Zane grinned when the Princess used the shortened version of his name. He didn't know why, but he liked it. His formal ti
tle would always be Zaniell, but 'Zane' was so much more personal. He just hoped that the girl would keep calling him that. Granted, he never knew what Zera was going to do next.
"Good," He replied simply, tightening his grip around her middle. Not too much though, he was still fully aware of how careful he had to be with her. She was so fragile, and he was... Well, he was stronger, to say the least.
"We're just a few hours away, love," Zaniell commented, looking forward on the trail. Soon, they would have to go off trail and through, yes, through, a waterfall to find the witch's shack. The location was so unknown that Zane was positive that she hadn't moved yet. |

Pleased with Zaniell's reaction to her using his shortened name, Zera grinned, also. She hadn't ever planned on using his shortened name, seeing as how she called everyone, save her relatives, by their given name. It was a habit of hers that she hadn't ever broken. But an exception could be made for Zane. Only Zane.
She felt her breath catch in her throat as her captor tightened his grip around her waist. Her face reddened in slight anger and partial embarrassment. He was so unfair. Ridiculously unfair. He was torturing her. Somehow, she loved it.
Her grey eyes closed as she sighed, releasing the tension that had formed in her muscles when Zaniell had tightened his grip on her. She opened them and glanced back up to Zane. "Are there... Others out there like you? Other vampires?" The question had just popped into her head, and she saw no harm in going ahead and asking it. She chewed on her bottom lip slightly, anxiously awaiting Zane's answer.

Zane thought about Zera's question for only a moment. Well, there had to be others. He wasn't made because of some extreme amount of mutant genes in his DNA. No. He was transformed. But, he couldn't say it was a stupid question. The Princess didn't know of his past.
"There are many more of us out there," Zane finally said. "As for how we were created, I don't know. Well, I know how we are created... Just not how the first one of my kind was." Zane paused again to think of the vampire situation that he was in.
"Some speculate that we are creatures made when we sell our souls to the devil. I find that to be ridiculous. I wouldn't sell my soul to anyone. It's one of the few things that no one can take away from you. Others say that we're just a more advanced species. That we've adapted to our 'climate', so to speak. Personally, I have no clue what we are, or how we started out." |

Zera listened carefully. When Zane began to speak, she had realized that her question wasn't the smartest, to say the least. Still, it was a question and she was glad to have it answered. It was a strange thought- what he had said.
The old women at the palace woul tell the tales of men who sold their souls to the devil; they were said to have been gifted with immortality, and cursed with having to drink the blood of others- to slowly drain their life away. And to believe that there were many more vampires out there... It was a wonder that word hadn't gotten out- that people didn't know.
She bit herself a bit too hard as the horse stepped on a loose rock. The taste of blood tickled her tongue, and she hissed. That hurt like hell. She licked the wound on the top of her bottom lip. It was a small area where the skin had just barely been broken. She would be fine.
"Thank you. For telling me that. I feel enlightened." She smiled.

Zane almost laughed at himself when Zera responded. Wow. He really got into that answer, didn't he? Jeez. She just asked if there were more of him, and he went on a little rampage of how they were created. Smooth, Zane. Real smooth.
Zaniell literally moaned when he smelled the blood. He bent his head down and leaned his forehead against the girl's shoulder. Really? Did she really just bite her lip? It took all of Zane's self control to not just pin the girl to the ground and feed.
"Zera..." Zane whimpered, not lifting his head. "You're really trying to test my self control, aren't you?" He rolled his head to the side so he could look at the girl, the one who was tempting him to the wildest degree. |

Zera frowned when Zane moaned. What had she done? Had she hurt him? No. It wasn't a moan of pain, though she couldn't exactly place what type of moan it was. His forehead was heavy on her shoulder, but it was no burden. She almost cocked her head to the side, but immediately stopped when the vampire spoke.
Despite him feeding from her several times, she forgot how tempted he was by her blood, or just blood in general. Her eyes widened, and she immediately felt sorry for him.
She stuttered. "I-I'm sorry... I- um.... It was the horse. It s-stepped on a rock and made me b-bite my lip." She raised a Han to place it on Zaniell's head. Running her fingers through the hair that she could reach- the hair on the front of his head.

Zane closed his eyes at the Princess' touch. It probably wasn't the safest move, since he was controlling the horse. The same horse that was going over all the bumps in the road, causing the girl to accidentally bite herself. He should really be more careful.
"It's okay, Zera," Zaniell finally said, opening his eyes again. "I don't blame you, love. I should have been controlling the horse better." With that, the vampire jerked the reigns to the side, avoiding a nice pot hole that would have jolted them all. He gave her a lopsided grin and shrugged.
"Besides, I need to work on self control." Well, it was true. He was practically drooling here, trying to downplay it so Zera wouldn't get freaked out by his actions, or worried for her safety. How she wasn't worried already, he didn't know. The man leaned down and nuzzled the girl's neck once more, as if to make a point of his good self control. |

Zera let out a relieved sigh when Zane revealed that everything was fine. Technically, it was her fault, seeing as how she was biting her lip- a habit of hers that fell into the same category as her pursed lips. If she hadn't been biting her lip in the first place. Some of the bumps on the road couldn't be avoided. She let out a few light laughs as Zane dodged a pothole.
Her vampire had stellar self control, she thought. He didn't kill her when feeding, didn't attack her over the blood coming from her injuries, and... Her thoughts stopped as she felt his face nuzzling her neck. She shivered before she could realize what she was doing, and took a sharp intake of breath. He definitely had good self control- being able to be so close to her main artery, it's pulse quickening as Zera gasped, without losing control.
She ran her fingers through his hair again before dropping her hand to her side. The princess giggled slightly and tucked a small lock of loose hair behind her ear. "You need to stop doing all of that," she said jokingly. "You're going to make me die of asphyxiation." That was her way of telling him that it was hard to breathe when he did that. She didn't mind it, though. In fact, she quite liked it.

Zane grinned and placed a soft kiss on her neck, right next to the artery. He could feel, almost hear, the girl's pulse speed up when he nuzzled her. They were like fire and gasoline. Definitely not good for each other, but at the same time, a perfect match. Zane was the fire; Zera the gasoline. Ironic.
"Mmm, I probably should stop," Zane said, planting small, sweet kisses up her neck between his words, "But, you are simply irresistible." The smell of blood hit Zane's nose. He made a face before realizing it was still just her lip. It didn't look like it was bleeding anymore, but it was still split.
"You should let me heal that lip," Zaniell commented softly, though his eyes sparkled with mischief. "I hear vampire saliva can heal wounds." He planted a lone kiss on the girl's cheek. "I'd very much like to test that theory."

Zera's eyes closed as Zaniell kissed her neck, right next to her jugular, near where he had bitten her earlier. She sighed, and wondered where on earth he learned to do things like that. She realized that he probably had many women vying for his attention. Well, at one time he probably did.
Her pulse quickened slightly again as he placed several soft kisses up her neck as he spoke. She let a shaky breath out, and shivered. He had such cruel magic. Wonderfully cruel magic. She tried to silently catch her breath.
When Zane spoke, she felt her cheeks heat up. For him to heal her lip would mean that he would have to... Zera blushed furiously. Goodness, she'd been doing so well. She hadn't blushed in a while, but Zane ruined her streak. She really wouldn't mind healing slowly, though the area where her skin had split was sore, but it would be nice for it to heal quickly.
"Umm..." She stammered out, "You can test your theory. Just.... Don't slobber all over me." A small smile curved her lips after she finished the last sentence.

Zane couldn't help but chuckle when Zera blushed at him. Well, not at him, but because of him. Same thing. He found it pretty comical that he was still able to make her blush. Just by the mere suggestion of a kiss. Poor Zera. She didn't stand a chance against Zane's intense charm.
Don't slobber...? If anything could have killed the mood for Zane, that saying would be it. He shook his head at the girl.
"Drool, Zera? Are you serious?" Okay, that got a laugh out of him. "You're ridiculous." Now that was said with a teasing lilt in his voice. He slowed the horse down to about the slowest it could go without bringing it to a stop. He didn't want the girl to bite herself again.
"But I love it," He added, making sure the girl knew he wasn't insulting her. He leaned down and kissed the corner of her lips. Not taunting. Testing the waters. |

Zera felt a cold sweat bead on her neck when Zane asked her if she was serious. Great. She had seriously messed up. Her nervousness subsided slightly as Zane laughed, and teased her. Perhaps she hadn't messed up. She let a breath out that she hadn't realized she had been holding.
She was still anxious, though. The thought of having screwed up around Zaniell made her nervous. She wondered why the horse was slowing its pace. Her brows furrowed. Were they stopping to rest? Surely not. They had only been traveling a few hours since morning. She was puzzled.
That was, until Zera felt Zane's lips on the corner of hers. The tension in her face melted away, and she turned herself slightly in the saddle, not turning around completely, though. She readjusted so that her lips were firmly on his, her head angled. The girl didn't even stop to think. Kisses made her resort to auto-pilot.

Zane dropped the reigns and put his now free hand on Zera's cheek, a soft caress. It probably wasn't smart, to let the reigns go, but then the man would have to remove his hands from Zera. That wasn't something he wanted to do. Call him selfish, well, he was. If anything happened, he would protect the girl.
The hand that was snaked around the girl's waist drew soft circles on her hips, the other still on Zera's face. He tried to kiss her gently, but instincts were beginning to take over. He parted his lips, making sure that he covered the wound. The sweet flavor of Zera's blood exploded in Zane's mouth. But, he had done his job. The man could almost feel the wound healing underneath his lips.
We should stop... It was what Zane was thinking, but he was too caught up in the moment to actually say it. Hm, that probably wasn't too good. |

Zera heard the reins lightly fall onto the horse's neck. It wasn't a very smart move, but she was sure that it was one that she liked. She moved her hands as he moved his. Her arms snuck their way around his neck, clenching his hair like she did before. Her eyes closed, and she was fully aware of his hand on her cheek, and the soft circles that he was kneading on her other hip.
The princess parted her lips as Zaniell parted his. A small hiss escaped her lips as her captor covered her wound. It stung for a moment, but then warmed up and ceased it's hurting as it healed. Her teeth lightly closed around Zane's bottom lip.
She was healed, but she didn't stop. She didn't want to stop. Zera turned herself around completely in the saddle, facing Zane now.

Zane stifled a moan as Zera bit his lip. Any other circumstance, he might have found it comical that she was biting him. Zera, a frail human, biting his lip, his vampiric lips. If that wasn't irony, he didn't know what was. The difference between the two was that her bites wouldn't hurt.
Zane moved his hand from the girl's cheek to the back of her neck. He attempted to pull her closer, though they were already extremely close. Granted, he didn't think that she could ever get close enough at this moment.
"Zera..."
Zane groaned against the girl's lips. He knew they had to stop. He was losing all of his self control. Temptation had a name, and it was Zera. If they didn't stop soon, he could end up hurting her. That was something he never wanted to do. |

Zera could only hear their heavy breathing, and the various noises that they both made. She was unaware of the horse moving, or the small bumps that it was hitting. She willingly moved forward as Zane pulled her. Like before, there was little to no space between them. She was basically in his lap.
Her hands clenched at his hair a bit tighter as he spoke her name. Her lungs were burning. The small breaths between kisses that she was taking weren't enough. She didn't want to pull away. She had to, though.
Moving her lips from his reluctantly, Zera took in several deep breaths. She looked up at Zane. If he didn't want to stop, that was his choice. All he had to do was say the word- or simply pull her lips against his again. She didn't care what he decided, but she knew that she wasn't ready to quit just yet.
