Mick couldn't help but hint at a smile when he saw the look on the girl's face.

"That it is." he agreed softly. "You are free to speak with the maids, they may have something to teach you. Do not leave this room, I will be waiting." he said, gesturing towards a few of the ladies.

"Yes sir. I won't leave this room." Autumn walked forward to one of the maids... She wasn't sure what to say, so she just said hi.. "Hi.. I am Autumn. Autumn Gamboa. I am a new slave here." She stuck out her hand for the maid to shake it.

(I will be the other maid talking for this part.)

The other maid had a smile on her face when Autumn came up to talk to her. "Why hello there little miss Autumn. I be Mary. I have been here quite some time, and boy does Mick treat me amazingly. As long as you stay in order, and do as your told young lady, you find yourself in the best place ever."

Autumn smiled. "I do like it here so far."

Mary looked at the young girl, then leaned in to whisper to her, "Just don't do a single thing wrong when Corey calls for you, or tells you something... He has that awful whip, and is sure not afraid to use it." With that the lady moved away from her ear.

"Okay. I will try not to Mary. Thank you." Autumn then walked back over by where Mick was. She stood in the spot she was told to, behind him and to the left. She was done talking to the other maids, as they seemed busy enough...

Mick raised an eyebrow.

That was short. he thought. He glanced back at the girl, then rose from his seat.

"Come." he said, beginning back towards the parlor. "Tell me, Autumn. Do you have any talents you've learned? Cooking? Gardening?" he asked.

Autumn followed him as she was told to do. "I have a bit of talent in cooking, I used to garden a lot at the old place I was at, and I was sent on errands to go buy food and other items that they needed. They didn't care what time it was, they just sent me. Even if it was at the latest hour in the night, they would wake me and send me off to get what they wanted."

Mick thought for a moment, studying the girl.

"You might make a good errand girl." he mused. He fell silent as they walked, his footsteps the only sound in the lonely hall. "Would you like that?" he asked.

"I wouldn't mind sir. It is whatever you wish of me." She followed behind him, as they walked down the hall. Where were they going?? This thought kept running through her head...

Mick lead the girl past the parlor and the room to the ba[injection]sement, and followed the massive corridor off, away from the gardens, into a huge, ball-like room. Massive, marble pillars rose from floor to the ceiling, white stone laced with silvery-grey ribbons. A painting twice as high as Mick rested over the mantle, just above a fireplace large enough to be small room. Once again, white marble rimmed the outside of the slightly-darkened interior of the fireplace. Placed around it was furniture, enough to comfortably seat an entire party of visitors. As he glanced up, he glzed fondly at the paintings em[injection]bedded in the ceiling. A part of the ceiling, some thirty yards up, was painted as a star chart. Down on the ground was a light, soft oak-wood floor. Rested on top of this was a red rug, one that covered almost the entire center of the room.

Candles were lit in their places, shadows dancing around the walls. He stared passively up at the painting, passing by it just as he did every day. It was a family portrait. A woman sat in a chair to the left, with mouse-brown hair, and golden-hazelnut eyes. Mick and Corey had gotten their eyes from her.

She had a soft, gentle smile on her face, and one hand rested on Mick's shoulder, the other on her lap. She was dressed in a lavender dress, in his opinion one of the most beautiful he had ever seen. She had a fragile, golden circlet rested on her head, a drop of amethyst in the center. Next to her stood their father. Mick didn't bother to look up into his black, heartless gaze. He felt his gut twist at the thought of the man, moving on to his brother.

Both he and Corey were only twelve years old when the portrait had been done. This was before Corey had dyed his hair, and, peering up at the two boys depicted, there wasn't a single difference between the two. Corey was even smiling. Mick's heart sunk when he thought of it, and he felt his jaw clamp down on itself. He looked away a final time, walking through the massive room towards the master bedrooms. Both he and Corey had identical rooms as well, sitting on opposite sides of the corridor the room tapered into. There was a staircase leading up between the two, ending the hall. Mick pointed with a lean finger.

"That is the one place you will never venture. Is this understood?" he asked. The white and gold stairs curled up into the second level, hiding what was up there from sight.

As they walked the only think Autumn kept thinking was Oh My God. She was so amazed at the beauty of this beautiful castle. Her eyes were wide, her lips pulled into a smile on her face, this was truly the most amazing castle there ever was. Who would have thought of making such an amazing, beautiful castle such as this?? She didn't know the answer to this question, but whoever the answer is, she knew that that person must have been VERY, VERY rich. And had a great eye for seeing what goes where. She was staring at the beauty when it was interrupted by the sound of his voice. She looked at the stairs to see what he was talking about. "Yes sir. It is understood."

Mick held a grim look on his face as his gaze lingered on the staircase, then he continued towards his room.

"These are my quarters. You will be allowed to sleep out here if you behave," he said, pointing to the padded bench outside his door, looking back at the girl, "but if you do not, you will be sent back to your cage. You are, at no time, to disturb my brother." he pointed behind him at the door on the the opposite wall. There was a bed-like bench on that side, the same as Mick's, but on that side was already seated Corey's personal servant. This boy was only about thirteen, an since before he had been purchased he had been mute. He was seated with his back straight and his hands in his lap, so to look proper, but his gaze was fixed on his feet. "This is Sam." he gestured to the fawn-skinned boy, who stood and took a short bow at his name. Mick noticed him eying Autumn curiously, and yet he still kept his cobalt-blue eyes low. "You two are free to converse, if you do so without disturbing either of us." he allowed, opening the door to his room. He glanced at the girl once more, then retired into the room without a word.

"Thank you sir for letting me sleep there." She walked over to Sam with Mick, then nodded her head when he told her not to disturb them. Once Mick was in his room, she turned back around and looked at Sam. "Hi Sam. I am Autumn Gamboa. But you can just call me Autumn." She stuck out her hand, waiting for him to shake it.

Sam looked nervously at the girl.

She must be new, he thought, eying her hand. He wasn't quite sure what she wanted from him, so he did little more than stare. He remained silent for a minute, then reached up to touch his fingers to his lips.

Mute.

He glanced up into her eyes, smiling shyly. He didn't know if she could understand him, but he had to try.

No, not sorry!

He stood from his seat, a rather annoyed look in his eyes. He glared down at her, hands balled into fists. He knew better than to strike another slave, and he wouldn't have hit a girl anyway, but he still couldn't believe the tongue of the girl.

How dare you?

He watched her with an angry flare in his blue eyes, hands tensing and releasing as he struggled to calm himself. After a minute, he sat back down in his spot, hugging his knees to his skinny chest. He completely ignored the girl, staring back out into the grand-room.

"Don't you dare hit me you little twit. I didn't do anything to you!" Once he was sitting back down, she gave him a 'your stupid' look. "I am done talking to someone who was almost going to hit me!" She walked over the the bench outside of Mick's room and sat down. She looked over at Sam. Then up at the stairs... She was curious as to what was up there, but didn't dare go up there after she was told not to.. She looked down at the ground and sighed...

Little? That twig was calling him little?

His hand found itself clamped around her arm as he yanked her back against the wall, pinning her there with icy eyes. He still towered over her by at least three inches, and it was apparent that he was one, if not two years older than her. He placed his other hand on the wall beside her head, leaning down to glare into her eyes. He wasn't muscular, but he wasn't thin either. And, fueled by his disgust, his grip could easily have been enough to break the girl's arm.

"You know nothing." he mouthed, although not a sound came out. His face was twisted into a scowl, and there was not doubt that he would have been yelling at her if he had been able to.

"Owe your hurting my arm!" She didn't yell this, but she didn't exactly whisper it... She looked up at him with her dark blue eyes, as if to say, "sorry for saying that, now PLEASE stop hurting my arm!"... She didn't actually say this, but the ex[injection]pression on her face, you could tell she was thinking it. "Please stop hurting me! I am only 12 and do not need to have a broken arm! I have never had a broken bone, and do not wish to have one yet, so if you would be such a gentleman, and let go of my arm!"

Sam scoffed at the girl, pushing her away, although it wasn't before he opened his mouth to speak.

"You will never speak of him like that." he warned silently, "You are ignorant. You have no clue what has gone on in any of our lives. You have no right to judge a single one of us." he spat.

He shoved her away, releasing her already-darkened arm. The boy stared into her eyes.

"And for the record, I'm not stupid." he mouthed. He hadn't been mute from birth. As far as anyone knew he had never had any defects, physical or mental. He reached up to loosen the top button on his silky, white poet's shirt, pulling it aside. Marked, in a jagged line across his collarbone, was a pale, light scar. He glared at the girl, eyes emotionless and cold.

For one so 'perfect', you know so little, he thought bitterly.

She was amazed that he could actually speak. "So you can speak??" She looked at her arm... That was in pain now... Then back up at Sam. "And its not my fault... I didn't mean to sound so rude while speaking of him, it's just that... He... He is mean to me... I didn't even say a word to him..." Then she remembered when she kinda yelled at him for cussing... "Okay maybe I did... But that is no reason to yell at me... He was like, yelling and teasing me before I even said anything to him. So no. Its not my fault!" She sat back down on her bench, and looked at Sam. "And by the way, how old are you?"

He watched her without a word, ignoring her question. He was old enough. It didn't matter to him, it shouldn't matter to her. He fell back into silence, buttoning up his shirt once more. Several, very rude curses came to mind, but he merely bit his tongue, feeling the scars as they were pricked with his teeth. He averted his gaze, still bristling inside.

Signing with his hands, he sat once again.

Leave me.

"Ugh.." She turned away form him and sat sideways on the bench. She sat there playing with her shoes... She then heard a loud crash, and one of the maids scream so she turned her head in the direction of where the sound came from....  She turned her head around and looked over at Sam with a puzzled ex[injection]pression.... "DO you think Mick heard that?"
