Shawn sighed at Shayle's stubborness and got up to answer the door. He hadn't forgotten about inviting Nikki over; he had cleaned his house and even turned on some of the lights. You could say he was excited but exactly why, he didn't know. "Ohey, Nikki!", at the mention of her name Shayle got up from the couch and stood. "Nikki's there?" she asked in a rather loud and excited tone. Shawn just laughed and opened the door wider so that Nikki could step inside. "Looks like she's excited to see you" he smiled and scratched the back of his head. Maybe she'll tell Nikki what happened, and then we can take her home...

Nikki smiled as Shawn appeared through the door.
"Hey Shawn. I didn't know what time I should have came over, so sorry if its too eary..."
She said softly, before looking over his shoulder Shayle.
"Yes, its me."
She replied to her, as she walked inside with a 'thank you' nod towards Shawn for opening the door.
"How are you feeling?"
She asked her as she walked over to Shayle and sat down on a couch. Shawn was welcome to have a bleeding girl on her couch, she should feel welcome to sit on his.
"You look much better then last night, I can tell you that."
She said with a smile while patting the seat next to her for Shayle to sit down with her again.

Shawn just shook his head. "Nahh, I woke up early anyway", he said with a quick glance at Shayle. He had been worried and got up every so often to check up on her, so basically he was awake the whole time; yet not even the least bit tired. Shayle plopped down on the couch beside Nikki and made a bubble face; her cheeks appearing bigger with the air in her mouth. She then let out the air and said: "I feel great, thanks to Shawnny" she said with a smile. Shawn blinked. Shawnny? Since when has she called me that? He just sighed and sat down on a chair, listening to the conversation. He then remembered what he had heard Shayle singing earlier:

"Nikki knows Shawnny and I know them both! :D"

Nikki laughed at her comment about 'Shawnny'.
"Well, then I guess Shawnny would be a great doctor."
She said with a playful wink at Shawn as he sat down. She knew her next question might start some tension, but she couldn't hold it off any longer. It wasn't every day you saw a girl one day looking distraught and in pain on the side of the road, and the next day seemingly having a crush on the guy that saved her.
"Now that your feeling better Shayle. I think it's time you tell us what happened. I mean, we do deserve to know. We helped you."
'We' as in Nikki and Shawn.

Shawn chuckled a bit. He wouldn't call himself a doctor, all he did was spoil her for the past hours and she got better all by herself. Of course he did give her some medicine for her cough and sneasing; he had to go and buy the one for children. Then Nikki came right out with the question and Shawn grew very serious, this was what he had been waiting for. Shawn looked at Shayle expectantly and waited for an answer; she seemed to be taking her time on this one.

"I... I don't have a home, or mommy and daddy. I live in that terrible place where they put lost kids. I didn't like it there so I ran away and I fell down the hill, rolling and rolling and rolling until I fell on the sidewalk.", she told them in a quiet voice, her eyes fixed on her feet. "I'm sowwy" she said before starting to cry, silently though. Shawn sighed, he could sense her emotional pain as if it were his own. "It's alright, Shayle.." he said before giving her a gentle hug, not knowing how else to comfort her.

Shawn sighed and listened to her cry, the beating of her heart loud and clear in his head. He had very sensitive hearing and such, so he wasn't sure if Nikki could hear the same thing. "You know what, if you really don't want to go back..." He shook his head; the thought of adopting Shayle was too much. Shawn had already shown too much kindness to her, he wasn't always like this. When he got frustrated he could be dangerous, and if he got hungry... he could harm her unintentionally. What do I do....? There was too much on the line, but he wanted to help her out; he did enjoy her company afterall. "Shayle.. I'll adopt you.. if you want" He may be young but.. he's been frozen at his age for YEARS. Taking care of Shayle would be a challenge, but Shawn was up for it.

At his suggestion, Nikki stopped rubbing her back and looked up at Shawn. Wasn't he only her age? Was he crazy?
Yeah, he was offically crazy.
"Shawn..."
She shook her head in shock, before adding,
"Are you sure about this?" She sat up from where she was sitting and walked over to Shawn.
"You don't want to get Shayle's hopes up, Shawn. If you can't do this, don't pursue saying it."
She purposely whispered so that Shayle couldn't listen.
She thought for a moment about maybe her parents adopting her...
That would never happen.

Shawn looked over at Nikki, taking all of this into thought once again. He finally came to a conclusion. "I'm going to adopt her. I live alone and I know that I can do this.... yeah, I admit that it will be a challenge but" he looked over at Shayle, how small and sad she would be if she returned to the orphanage. "I can't just leave her to live a miserable life, I wanna help, Nikki". When he said that part, he was starring straight into her eyes. This was something that he wanted to do, he wanted to make a difference somehow. Shayle looked over at Nikki and Shawn, confused at what was going on. "Is everything alright, Shawnny?" she asked in a quiet voice.

For a long time, Nikki stared back at Shawn. He better know what he was getting into.
"As long as your sure your ready for this..."
Nikki mumbled before walking back to Shayle and sitting down.
"Everythings alright."
She said with a smile. She would have said more, but she wanted Shawn to say the great news about her being adopted, she didn't want to ruin the moment.

Shawn sighed, he knew that he should be happy for Shayle's sake, but something was troubling him deeply; yet he didn't know why. Pull yourself together Shawn, you can do this! Shaking his head, he walked over to Shayle and looked down at her. "What is it, Shawnny?", she asked curiously. He couldn't help but smile, she was so small and innocent. "Shayle, I'm going to adopt you", he announced in his overly dramatic voice. Shayle's eyes opened wide and she hugged him; Shawn just smiled and hugged her back. "Now, can you tell me which orphanage you're from? I need to fill out paperwork afterall..."

Shayle just tilted her head to the side and said: "Hedely? I think..." Shawn took a moment to think. "You must mean Hadenly. We'll go over there as soon as we get some lunch" Then Shawn kind of froze, lunch meant blood for him. "Hey, Nikki... why don't you take Shayle to get lunch while I go ahead to the Orphanage?"

Shawn nodded to Nikki and smiled. "I'll definitely catch up with you guys".

Shawn walked into the orphanage, feeling terribly out of place. The sound of children voices echoed in the halls and he couldn't help but wonder how the children lived in such a place. The building was pretty rundown and out of fashion, the paint on the walls was chipped and peeling; one could just pull on the remains and all of the paint would come off. He walked all the way down, further and further until he came to a small desk, behind it sat a rather large woman with huge square glasses. Something Shawn would have expected to see in a movie, not in reality. "Ah, I'm here to adopt a girl named Shayle... I found her and I was wondering if I could fill out the paperwork." The woman stared at him and started to chew a peice of gum. There was a long pause, as if she hadn't heard what Shawn had said but after a few moments she responded: "Here, I don't know why you would bother to adopt such a creature, all she did was create trouble for this place", she told him, almost as if to warn him.

The paperwork was all signed and done, Shawn was now headed to get something to eat before he could meet with the others. He could feel the hunger knawing at his stomach, trying to make him blood-thirsty. Gah.... I've got to get something quick. He made a quick stop at his favorite local store: Blood Drinkers. Little did everyone know that the blood they sold in cans was actual blood, which they only sold to vampires, for the owners of that store are vampires themselves. When he had drank his fill he popped some gum into his mouth and headed over to Panera Bread to meet up with the others.
