Kris, who was rolled up in a ball attempting to sleep, rolled her eyes at this conversation. As much as SHE wanted to go and attack the mutts that put her in this place, she probably wasn't an option. She wasn't big or have claws, but she did have teeth and a raging anger. That's probably why both of her legs were chained to the back of the cage. She had a bad habit of leaping out and being violent to those who got around her cage. Whoops.

"I second the plan, spot-boy," Kris finally said, aiming her comment at Aiden. Part cheetah, spot boy? Made sense to her. She didn't lift her head to speak to him, but her comment was loud enough to carry over there. "Besides, I think we've been in these dirty cages long enough, don't you?" Hah, wasn't that the truth. Besides, if they left while birdy was gone, she wasn't so sure how many would risk themselves to get her back.

The petite girl lifted her head to look into the cage next to her, where The Rat slept. Rat was, of course, referring to the snake of a man who ratted everyone out: Ten. He was sound asleep, softly snoring into his pillow which he had gotten for 'good behavior'. Yeah right, good behavior her ass. Everyone pretty much suspected he was a little snark, but no one had gotten the chance to act on it, seeing how Ten pretty much had the security on his tail all of time. Not in a bad way, like her though, but in a good, 'I'll protect you even if I have to kill them' kind of way. It wouldn't be the first time someone had been attacked by the guards while trying to get to Ten. The aching scar on her side agreed with her.

Bear nodded, flashing his fangs in an unusual smile. He actually kind of wanted himself to be next, just to have the satisfaction of sinking his teeth into human flesh and freeing the others. His gaze drifted to the lizard boy, the snitch. Was he really asleep, or just waiting to tell the scientists of their plan?

Lirik and Jaybird, still holding hands, seemed to be at least half awake and listening, but Bear didn't know if they'd be able to survive the escape, even with his help. He didn't doubt someone wouldn't make it out, and he secretly hoped it would be Jaybird. The little twerp needed to stay away from Lirik, or she'd end up getting them all killed.

"What now," Lirik spoke, sitting up in her cage. "What if they kill her? The poor little bird... What if they kill us all when we try to escape? Maybe we should stay here..." She fretted, huge ears turning this way and that as she pulled at the leathery sails of her wings.

"Are you kidding me?" Tawny hissed in a sudden bout of anger. "Stay here? That's the worst idea I've heard in my entire life! They'll probably end up killing us once they've finished studying us anyway, so why not try to escape? At least we'll have tried, and if we succeed, we'll live. What could be better than that?"

It was now Ace's turn to gape. Normally his sister was calm, cheerful and relaxed. It took a lot to get under her fur. And now she was yelling at a girl she barely knew. Ace shook his head in disbelief. Tensions were rising past the breaking point, and he knew if they stayed much longer in this place, they'd go crazy, or worse.

Full Name: Sebastian
Nickname: He knows his name is rather long, but hates being called 'Bastian'. Seth however, is fine with him.
Age: He thinks he might be 17
Gender: Male
Personality: Quiet and transparent around people he doesn't know/trust. Once his trust is earned he eases back quite a bit and becomes rather friendly. He's a tad on the paranoid side and refuses to sleep alone at night, though being part feline and part owl allows him to be nocturnal.
Appearance: About 6 feet tall and fairly muscular. He's got auburn hair, which is fairly long for a boy's and is usually tied at the back of his head. He's got a face like a large cat's, with small, slightly rounded ears and fur around it. The rest of his body is covered in fur, save for a few places where his skin is bare. Around his wrists and ankles there are small white feathers, as well as on his chest. Sprouting from a second set of shoulder blades on his back, there is a set of large wings like those of a great horned owl. They usually stay folded behind his back; he hasn't been able to figure out flying yet.
As for clothing, he wears denim blue jeans and a dark brown t-shirt, semi-covered by a light brown corduroy jacket. His shoes are plain black boots.
Mutation%: 90% human, 7% great horned owl, 3% saber-toothed cat
Sexuality: Bisexual
Other: (sorry the des-crip-tion is so long ^^')

J looked at the light under the iron door.  That annoying bird girl had been gone for quite a while...  Then, a large clanging came from the other side!  Before only a few light thuds were heard, but this was a big sound, so big it hurt J's ears.  The others started fidgeting and chatting, something was going on on the other side of the door!

Everything had happened so quickly!  Chirp looked at the man with the sleek black hair who had tried to stick her with a needle.  He was surrounded by broken glass and golden leaves.  After about an hour of him trying to stab her with that needle, Chirp had finally been able to get her message over to the trees, who came to her rescue.  Suddenly, the door opened and about half a dozen scientists ran in with some new devices Chirp had never seen.  Trees and roots sprang at the group, entangling them and taking away their weapons.

The roots reached out and easily broke the chains around Chirp's wrists.  She motioned for them to help her.

Suddenly, the bright light was back in J's eyes.  What did the scientists want now?!  When he could finally open his eyes, there was the bird girl!  And she was FREE!?!

Suddenly, snakes jumped out from behind her and attacked every cage!  I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!  I hissed at the reptiles until I noticed the door was open...  "Oh."  I watched as the brown weird looking... wait, those aren't snakes!  Those are roots?!  A few other animals watched the plant things slither back to the bird.

"Let's go!"  She cried as she ran into the Forbidden Room.

Sebastian woke from his sedative-induced sleep with a start, afraid the commotion outside meant the scientists had come back to perform more tests. The owl-cat-human backed into the corner of his cell, golden cat eyes wide as he growled low in his throat. Sure he was terrified, but he wouldn't let them know that. Seth was aware there were others, but he hadn't tried conversing with them yet. He'd heard them speaking of a plan to escape. Perhaps if he'd opted to converse with them earlier it wouldn't be so difficult now. The noises stopped and he relaxed some, curling up specifically so that any vital organs were protected with his wings wrapped around his body protectively. He did not sleep, rather, he listened and observed.

Full Name: Beauregard
Nickname: Bo
Age: He believes he's 14.
Gender: He's a very feminine-looking boy.
Personality: Shy, nervous, and easily confused.
Appearance: Standing at twelve feet tall when fully stretched out and about five feet tall when partially coiled up (I tried to compensate for the length of his naga body), this feminine boy is completely human from the waist up. He keeps his short blonde hair spiked. His eyes are amber and slitted like a snake's. His tan skin fades into black and grey scales at the waist. Below the waist, his body becomes that of a snake, specifically that of a king cobra, stretching out for a good many feet behind him. Poisonous fangs drip from his mouth, but he's too afraid to use them on anyone. A pair of wings with a total span of 24 feet spread from his shoulderblades. Though he doesn't know what species they are, they are strong enough to support his entire weight.
Mutation%: 90% human, 8% king cobra, 2% African crowned eagle
Sexuality: Gay
Other: None

Sorry, what happened is that Chirp is able to talk to plants, so she convinced the trees to help her and the rest of the mutants escape, so right now the trees are freeing the mutants!

((I have an idea, Bloodnyan. How about the trees forget to unlock Bo or his wing is broken or something so he can't get out, and when Lirik goes back to get him, that's when she gets killed?))

Bear wasted no time in leaping out of his cage and freeing his sister, pulling her away when she tried to go back and unlock Jaybird's cage, giving her the excuse "the roots will handle it, we have to get out of here." To his surprise, she didn't argue, just nodded and ran with him, hand in hand, until they reached the cover of the forest.
Locke followed in great leaps and bounds, nearly galloping too far into the murky woods. She doubled over, gasping for breath, and tried to speak.

"S-someone's still in th-there. Bird boy." And before she could even bl
ink again, Lirik was running back inside, bat-girl to the rescue. Locke almost wanted to follow her, but decided it wasn't worth the risk; whoever was left was probably dead by now, and Liri would be too in a short while.
--
It didn't take Lirik long to find the boy, who's cage hadn't been touched by the roots. She dropped to her knees, fumbling blindly with the lock until it popped open. As soon as she stood and moved away to give the mutant room to escape, an arm was around her neck and a needle in her side, something fatal being injected into her bloodstream. She could already feel her heart slowing dangerously. Her last thought was of Jaybird, who she'd seen laying dead, still in her cage, on the way to rescue the other boy.

OOC//: Was that good? ;u; ))

Tawny leaped out of the cage almost as soon as it was unlocked, dragging Ace by his shirt collar behind her. "Come on!" she yelled over all the chaos. The twins screamed and clawed at the scientists, creating a distraction in order for the others to escape. Once it was clear, the two bound towards the forest on all fours, their ears flat against their heads and tails streaming behind them.

~

Bo screamed in shock at the sight of the girl dying before him. With the speed of a snake, he lunged out of his cage, grabbed the scientist, and sunk his poisonous fangs into her neck. Then he dropped the scientist and coiled down to scoop up the dying girl in his arms. "No, no, no, don't die, please don't die, please," he mumbled, tears dripping down his face. He wondered why he was crying for this poor girl he didn't even know. She was trying to save him, and now she was dying in the process.

Kris had just finally nodded back to sleep when she heard commotion in the hallway. Suddenly, and without warning, these things that she couldn't identify came into the room and actually started to release those in the cages. Her first instinct was to swat at the snake-like creatures for rescuing her; she could have gotten out just fine by herself. Her second reaction was to swat at the same things that were reaching for Ten's cage as well. If any single creature in here deserved to stay and get tested on, it was that little jerk.

It wasn't but a moment later that instinct kicked in and Kris was running out of there. Some guy in a coat attempted to reach for her on her way out, but he was instantly laid out. Never get between an angry girl and her freedom, especially when it's all she has wanted for years.

Moments later, Kris was out of the frenzy and sprinting towards the treeline. She didn't go too far in. She wanted to watch to see if others, well, Ten, came out. Her lungs burned, she was sweating, but the girl couldn't help but laugh. She was alive, and that's what this whole thing was for, right? Not for her, of course, but for them all.

Ten stayed in his cage as long as he could, wondering if all of this was a trick. He, eventually, crawled out and wandered down the hallway, wondering where in the hell, and exactly how, tree roots and branches were crowding the halls and floors. There was a coat passed out on the floor, needle in hand, that Ten had no doubt was Kris' fault. He stooped down and grabbed the needle, hiding it in his pocket before he stepped outside. The sudden burst of sunlight was no big deal to him - he hadn't been so cooped up like the others. Movement into the treeline both attracted and repelled him. First off, freedom, secondly? Recently freed mutants who he helped stay there and ratted out. Decisions, decisions.

Liri panicked, scrabbling at the snake-boy's arms and trying to form words. She felt a tear drip from the corner of her eye, and fought for breath against the sudden weight on her lungs. Her organs were shutting down, and she knew she wouldn't live. Her eyes flickered to another mutant who'd been forgotten, the owl, and she tried to tell the naga to leave her and help him, but her voice still wouldn't work. She convulsed once more, then lay still, black eyes still open and staring.

Outside, Bear paced and growled, swiping at the trees with his claws. Only common sense was keeping him from charging in after her.

Bo bit his lip - not with his fangs, but with his regular teeth. "Goodbye," he whispered to the girl, letting her body slip to the ground. Spotting the owl, he slithered over and used the tip of his serpentine tail to unlock the cage. "Good luck," he said to the figure inside. Then with several hard beats of his wings, he was off the ground and flying out the door.

*~*

"I think we're lost."

"We're not lost."

"Oh yeah? Then where are we, smartypants?" countered Tawny. "We've never been outside the Institute in our entire lives! Of course we're lost!"

Ace sighed, slowing his pace. "I'm tired." The cheetah-mutant rose onto two legs and glanced around. "I don't see any scientists. Let's climb a tree and see if we can spot anyone else."

Tawny growled. "Fine. But if they have a chopper and they shoot us, I'm going to come back as a zombie and eat your brains."

((And with that, I'm off to bed. Goodnight guys. Don't go too far without me - I have school tomorrow from 5-3 Res time. May or may not have homework.))

When Bear saw the naga come flying out without Liri, he knew she was dead, Jaybird too, and didn't hesitate to turn and take off in the direction the other two cat mutants had run, loping easily on two legs rather than four. They'd probably drive him off, but he had to try. The mutants had to stay together, they were all each other had, right?

Locke hesitated, taking several steps back and forth between the Institute and freedom. On one hoof, everyone was probably dead, on the other, there may be the chance someone else was stuck inside. Besides, there was no telling what horrible things would be done to the bodies. One second too long, and the deer mutant was startled out of her indecision by a loud wailing siren, and the far-off whir of helicopter blades. She leapt into the forest after the others, dappled pelt and skin camouflaging her against the sunlit forest floor. As she went, she couldn't help but think... what now? They'd escaped, almost too easily, but what did the human world have to offer a group of mutant freaks?

Sebastian stared at the open door to his cage. Out the door he saw the others who hadn't made it out. He felt upset that their lives had ended unjustly, regardless of whether he'd known them or not. The sound of sirens roaring to life startled the owl out of his cage quickly. He looked around frantically, hearing more humans rushing to the area. Without a second thought, he scooped the bat girl's body into his arms and sprinted towards the exit. Once outside, he leapt into the air and took flight. As he flew away, albeit clumsily, his thoughts were to get the mutant who had died returning to free the ones like himself, who had been left behind to a place where her body could be buried, to prevent the scientists from getting a hold of it.

((I'm not quite sure whether there's supposed to be an order or not. If so, I'm sorry if I messed it up. ^^"))
