn't understand why she would think there was anything wrong with them. "You're still a pup, right? Fourteen or somethin'? You'll grow into 'em." The boy plopped himself down in front of Rawsha, pawing a handful of hair out of his face. "I live with a friend of mine. He's a pretty cool guy -lets me eat and sleep at his place so long as I steer clear of the local packs. His folks left him some money or something, so he looks after strays."

pression of deep puzzlement. "Man, you must watch a lotta movies. Y' sound like the tagline to a bad fantasy-romance story." A small, teasing smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "The whole world isn't out to get ya. I mean sure, its tough to be a stray -probably tougher for you half breeds 'cause you're easier to pick on. There are a lotta jerks out there, but there's a lot of nice people too." He leaned in toward her, his pale eyes taking on an appraising gleam as he gave her a good long looking over. "As for you being ugly...nah, not even." He smiled, lifting a hand to wipe some of the damp grey makeup from her cheek. "If you didnt wear so much of that eye junk you might even be pretty cute. You got some nice eyes hiding in there somewhere...ha, found one!" He grinned, using his thumb to gently wipe the tears from her left eye. "Soft ears, nice eyes, cute little nose -yep, you got it all there. You just gotta ditch some of the stuff you're hiding 'em under."
