I want to use this image--http://news.cnet.com/i/bto/20080118/tiger_540x315.jpg--for making a banner, but I just want the tiger on it, not the whole image with the trees in the background. How do I make the background on the image transparent?

Yea, i want to know this too because everytime i want a transparent picture I have to erase the whole background and that takes a lot of time if you want it to look perfect...(My friends says that I am the queen of perfection...I don't agree even though I work very, very hard at not making any mistakes.)

I can only help you if you have Photoshop. And by help I of course mean I am going to post a link to a tutorial.

I'm pretty sure you can do the same in GIMP, if you have that instead.
