I sort of want to call this 'Forums for Mobile Devices', but that isn't exactly what I want.

I'm not interested in having an app or a mobile version for Res, I think it's fine enough as it is. What I want is for the coding for the forums (and R-mail for that matter) to be changed so you're able to access it via mobile device. I know a lot of people, myself included, are sometimes unable to get on a computer for long periods of time, so they use Res on smart-phones or Iwhatevers. This can be a problem when they have to (or want to) reply/make a thread or reply/compose a r-mail. Changing the coding would make it so that being able to post a thread/r-mail accessible on a mobile device.

OR

Maybe there could be a way so that you could press a button that could take you to a different page that would allow you to use a different kind of coding to post the thread/r-mail.

Though I have seen suggestions for an app or a mobile site for Res, I have yet to see a suggestion like mine, and I apologize if there is already one.

What phones are you talking about? On my phone everything looks the same. Let me know a phone I can use to test it and I will try to make it more friendly for mobile users.

To have the forums more phone friendly would be great.

I use a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro Android and it is quite a pain to post in forums, reply to rmails and buy items from shops as my phone does not allow the ease of using anything that has ja
va on it. It thinks that the text box is some element to be copied and pasted and the 'pop up's we get when purchasing and using items keep jumping to an inaccessible corner when I zoom in to type in the captcha. Probably what I get for having such a tiny screen.

A way to avoid this would be to turn off ja
va in my phone settings, but that prevents that chat from working. Problematic for people who frequent that. It was much easier when we had the html button in the text boxes, where all the bold and image adding ones are. Although that in itself took a while to figure out and some basic knowledge like <br/> was needed to have legible posts.

So um, yea. Would be totally awesome if coders could find a way to make it more phone friendly. Thanks Pat and sorry for butting in on this thread. :p
