So if any of you are familiar with the Maximum Ride series, and even if you aren't I guess, this rp will be a bit like that in the way that it's about genetically 'inhanced' mutants escaping from the evil scientists that created them, and the struggle to stay away from them and possibly rescue the rest of the mutants and shut down the facility. Except these wont just be bird mutants, it can be any animal that has existed in the real world. So no dragons, since we've not got dna proof of them, but dinos are ok. And you can also do plants, but I'm not sure how well that would work. I'm expecting some of them to die, so make extra characters, if you don't want your 'favorite' to die off. Some of them do have expiration dates, and some of their mutations can kill them. Please keep deaths, violence, and romance PG-13, as per the Res rules, but if it becomes an issue we can move to a chatzy I have set aside for the rp. Only four characters per person, please no less than two lines a post. I understand writers block, but do your best.

He doesn't trust anyone, except for his 'sister', who really has no biological relation to him, but he's adopted her anyway and he loves her to death. He's incredibly overprotective of her, and does everything in his power to keep her happy. Appearance: Stands about 6'3, lean frame and surprisingly strong muscles. Everything about him is sharp and slender, from angular, cat-like face, to thin violinist fingers. Full Name: Lirik Nickname: She'll answer to anything Age: Fourteen Personality: Patient and innocent, she's extremely friendly and trusting, and likes to pretend she knows everything. Appearance: Pixie-cut ginger hair, eyes that are all black, like sclera contact lenses. Huge, leathery bat wings attach to her arms and run down her body to attach to her legs, and connect together between her legs where her small tail is. She's got a very small frame, only barely making 5'3, with long fingers and a slightly upturned nose. Two huge bat ears grow from the sides of her head where her normal ears would be, and she has incredibly sharp fangs. Some parts of her body are patched with brown and tan scales, almost in a diamond pattern. Mutation%: 90% human, 8% vampire bat, 2% diamond-back rattlesnake Sexuality: Bisexual Other: She's venomous and really can't see very well at all. She prefers to be awake during the night and asleep during the day, and has great hearing.

Appearance: Small, a little taller than Lirik, and extremely gangly, with a small, sharp nose and pointed ears, with a cuff of bright teal feathers around them. She has feathers instead of eyebrows, and her hair is incredibly soft, like the down of a bird, and even comes up to a crest in the back. Her eyes are wide, doe-like, and lilac in color. She sports a pair of bluejay wings that seem almost too big for her small frame, as well as a gorgeous bluejay tail, which she's always tripping over. Her hands and feet are scaled, colored black, and tipped in sharp talons. She's got a ruff of black feathers on her neck, around her hips, and on her knees and elbows right before they get scaly. Her skin, at second glance, is light blue in color, except for her chin, neck, chest, and stomach, which are white, like the coloring of a bluejay. Full Name: Subject 0043 Nickname: Locke (pronounced like 'lock') Age: Sixteen Gender: Female Personality: Fiery and intense, but susceptible to intense mood swings that leave her curled in a corner, sobbing. She loves to crack jokes, play pranks, and jokingly flirt, when the situation calls for it, but that's all really just covering up her darker mentality; she knows she's a monster, a freak, and she'd rather kill herself than live like this, but she wouldn't ever let the others know. Appearance: From hoof to withers, she's about 13hh, waist to head she stands at four feet even. She's a deertaur, she'd been born without the use of her legs, so the scientists grafted her waist to that of a young piebald white-tail doe, and injected her with reindeer DNA. She has shoulder-length brown hair with natural dark red highlights. Two small antlers grow from her forehead and, being a doe, she doesn't shed them. Her fur is mostly brown, mottled with white and black. Her eyes are huge and expressive, one dark brown and one bright blue, and her skin has the same mottled pattern as her fur, but much, much lighter and paler. Being part martial eagle, she has grown a huge set of wings, nearly nineteen feet across, dark brown on top and white on bottom. A thick ruff of feathers surrounds her neck and trails down her back, all the way to her tails(one feathered and one deer).

Chirp "Ugh, I've been stuck in a small bird cage in this eerie, disgusting smelling room for days... or maybe years... I don't know anymore! I lost count. Oh, and the worst part is, is that they won't let a song bird sing, yeah! I know right? I mean, I'm like, OMG, and they're like, shut up freak." I cried into my wing as the creature in the cage across from me hissed, "What ever bird. At least you're not treated like a house cat and given a litter box." Then I saw two amber eyes reflect in the dark from the cage, "I like your eyes," I cooed, only to have a hiss back. "Little sissy bird, oh if only I could have your delicate bones in my maw. I've only had dry cat food for ever since forever." For a long period of darkness was just the yowling of a cat until a man turned on a light. All of the mutants hissed out, a few even screamed at the sudden sharpness of light, "Wake up ya little freaks," the man was old and bald. How can anything live without feathers? Then I looked at the cat thing across from me. Oh... yeah. I started whistling a tune only to have the old man slam the side of my cage with his cane, he muttered something too human for me to understand. I was more in tune to plants and birds than humans. The cat man called it cussing or something like that, but I don't know how he can understand them so easily. Maybe he's been around them more.

Bear snarled as the old man passed, flattening his ears against his head and trying to reach out of the small spaces between the bars to swipe his claws at him, only earning him a sharp slap on the wrist with the cane. He yowled, and spit a string of half-growled curses at him.
Lirik cringed, squeaking lowly, and cowered in the back of her small entrapment, one small hand pushed as far out the side as it could go, holding the hand of the mutant next to her, who went by the name of Jaybird, and was looking on in uncharacteristic silence as the human passed. As soon as he left, the smaller mutant chirped and chittered in fear, and Lirik ached to hold her. Those horrid humans would pay, she'd get Bear to make them regret ever doing this to them.
"Don't worry, little bird, we'll get out of here soon, I promise." The bat mutant murmured lowly to Jaybird, and heard a hopeful peep from her.

Chirp After the old unmutant chained me up, he pulled me through the metal door and into a room I had never been into. The room where my cage was went crazy, I don't know why, but worms were wiggling in my gut. Too bad I'm not an owl, then I could say my gizzard, or whatever that organ is that makes pellets or whatever they spit out. Yuck, never mind. I was shoved into the dark room, it was so scary not knowing my surroundings. Then, slowly, some metal lifted up. Behind it was a Demitree's (tree mutant) dream! There was a giant forest of all sorts of evergreen and my favorite, aspens. I gasped in awe, trying to reach out to my brethren, the aspen trees, but then I noticed the chains around my wrists were attacked to a lock on the wall. I cawed out to the trees in a language only a herboly (something that can speak to plants or trees) could understand. "No need to scream little bird." A dark shadow stood behind a desk in the corner, "You're just one of the few lucky experiments that gets to go bye bye." I screamed for help as the trees seemed to sway in the window. The human didn't seem to notice as he came at me with a needle, "don't worry my precious."

Tawny fidgeted in her cage, watching as the old man took her fellow mutant away. "I don't like this," she whispered into the empty air of the room, her golden ears flattening against her head.
"I don't like it either," growled Ace, his spotted tail flicking irritably. "None of us do. Deal with it."
Tawny swiped at him with her clawed hand, annoyed. Constant bickering was normal for these two siblings, especially when Tawny, the slightly younger of the twins, was nervous or upset. "Shut up, Ace," she hissed.
"You shut up!" he said back.
"Make me!"
"Both of you shut up!" said an unimportant mutant from an unimportant cage. The twins fell silent.

Bear watched the mutant be hauled away, a grim smile playing against his lips. At least it's not me. At least it's not Lirik. He repeated the thoughts to himself over and over until it lulled him into a slight sleep, every sound waking him just enough to make sure he wasn't the one being taken. His dreams were full of escape plans, but they just gave him false hope; there was no way out, not that he could see, not that he could achieve. Lirik, too, fell asleep, Jaybird's light song of trills and cheeps like a lullaby, until the smaller mutant was asleep as well, comforted by the promise of escape, but terrified of what was being done to the other bird mutant.

"What do you think they're doing to that girl? Are they doing more experiments? Are they torturing her? Are they killing her?" Tawny paced back and forth in her tiny cage, unable to sleep, her voice raising higher and higher as she continued to speak.
"Gods, you're so annoying," muttered Ace.
"I really hope they aren't killing her! I mean, we're all in this together, right?" She looked at the mutants in the cages across from her desperately, only to find they were all asleep. Tawny twisted around and pressed her face to the bars of the cage so she was nearly nose-to-nose with her brother. "We have to get out of here, Ace," she said in the most serious tone Ace had ever heard her use.
Ace swallowed. He glanced around at the other cages for help, but most of the other mutants were either asleep or ignoring their conversation. "And how do you propose we do that?" he said gruffly, the fur on the back of his neck rising up.
"I - I don't know," whispered his sister quietly. She slumped back against the floor of her cage, the fight gone out of her - for the moment, at least.

Full Name: Krissy Sanchez Nickname: Kris Age: 17 roughly Gender: Female Personality: Kris is the type of girl who, if she doesn't ask for something, someone, help, whatever, don't give it to her or she'll be pissed. Which, honestly, is her main personality trait: angry. She's angry about what she is, what she has, what the scientists have done, etc. She's hotheaded, fuming, rash, loyal to a fault, and self sacrificing. Appearance: Kris stands only at about 5'0" even, she is tiny. She has a very muscular build, small chest, not a lot of curves really unless you're addressing her thighs, calves, or biceps. She has super short boy cut hair that's naturally black with two white stripes down the middle (like a honey badger, woah). She has human shaped hands with pads on her palms and fingertips, and thick black claws, which the scientists keep short, to her dismay. She has a button nose, thin lips, two separate thick black eyebrows that go above her average size eyes with a mundane brown color, and she has freckles galore, and not just on her face. She has them on her shoulders, arms, legs, tummy, neck, seriously everywhere. Mutation%: 90.4% Human, 9.6% Badger Sexuality: Pansexual~ [Likes people based on personality with no physical preference] Other: Due to her Badger DNA, Kris has the ability to expel poison from her body, but before she does, she goes into a trance-like, almost coma like state, but it does work.

Full Name: Subject 0610 Nickname: Ten Age: 15 Gender: He's a boy! Personality: Ten is quiet, cunning, snarky when he DOES talk, and someone you really just don't like easily. He's usually in it for himself [one of those guys who would nark to the scientists if he heard about an escape plan type of guy], and not hesitate to do this. He's treated a little bit better than the other mutants because of previous 'information sessions' which a few mutants afterwards were never seen again. He still refuses to take credit for what he's done. Appearance: Ten isn't very tall, standing only at 5'7" (his growing stage hasn't quite kicked in), and he's got skin like the part-lizard he is, though none of the camouflage that he's aware of, and his eyes are too large for his face, usually yellow in color. He has normal human teeth and a pretty normal facial structure over all, but no hair. He has webbing on his long and scaly fingers and toes, and a lizard like tail that runs down to about the middle of his calf. Mutation%: 92% human, 6% chameleon, 2% otter Sexuality: Asexual [He finds NO ONE sexually appealing! :D] Other: He does have the ability to dive very far under water and can hold his breath for quite some time as well.

Bear awoke groggily, the conversation of the other two keeping him from any hope of sleep. He stayed quiet for a long moment, just listening, thinking. Roughly, he cleared his throat and spoke up.
"The birrrd kid, the one they took, she may be the best hope we have of getting out. Or... we wait, until another of us is taken, and try to overrrpower the humans." His r's rolled into growls, until at the end, the words were nearly unintelligible. He shook himself, trying to get his voice under control. "Therre must be a way out..." And with that, he fell silent again, but kept his eye trained on what he could see of the others.

Aiden spoke up uncharacteristically. "I vote that we wait until they bring that bird girl back. We be complacent, go along with whatever they want. When they take one of us stronger ones out in order to do testing, BAM!" he shouted, clapping his pawlike hands together. "That's when we strike. "The one who's taken makes their way back here, releases us all from the cages, and we make our escape." The cheetah-boy fell silent, ducking his head in embarrassment after such a long speech.
Tawny openly stared at him, amazed that her brother actually spoke to someone besides herself for once.
