Snakepaw smiled. "Okay," He turned no Moonsong and dipped his head. "We'll see you later, Moonsong." He turned around, motioning with his tail for her to follow, then started to pad out of camp.

Lionfur's tail tip resting underneath his chin. "Are you sure you want to go fishing?" Her eyes settled on his. "You're looking a little flustered." She smirked.

Cougarfeatehr adjusted her postion, "not at all. Fighting is pure instinct. Your trining will be helpful, but you will have to use your instincts. Maybe you could learn a few things from Moonsong." she said with a shrug.

Windrush laughed, "Yes I would like to go fishing." he purred.

Moonsong dipped her head farewell.

Wishcomet glanced at Snakepaw, "so, you are already growing a lot, think you will ever catch up to a cat as big as Adderstrike? Or Oakfeather?" she asked.

Sablepaw straightened, drawing away from her mentor again. "Perhaps I'd understand it more from her," she said, twitching her ears. "Not that you're not a good mentor, but you can't exactly explain to me how to do things blind." She frowned.

Lionfur arched her eyebrows, purring. "Fishing? That's it?" She stood back up with an amused, but teasing ex
pression. "You looked like you had something else in mind." Eyes twinkling, shhe started to trot away from him slowly, tail tip twitching.

"No," Snakepaw said, pleased she'd noticed how big he was getting. "Adderstrike's pretty big, and Oakfeather and Wolfstar are some of the biggest toms I've seen around." He laughed, tail tip flickering as he caught sent of a rabbit. "I think I'll be smaller. But that's okay, because I'll be fast."

Cougarfeather laughed, "I agree with you there." she said with a flick of her tail, "come on, lets go get her." she purred.

"you would like that wouldnt you." Windrush teased back, blue eyes sparkling.

"true. true." Wishcomet said with a laugh, "but do you think you will ever be as big as me?" she asked. She was always a little smaller than her brother, Windrush, and he was a fairly large tom for his age. So, she as.sumed she was slightly smaller than a normal she-cat. But compared to Snakepaw, she was pretty big yet.

Birdfall pounced on the small mouse, biting its neck and killing it swiftly. He whispered a quick thanks to StarClan, right as the breath was forced from his lungs. He was tossed aside like a ragdoll, and looked up in a wordless terror into the deep brown eyes of a very large, very hungry-looking wild dog. If he had any air in his lungs, he would call out for help, but found it impossible.

Moonsong twitched her ears, a strange smell came in on the breeze. It was familiar, and scary, but she couldnt figure it out. Then It hit her. Dogs. And another, that was less scary and more familiar. Birdfall. Without a second thought, she bolted out of camp, running right into Cougarfeather.

Cougarfeather looked at her sister in suprise, Moonsong seemed scared, but angry.

"Its dogs." Moonsong hissed angrily, "and they have Birdfall." She said, curling her lip to show her sharp teeth, "are you coming with or not?" Cougarfeatehr gave a sharp nod.

"Come on Sablepaw, training will have to wait." she said, follwind her sister in the direction of the dogs.

Snakepaw shrugged. "Maybe," he laughed. headbutting her playfully. "If you weren't such a fatty." His eyes sparkled teasingly. It was great having Wishcomet as a friend.

Lionfur looked back, smiling. "Maybe," she said, teasing. "Perhaps we'll never know."

Sablepaw's heart skipped a beat. Poppypaw would die if she found out anything happened to the tom she cared so fiercely about. But shoving that thought away, she nodded, dashing after her mentor and Moonsong. She let her sense of smell guide her as she weaved in and out of the trees. The space beside her felt empty without Feralwind, but she said nothing.

"Correction, you will never know." Windrush pointed out, "I already know." he said with a grin.

Feralwind slid smoothly to Sablepaw's side. he had already heard the dogs, and was on his way there anyway, when he had seen Moonsong, Cougarfeather, and Sablepaw. He ran alongside Sablepaw like he belonged there, and in a way, he felt he did.

Moonsong greeted Feralwind with a flick of her ear. The dogs were close now, she could smell it. And she was sure Cougarfeather and Feralwind could see them.

Cougarfeatehr almost tripped when she saw the size of the three dogs. They towered above her, one black with a long muzzle, and pointed ears, one all brown with ears that were a little lopsided, and the third a mix of Black, brown, and white with long, dangling ears.((hes a hound dog XD)) She saw Birdfall's brown pelt pinned againse a tree, and the dogs were leaning over him. Cougarfeather yowled angrily and leapt at the dog wiht the long ears, biting onto one of his ears. The dog bayel loudly in pain and the other two looked to see the attackers.

Feralwind lunged at the black dog, who appeared to be the leader. He clawed at the dogs eyes and the dog snarled and shook his head, making Feralwind fall, but he landed on his feet, facing the dog, then leapt again, landing on its back and biting its ears.

The brown dogs bit Birdfall one more time before it was met by a white ball of fury known as Moonsong. The blind shecat dodged its jaws and scratched at its legs, making the dog dance around and yelp in pain. Before it rolled to the side, catching Moonsong off gaurd and crushing her under its weight. Moonsong yowled in pain.

Wishcomet looked at him with a look of shock, "do you really think I'm fat?" she asked.

"Sure." Windrush said with a laugh, "I can keep my mouth shut."

"Good job Sablepaw." Moonsong praised, scrambling to her paws  and running underneath the dog, slashing its soft belly with her sharp claws, "try the nose," she called, "its more sensitive then their ears, but you have to avoid its mouth." she hissed as one of the dogs feet slammed into he ribs. She gasped for air, "so use your back paws so you dont have to let go of its ear." the words forced themselves out as she coached the apprentice. She had fought dogs before, when she was an apprentice, that still had her sight, its was because of these mosters that her sight was gone. One had bit her, on the muzzle. The infection had spread to her eyes, taking away her sight and nearly taking her life.

"No," Snakepaw said. "You're perfect."

Lionfur looked amused. "That's not what I meant."

~

Sablepaw nodded, doing as Moonsong told her. Her claws scored across it's sensitive nose, and it yelped and flailed, jaws snapping. All of a sudden, a burning pain flared through her tail. The dog had gotten a hold of the tip! She yowled, digging her claws in deeper so it would let go. It released her tail, and tossed her off at the same time. 

She skidded in the dirt, taking a moment to scent out her surroundings, then went back on the attack. Her tail was dripping blood at an alarming rate, but she ignored it and started to claw at it's belly. Blood sprayed her multi-colored fur. 

WIshcomet blushed, "thanks." she stammered.

"Oh really." Windrush said wtih a grin, "then what did you mean?"

__

The Brown dog yelped then fled from Moonsong and Sablepaw, belly scratched and bleeding. It had its tail tucked between its leg and looked much less fierce then when they first arived.

Moonsong's ribs ached from where the dog had kicked her, and they hurt when she moved. She could tell that at least one was broken. She gimanced and lay down, panting heavily. She turned in the direction of Birdfall, he was breating, but barely, "you did Good Sablepaw. If Cougarfeather had seen, she would be proud." she said, listening to her sisdter, who was fighting the hound dog and winning by using its long ears against it.

Feralwind slashed at the black dogs nose, but it didnt yelp, just growled louder, then lunged at him, picking him up and tossing him aside. The dog pinned him to the ground with hsi m*censored*ive forepaws and Feralwind yowled in pain and fury, unable to get up. He could hear the maniacal laughter in the dogs growl as it slowly crushed the l;ife out of him.

Lionfur smile easily. "you know what I meant,"

"No problem," Snakepaw said. He was about to speak, when he froze. "Do you smell that?" he hissed, pinning his ears to his head. "Blood..." his eyes widened. "dogs."

Sablepaw listened in horror as the dog started to crush Feralwind. Not thinking, she yowled, and flung herself onto it's face. Her claws raked it's eyes, nose, and anything else she could get a hold on. Blood flowed steadily, making the dog's fur slippery and hard to hold onto. Still hissed, she dug her claws into it's nose once more, and it snapped at her.

It's jaws closed around her long tail, severing the very tip off, almost exactly where the other dog had bit it. The warmth of blood soaked through her fur, and pain made everything seem sharper and clearer.

She dropped to the ground, pleased to hear, faintly, that the dog had left Feralwind alone. Her knees buckled from blood loss, and she hissed at the dog despite feeling ready to take a long nap. It loomed over her, dripping blood on her fur. She had a feeling that she'd blinded it. 

"Do I now?" Windrush teased.

Wishcome sniffed, "I don-." the smell hit her. Moonsong. Cougarfeatehr. Feralwind. Sablepaw. Birdfall. Dogs. The scent of blood was a mix of dog and cat. She glanced at Snakepaw in horror.

__

Feralwind forced himself to his paws. His mucles ached, and he felt like he had no bones. But he found the strength to take a step toward it. He hissed in pain before saying, "hey ugly." the dog swung its mas.sive head in his direction. Its eyes were full of blood and he knew it couldnt see him, "leave her alone. Why don't you just leave?" THe dog was panting, but still growling. Salive dripped from its mouth and he knew its was wearing down from fighting and blood loss. He unsheathed his claws and put every ounce of stength he had left into a blow from his paw, smashing against the dogs face and leaving a jagged trail from its jaw across its nose. The dog staggered back and let out a yelp. The hound dog, hearing its leader yelp, stopped to look. The big black dog suddenly didnt look so big to Feralwind, or so scary. It looked weak, and scared. THe hound dog slunk away, tail tucked and belly to the ground. The big black dog stood still, not knowing where to go, or what to do. It whimpered, then twithced its ears to listen to a distant howl, the first dog. It turned and tried to follow the sound, limping quickly and bumping into things. Feralwind let out a yowl of victory as he collapsed to the ground, panting and closing his eyes.

Cougarfeatehr's yowl of victory turned into a yowl for help. She was the only cat still standing. And even she was exhausted. She glanced at Moonsong, she seemed okay, just tired and sore, Birdfall was barely breathing. Feralwind was already almost alsleep and Sablepaw was losing a lot of blood. Her eyes were filled with worry and she looked up at the sky, "Please StarClan. Don't let us lose any warriors tonight." she prayed.

Snakepaw pricked his ears, listening to Cougarfeather's yowl. "We have to go help them," he said, starting to run. He knew she would catch up to him in no time, though.

Lionfur nodded, rubbing her head under his chin. "I think you do,"

~

Sablepaw panted, forcing herself to stand. She walked a few steps, then fell down next to Feralwind.  "Thank you," she said, gasping. Her tail hurt so much. There were a few scratches along her body, but she didn't notice them at all compared to her other injuries.

~

Woflstar and Poppypaw broke the trees, taking in the scene in one full sweep. With a heart broken wail, Poppypaw padded over to Birdfall. Her eyes prickled. "Birdfall?" she mewled, sitting down close to him. "Oh, Birdfall. Please. Please, don't be dead. Please... For me. For anything else in the forest you treasure. Please...Don't..."

Wolfstar padded over to Moonsong, eyes wide and terrified. "Moonsong," he whispered. "What happened? We were dealing with an enemy patrol when we heart Cougarfeather's yowl..." 

Wishcomet ran to catch up wtih Snakepaw. Then when she saw the former battlefield, she skidded to a halt with wide eyes."

"Uh Huh." Widrush said, but for a moment, he wasnt paying attention. He thought he heard a yowl. But he pushed the though from his mind, "I'm sorry, what were we talking about? I'm hearing things" he said with an embaras.sed smile.

__

Feralwind opened his eyes, "why are you thanking me? you would have dont the same thing." he chuckled softly, "you kind of did."

__

Moonsong closed her eyes, "shhh. So tired. Dogs. Attacked Birdfall. We had to save him." she mubmled. Her breathing became steady and quiet and ter tailtip twitched slightly as she fell into a dreamless sleep.

__

Birdfall groaned, but didnt open his eyes, "Poppypaw?" He asked, "how did you get here?" he voice was quiet and hoarse, "d-dogs. Are they gone?" he sounded scared.

__

Dreamsplash jained the group of cats, "I was out gathering the rest of the Cobwebs when I heard Cougarfeatehr yowl." she explained, "and it looks like we will need them. Wolfstar, yowl for some more warriors so we can get these four back to camp." she glanced at Cougarfeather, "I am sure you can still walk on your own?" the deputy nodded and Dreamsplash padded over to Birdfall, "he is the worst." she muttered, shaking her head.

"all three of the dogs ganged up on him before we got here." Cougarfeatehr explained, voice low and concerned.

"I'm not sure of he will make it." Dreamsplash meowed quietly, "he has lost a lot of blood." she felt his ribs with her paws, "and he has some broken ribs." She kept checking his bones, "and his left rear leg is broken. All we can do right now is preay to StarClan he had no internal bleeding and hasnt lost too much blood." She glanced at Snakepaw, "find your mother. I may need her help. Its not like I don't know how to treat all of these cats. I just have to act fast, and it's not something just one cat can do." she said.

Limefeather stepped out of the tree line, inclined her head, front right paw swathed in cobwebs. "Heard Cougarfeather yowl. Figured they'd need some help." Her eyes scanned over Dreamsplash unpleasantly. She turned to nose her son. "Go get Adderstrike, Finchtail and Oakfeather."

He nodded, taking off without another word.

Poppypaw shook her head, starting to sob a little. "He has to live," she said quietly to Dreamsplash. "He won't die. He won't." She looked at Birdfall sadly, feeling like someone had ripped her heart out of her chest. "I'm here...I don't care what they say... I won't leave you..." She purred, feeling a tear streak down her fur. "The dogs are gone...nothing can hurt you now..." She felt her throat grow thick, and her voice crack occasionally.

Wolfstar ignored Dreamsplash frostily, unhappy with the thought of taking her orders. He laid down next to Moonsong, pressing against her gently.

~

Sablepaw was still panting. "You chased it off though," she said, grimacing as she twitched her tail. "Tell me..." she said, sucking in a deep breath. "Tell me how much the dog bit off."

~

Lionfur frowned. "I don't think you're hearing things..." she mumbled. "I thought I heard a yowl..."

Windrush tilted his head, "hmmm." he thought for a moment.

Feralwind lifted his head to look, "just the tip. actually, a little less than half." he said, flicking his ears.

___

Dreamsplash dipped her head to Limefeather, "Sablepaw is bleeding a lot, I was hoping oyu could help here while I was working on Birdfall she said, Looking back at Birdfall.

The brown tom shook hsi head as best as he could, "It's not worth it." his breathing was heavy, "tend to a cat who can still be saved." he muttered, grimmancing as another wave of pain washed over him. He could feel his energy leavign his body, and opened his eyes, his vision was blury and growing darker and darker. He glanced at Poppypaw and forced a smile, closing his eyes again. He could hear his heartbeat thudding in his ears. He coudl even feel as Dreamsplash quickly tried to patch up his wounds, even though he told her not to. Birdfall could head his heartbeat slowing down. Then everything faded to black.

((DUN DUN DUNNNNN))

WHen Birdfall opened his eyes, he was in a forest, but was no longer surrounded by the rest of his Clan, "Poppypaw?" he called, "Dreamsplash?" for a moment, he thought he was alone. But the another cat joined him. She was a light brown tabby she-cat with glowing green eyes.

"Welcome to StarClan son," her eyes were a mixture of happiness to see him, and sadness that he was here.

((Hehe. Birdfall ish Dread! but he will forever be watching Poppypaw from among the stars <3))

Dreamsplash gritted her teeth. Birdfall was gone. She forced herself to move on quickly, and go to tend to Feralwind. She prodded his body and felt for broken boned. Then silently begna to bandage him up, never looking up or at anyone else. She felt numb, like it was her fault Birdfall was dead, and it was a terrifying feeling.

Poppypaw nosed him gently, feeling her heartbeat start to rev up. "No," she said, starting to panic. His heart wasn't beating. He wasn't breathing. "No! Birdfall!" She started hyperventilate. "Dreamsplash, d-d-do something!" She curled up against his lifeless body. "Birdfall..."

Limefeather ignored her daughter's sobs and worked on Sablepaw. She'd lost an inch or two of her tail, but it wouldn't really show; Sablepaw had always had a long tail. And hopefully her fur would grow back to cover the wound. "Dreamsplash," she said gently. "It's not your fault," She'd felt similar when she couldn't save Wolfstar's apprentice, or her own mate. "Just like it's not my fault Chestnutclaw died."

Sablepaw only blinked at Limefeather gratefully as she moved to look Moonsong over.

Wolfstar moved so she could get a better veiw.

Lionfur frowned. "We should head back to camp,"

Snakepaw skidded to a halt in front of Adderstrike, and Finchtail. "We need you in the forest," he said. "Follow the scent of blood and dogs," He then dashed over to Oakfeather and repeated the message. They took off through the forest together.
