The quiz is a really neat idea, and I think it'd be a good project for the Writers on the staff, since you know... They're staff. And they're WRITERS. Eh? Genius, no?

And I think it should be something like Howrse's quizzes. A proficiency test, where it occurs once in a while. The first quiz could occur when they first join, a really simple quiz about website etiquette, written in a way younger AND older members can understand. Something like...

1. How should you act on Rescreatu?

a. Meanly.

b. Nicely.

c. Don't act at all.

and so on and so forth. Very simple, just to see the scope of how much they understand. 

If they get at least 80% on the test, the basic nuances of the site is opened. After say.. a week or so, forums will be opened with yet another quiz. Short, understandable, but hits all the key points in the forums.

If they're over 13, the SB can be accessed, with a very very short mini-quiz.

So the newbie packs. Personally, when we start off, 10k isn't much AT ALL. One makes more than that simply by playing the Twunty Kay and getting lucky, or playing the pearl game and winning once. And unlike before, where one could buy cheap eggs in any user shop, this ability is disabled and so the newbie has to be bothered to actually SEARCH for say, a leverene or a paor egg. What i think is that the newbie kit should be random, assembled out of several types of food, weapons, cheap clothing, and eggs. 
So for example: 
Newbie #1 opens their pack! (say they chose Relcore as their planet)

Pepperoni Pizza (x1)
Relcore berries (x5)
Yellow Apple (x2)
Yellow T-Shirt (x1)
Denim Skirt/Jeans (x1)
Leverene Egg (x1)

Newbie #2 opens their pack! (they chose Atquati)

*insert some sort of clothing*

So each planet the user chooses actually has a small difference for each user. Since one can get the planet berries from anywhere, you wouldn't be bankrupting the economy. The pizzas generally are fairly cheap, and one per newbie isn't THAT much too spend. The semi-rare eggs from each planet is only that - semi rare, and most people can find them with enough time. The squishy is so annoying and can be found every 3 refreshes, it hardly costs anything at all. The only expensive thing that might be are the clothing. 

A welcome rmail is definitely also very needed, as most sites just send you a boring notification and thats it. If the rmail were thoughtfully written out and showed the users that there are actually other players on here and care, they might be more inclined to stay. Even just a quick, "Hey *insert username here*! I see you've just joined the wonderful world of Rescreatu! We're SO excited you're here with us, and we hope you have lots of fun! Sincerely, the staff members and NPCs and other users of Rescreatu." would be really nice <3

And I saw a post about a video tutorial too. Personally, I just turn the mute button on my computer and idly wait until the video's done. I really don't want to go through a mandatory introduction. It's just... boring, tedious, weird? A video is for like... little children. Keeps their attention you know? However, I also know that adults play on this, and teens too. And uhm... Idunno about you, but video watching on a pet site is kinda weird for me. It's almost too much like Neopets. However, an optional video tutorial/guide would be nice, so the younger kids can watch and understand and be like, "OHYEAH.FUN VIDEOS"

Uhm. Yeah. I think that's about it. 
And I think the reason no one reads the FAQs is that it's too hard to access. I couldn't even find it until my second month on. /shot/ 

OHYEAH. The tu part. Reading all of the posts, I can clearly tell people this:

1. Nothing over 1 mil, much less 3.1 mil. That's far too much to give out and would COMPLETELY destroy the economy. There's no point in a game that basically gives you most of your fortunes to buy and stuff. It's really easy to make a mil, so why give it out? Let the new people explore on their own and discover their own way of making tu.
2. 100k is actually very generous, in my opinion. Stick that much into a stock like POT which goes really low and then skyrockets, and you'll have about 1 mil before long, with the pearl games, twunty kay, and random tu daily. 
3. 10k is too cheap. :U You can't buy ANYTHING but awful natties and stuff like that with 10k. And plus, the eggs you can't buy anymore might hatch, so a waste of tu. AGAIN.

I think 50k might be the best compromise... 
Since it's enough to buy some essentials, and not too much to be a total disaster to the Res economy. 

And no DKs or CS. CS's whole point is to support the site, and there's no point in giving away things one should be paying RL money or lots of tu for. Same with DKs. These are very coveted by most users, and there's not point in giving them away to new users. If you do, it'll completely ruin the economy (again) and destroy their ability to make goals. If a newb hears that a rose dye kit is 8 mil, they'll most likely save up and work really hard for it. However, if that newb could receive a FREE dye kit, they could just easily trade it with another newb for the rose DK, since none of them would know the real value of the DKs. Thus collapsing the entire BM idea. The black market is supposed to sell incredibly expensive and coveted items, like the CS shop.
