Hada fluttered closer, obviously intrigued by the berries. Arashi, drawn out of his thought process by the query as to his partner's name, answered that the Natu answered to Hada. "It means thought, which I felt was appropriate. What is your Elekid's name?" He smiled, amused that his companion was so easily swayed by his stomach. "It looks as though you have charmed Hada, that or he was hungry." Indeed, the Natu was tentatively pecking at the offered berries, although he also cast glances backwards to see whether Cynder wanted any. "I agree that we should set off, as it would be most advantageous to construct or locate a shelter before nightfall." He was reassured that Hada was at ease with the other boys, as he had looked to the Natu as a sort of emotional barometer, trying to determine whether the Pokemon perceived anything untoward about either. It seemed as though they were OK, at least, so he relaxed a little. He had long been of the opinion that Pokemon were more perceptive in that regard than humans. "I'm fine with whatever pace you are, so long as we do not sprint without due cause. It makes little sense to expend too much energy this soon." Seeing Cynder close by, he smiled at the avian as she investigated Jake, attempting to convey casual friendliness without being intrusive.

Cynder chittered and hopped over to settle closer to the Natu, glad that there happened to be another flying pokemon with them. She pecked and nibbled at one of the berries, then paused and looked over at Arashi. She chirped at him, ruffling her feathers a bit before finishing her berry. Upon completing that task she fluttered over to Arashi, flying around him a bit before moving back to settle on Gabriel's shoulder.
Gabriel nodded slightly, smiling sheepishly. "If I can help it I'll try to avoid sprinting off. I don't think I'd be able to take too much running." With that he turned to start to the trees, looking around carefully once they were inside the woods. He recognized a few things and nodded, smiling back at the others. "I, um. Kind of have a plan in mind already, if you guy would like to hear it." |

Arashi was pleased that he seemed to have passed muster with Cynder's initial inspection, and ambled along with the other two amiably enough, once the avians were done with the berries. It seemed as though the sheepish one, Gabriel, knew where they were, which could only be positive. They were more shaded now that they were within the woods, and the sunlight reaching the ground was dappled by the leaves above, resulting in shifting patterns of light that moved slightly as the wind brushed the leaves. The place had a warm sort of scent, one full of life, and the air held within it a susurrus of the rhythms and movements common to all inhabited woods. It was a place most definitely alive and dynamic, and filled with possibilities. Already, there were probably non-human eyes upon them, watching warily from the shadows, but nothing had approached them, or obviously fled. "What's your plan?" Arashi asked, "Any input is likely to have value, particularly in a team exercise such as this."

Jake nodded, happy that the birds had enjoyed the berries. Listening closely to Gabriel and Arashi, he peered curiously into the forest canopy and watched as unknown figures moved within the tangled web of branches and leaves above his head. Interrupting Gabriel, he said,"We should probably set off soon, as I want to be far off and sheltered before nightfall. By the way, this is Spark." He said, addressing Arashi's question. (Sorry for the short post I hate typing on phones)

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Spark." Arashi responded, giving the Elekid a lazy smile. As they had only ventured a little way into the forest, Arashi could quite understand Jake's sentiment, and looked to Gabriel to see what the other had to say regarding their direction. He, at least, was content to allow the other to play pathfinder, as goodness alone knew where they'd end up if he tried his hand at it." At least the weather seems to be holding fine for the time being." He mused aloud, peering up. "I checked the forecast before I set off for school today, and it doesn't predict rain until tomorrow afternoon. Then again, forecasts are not immune to error, so better safe than sorry." There was a fruiting bush a few feet from where Jake was standing, but Arashi couldn't quite make out what fruit it bore, as Spark was standing right in front of it. He decided that, if they were edible, the Elekid would notice. Beneath the bush, there was an old burrow, and the trees around them were occasionally dotted with nests. About a metre away, there was a gnarled old rowan with a hole in it, which looked dark, but not necessarily empty.

Gabriel bit his lip slightly. "Well we need at the very least a makeshift shelter, and we need to gather food and water if we run out. In the event of such an occasion two of us can forage with our pokemon while the third stays at camp to protect what we have from wild pokemon. At night we probably need to take turns sleeping to make sure nothing happens as well," he responded as he lead them further into the trees. "There should be berry bushes around where I'm leading us and there's a river than runs through the forest as well, so we should be fine in that regard." |

"That sounds feasible and well thought out to me." Arashi responded, his regard for the slightly timid Marquis going up a notch. "There may be shelter construction material in the equipment we were given, so we should check that once we've reached our site. As for forage, my parents are Breeders, so I've got a fairly good grasp of what berries and fruits are edible, so I'd be able to render assistance on that front. Fungi, I'm less certain of, so I'll not be bringing any of those in when it's my turn to forage." Hada had flitted to Arashi's head during the discussion, and was swivelling around occasionally, keeping lookout in response to Gabriel's words.

Jake smiled and watched as Spark stuffed his face with berries, prompting the others to see that the berries were safe to eat. Jake grabbed a handful, stuffing them hurriedly into his bag before turning to Gabriel and saying calmly, " Its already late afternoon, so we better reach this site of yours quickly," turning back towards the path, he was startled to find a vulpiix standing in front of him, baring its teeth and growling. Jake took a step back, but held put a handful of berries to the vulpix, who stopped growling and snuffled them up quickly. Holding out an open pokeball, Jake tossed it at the vulpix, capturing it.

I like giving my characters pokemon that I have
is it cool if Gabriel possibly ends up with a shiny Zorua, Vulpix, or Fennekin?
Or possibly just a normal Shinx that ihas lighter blue than normal and sparks more than usual because more energy than normal (aka my Shinx/Luxio/Luxray character and beloved baby Bolt))) |

Arashi was in agreement that they should head on soon, having not realised until Jake had spoken how much time had passed. It seemed that getting everyone organised had taken longer than he'd thought, and he was starting to feel peckish. He stowed away some berries as well, before being distracted by the Vulpix. From its stance, he deduced that it was likely exhibiting territorial behaviour, trying to defend the bush they'd picked from. He was pleased to note that Jake had chosen to mollify the creature with food rather than antagonising it, and made a mental note. He was now a little less unsure about Jake's trustworthiness, though still undecided. "Is it far?" He asked lightly, turning once more to Gabriel.

((I don't mind you being GM if the others don't mind, but what'll we do with this thread upon starting over? What d'you think of what we've got so far? I wasn't entirely sure what direction we were going to have aside from the getting lost together thing, though I did have an idea of sorts - not sure how good.))

Gabriel smiled a ittle bit, pausing a moment whent he vulpix happened. He blinked once, glanced at Jake, then looked forward. "IT shouldn't take too much longer now," he said gently, moving to rub the back of his neck. "It could take a bit of time to get something set up, though, if you guys are okay with that?"
He looked between his two companions, lifting his hand to stroke Cynder's feathers and smiling at how warm they were. He was rather glad that he hd gotten a fire-type, even if she was small for now. Every bit of warmth he could get would help during the night.

((I wouldn't say scratch all of your ideas, but as far as the posts go, that might have to happen :/ For sure you could reuse some of your ideas, but I do have a direction you guys could totally go in, and it would be really fast paced and exciting. If you want, I can go ahead and post the deion on another Private and you can read it? I didn't mean to jump in like this and change everything, I just really like the idea of doing one for you three and I have a great storyline planned out.))
