I don't know about a lot of the artists on this site, but I get frustrated by people trying to severely underpay me in tu.  I would like to petition for the option that artists may be allowed to charge in dollars, pounds, euros, etc for the artwork they do for site members.

This could prove beneficial to the site as it would give users money to spend in the cash shop, but also help them in their daily living costs so they can continue on to play Res in the future and not be thrown out of their apartments/ have their internet cut off.

I would personally approve a system like this with no set limit for what an artist may charge as the level of artists vary, as does the time each will spend on a piece.  I believe it will be beneficial to the users who are artists to be able to charge in TU, CP or real money.

Thank you for everyone who shows their support.

~Sagi

PS: Please do not post if all you wish to comment on is that you cannot afford real money.  The solution is to find someone who charges TU.  This is not the place to contest this.

I support this notion in full. Artists have come and gone because a virtual currency doesn't pay the bills, the motivation and attractiveness goes down. There should be no setback, since artists will set the price as they please, meaning the buyer has the choice to order some or not.

The money can and very likely will partially if not greatly go towards the site. And more artists will advertise, since they will be benefiting a great deal with the option to accept real currency.

I'm all for allowing artists to accept real bills, through liable methods like paypal.

I support this!
Personally I prefer paying in site currency, but that's just me honestly- but it'd be good for the artists who want to make a living out of their talent! ^o^

I'm not sure if this will ever happen though due to this:
15. The sale of anything for cash (in any currency) by anyone but the site itself is against the rules. Selling or buying anything in this manner will lead to all accounts involved being banned. No user may sell anything for actual cash on Rescreatu, including art. There are other websites available to you such as Deviantart where you can conduct your business. If you have any information about user(s) selling anything for real money, please alert staff! Rescreatu also does not allow off-site trading of any sort. Participation in any off-site trading will lead to an account ban.

So I dunno, but I support nevertheless~<3

I don't know.

I am very worried that most, if not all, of the artists will start charging real money for their art and a lot of users simply can't afford to drop $20 on a drawing.

In theory it's a nice idea, but I have a feeling that a lack of income money will still drive away artists.

I donno about this either.
I mean to draw FOR the site alone..
and not for anyones personal art for their
very own,is ok to pay them.
Like to make new stores and pets and things..
for the site and store stuffs.

but when it comes to users asking if they
can have some one draw for them..
that when i draw the line.
A user that loves the art, should be payed in
tu or maybe if they got other ways to paying.
It's still the artists choise..to do it or not.
but,
user can't always pay to have like
cute little banners..and one little
creatu pic they are in love with on the profile.

do you know what i mean??

I say..
support for the SITE alone.

NO support for other users.

No support because we are not set up to deal with the problems and complications that will arise from allowing this sort of transaction. There are going to be instances where someone pays and later finds out the art was theft. There will be instances where someone is not satisfied and wants a refund. There will be instances where a child uses a parent's credit card to pay the artist and the parent later disputes those charges and they are refunded resulting in a negative charge on the artist's paypal account. We have no way to do anything for you in those situations, you would be on your own. There are other sites online that are available to you for this exact purpose, like deviantart, that are staffed to help you out when such problems arise. It's not a huge inconvenience to invite someone to your deviantart and start a conversation with them off-site about purchasing art. Everything is already in place for the exchange you want to take place.

While I wish we could just say "This is at your own risk" like we do with user transactions, I understand real-money and credit card issues can be a bit more complex!

SO.

Then to accommodate to what Broken's said, I support the ability to advertise your real-money sales on a different location, be it Deviantart or Tumblr as long as the link stays Res-appropriate. I think this would not be an issue as long as we require all of these dealings and transactions to take place off-site and state very strongly that we are in no way involved in these transactions. But I would love for artists to be able to advertise these things. c:

For example, an art thread stating "Art Commissions (USD only)! Please visit and contact me through my Deviantart or Email for more information!" should be totally fine, or an addition to a Tu art thread mentioning "inquire about CAD art sales on my Tumblr, [link]."

I have abso-smurfley no problem with Dusty's suggestion as long as the off-site content stays appropriate (as we have always asked regarding off-site content). Support in that regard :D

SUPPORT WITH SOMETHING ADDED:

If we're gonna allow that kind of thing, can we include cross-site currency/items sales??

Example:
"I'm buying shiny Pokemon for 10,000,000 a Pokemon, 20,000,000 for rarer ones!"

"Hey, I'm selling an albino zenirix for 500 gems on Flight Rising!"

Once more, it's the liability and risk factor. HOWEVER I feel in this case it'd be much easier than cash transactions to police. Staff can't put $30 from a scammer's pocket into the scammed, but they can refund that 10,000,000 if someone doesn't get that Pokemon and offers proof.

It's a bit of a gray-area. In the albino zenirix example, it's impossible to do things on Flight Rising, but it'd be simple to fix things on this end. It's up to the user and the Flight Rising staff to fix things on the other end.

Furthermore, a simple policy would suffice. "Rescreatu staff are not responsible for anything scammed on a site other than Rescreatu, and it is the user's responsibility to take care in who they deal with in this forum. We will assist you in whatever way we can here, but it is up to the user to solve problems on a different site."

Numerous sites do this and do it well--Aywas, Flight Rising, and numerous Animal Crossing forums, and while they all have their problems at times, the majority of the time it works.

Finally, I'd like to leave this with a point: Rescreatu doesn't exactly have the biggest userbase right now. The site has been falling apart lately with the economy crumbling and the rich staying rich while the poor stay poor. Allowing these kinds of transactions would allow someone who doesn't have a lot of tu but a lot of rare Pokemon, for instance, to get a leg up on this site. It would encourage users to interact and buy/sell from one another rather than just hoard their tu in their banks since nothing interests them on Res.

Thank you, and I would really like to iron out the finer points of this suggestion because I would truly like to see it implemented!!!! :)
