Okay, thanks 14. But like kitty said, you might want to have like a little link that says the past usernames so people still know who you are. Like your friend doesn't know you changed your user, and they never got to talk to you again.

But it can be as simple as this. Each user can get a "ID" number, sort of. EX.
7650(#12345) Then if you change it: Mars(#12345)
The number would be based off who came to the site first in order:
Patrick(#1)
Just a suggestion.

I would support it in the CS shop for 500C. That seems reasonable because people wouldn't just change their name on a random whim, but if they really want to change their Username for whatever reason, then it's possible for them to work for it and show how much they want to change their username.
But a list of Previous Usernames would be a must. And maybe like on Runescape there could even be a symbol beside their name for a certain amount of time to show their username was changed recently.

I do not support the ID under any circumstances. I don't know why, but I just hate hate hate them. They're an eyesore to me and sadly they are popping up all over the place now on other pet sites.
It's even more annoying when you're forced to remember Numbers instead of words. I can remember 14brokenmirrors is staff. That's easy to remember. But I could not remember that she's user (#343) or something. The amount of numbers that would eventually invade my head will drive me up a bloody wall trying to remember who's who. Having IDs usually suggests that changing username could be done on a whim. If someone is crazy about their name, then I have no chance of remembering them at all.

Maybe if this was implemented the site could just log what usernames people used to have. :3 I'm not sure how hard it would be to code, but like. Say you put 7650 into the user search but she's changed her name already. It might come up with something like,

'The results shown are for the following search: 7650

petlover7650

-

Mars (previously 7650)'

Where above the dash is current usernames and below the dash is people that used to have usernames fitting in with the results.

Graveyard; I think 500c for a username change would be much to much, maybe 150c at the most, I think if anything it should be 100c, as it's still a difficult goal to reach for most users, and a lot of users who are "richer" might not want to change their usernames since they've been on so long. Thus it wouldn't be taken advantage unbareable point.

Graveyard-I meant it would still be with the name not just (#12345) It would just be a way for Staff and others to identify others.
Yoshi- Exactly!

I like Yoshi's idea.
And I guess that's true, Jessie. I could say 175c is a decent amount.

Mars: I understood you, you misunderstood me. Yes, people still would have names, obviously, but the only reason a site would need ID Numbers in the first place would be to allow the users to freely change their name. Some people might be so indecisive that they change it regularly, thus causing the confusion. Even just changing your username once would cause a great deal of confusion for most people if they don't have that person's ID memorized.

No matter what the cost of the item, users will not be able to purchase a name change at every whim. Each change will have to be approved by staff, number of changes will be strictly limited, and the former username will have to be permanently fixed to the user's profile. That last bit is what is holding this up so long - having the coders figure out how to do that.

Staff will not be allowed to change their username, however...too much confusion. =P
