Johnathan yawned and stretched out like a cat. His eyes were blurry, and his head pounded from last night's meeting. It, unlike the many before it, was actually worth listening too . All his colleages were from Hecklespout's and their meetings were often about the children at the orphanage. If someone was adopted, they would know. If a child was sent away, or managed to escape, Johnathan's friends would know. It was rumoured that there were spies within their little group placed in or around the orphanage, but no one was willing to reveal who the spies were.

Last night, their discussion was about a child who was thrown out from the orphanage. Johnathan didn't let his hopes rise, in case the child wasn't his sister. Whoever it was, Johnathan wished them a fruitful future, far away from Hecklespout. It wasn't like Kitty to wait this long to leave. Perhaps she though it was simply better and safer to stay in the orphanage. Or perhaps, she'd just given up hope that he would come back for her. Anxiety gnawed at his thoughts, and once again, Johnathan found himself thinking of the 'What ifs'.

"Well?" Mrs.Hecklespout said. " I choose....."
Henry looked into one of the couple's eyes. At first he saw love, as good as it could be. But then he realized it was all an illusion. He looked into the eyes again and saw hate of the worst kind.
he changed his view to the other couple and started to faint. Those were his real parents.

Kitty shivered. Her thin winter coat was no match fo the chilly wind that swept around her as she hurried, head down towards the village. Of course, she had no intention of actually staying in the village; she just needed some time to meet aquaitances, eat properly for the first time and get some rest. Her shabby boots did nothing to protect the soles of her feet from the sharp rocks, and by the time the village rose over the horizon, Kitty could barely take another step. The nearest inn was a run-down thing, thick gray smoke rolling from it's stone chinmey. The smell of rum, tobacco and roasting meats made Kitty's stomach roar and churn. Best of all, with the meager amount of coins Kitty had, she could rent a room for the night as well as buy a sufficient dinner, and maybe even breakfast for tomorrow.

Admittedly, the room wasn't exactly clean, with dusty floors, cobwebs and an occasional rat. Kitty sighed, but used her coat anyway. It was better than sleeping in the streets. Miss Hecklespout haunted her dreams, the ever-present voice seeking her out, threatning to kill her. When first-light peeped through the window, Kitty awoke drenched in sweat. 'Never again' she though. 'Never again will I see her ugly face smirking down at me as she beats me. I'm free...truely free.'

Henry woke in the infirmary. The first thing he was asked was " So, who is it?"
Halfheartedly, Henry pointed. "Them," he said. "I pick them."
" Are you sure?" Mrs. Hecklespout said. " Yes," said Henry.
"Is that so? Then I suppose you won't like it when I do this." Mrs. Hecklespout pushed Henry out of the second story window. And Henry thought of doing the only thing he couldn't do.Run.


YET AGAIN I LEAVE YOU WAITING!! 

Johnathan was creeping by Hecklespout's orphanage, trying to listen in. Against the neon lamplight, the silouette of a young boy and what was undoubtfully Miss Hecklespout were easy to see. Loud voices flooded from both the first floor, and the room that the boy and Hecklesoout were in. Johnathan craned his head closer, but was careful enough to stay within the shadows. Suddenly, the bedroom window flew open and a cckling Hecklespout appeared with the poor boy. With a loud hoot, she threw him out the window. Call it instinct, or perhaps fate, but Johnathan, without a single thought of his own safety threw himself under the window arms stretched out, ready to catch the plummeting boy.

Henry fell into a boy's hands and blinked. Could this be kitty's sister?
" Um, are you Jonathan?" Henry asked.  "Yes, I am, why do you ask?"
"Because your sister was just kicked out of here. And it looks like I was too,". Henry said.
" You mean she's - I mean, Oh, who's Kitty?" Jonathan said. " I never mentioned her name, and you know her." Henry said firmly.
