She ignored the shouts coming from the people far behind her, begging her to stay put and wait for them. She had to do this, alone. As she drew nearer to the Virus, she felt impending doom settle upon her fate, though courage would listen to none of what fears had said. Her sense of reason was gone and the only thing left within her soul was overwhelming drive and relentless fury.

The Virus, now appearing as Whitney’s clone, turned around and grinned. Her eyes were the same crimson red as the Virus’ true form and had no life in them at all. Her lips turned into a cruel smile and she turned to face Whitney entirely, slowly descending from her place 10 feet in the sky. “Look who’s come back,” the Virus said coldly. Her tone was quiet, however, almost as though she expected her to return. “It wasn’t enough I stole everything from you? You want to die now?”

Whitney’s face twisted into a painful ex
pression, reflecting back on all her creatu, her life before this virus set in and took over. Her fists clenched tightly and she raised her arm, turning the glove into a plasma gun and shooting a ray at the Virus. A laugh was heard and the Virus openly accepted the blast from Whitney’s weapon.

The blast, however, was far stronger than the Virus had anticipated, and left a gaping hole in her abdomen. She gasped and wrapped her arms around her stomach and fell to her knees. Whitney watched with hatred and disgust as the imposter lay on her side in pain and agony, shrieking and groaning. The group had stopped and stared in complete shock. It was over, already? As they approached to reunite with Whitney, an invisible barrier blocked them. “Access denied. Admin area ahead. Unauthorized personnel. Attempt reported.” The voice rang out loudly. Whitney stopped and stared at everyone with confusion, Patrick spoke up. “Username, Patrick. ID 1. Remove admin area immediately.”

Silence remained. The voice returned. “Access code incorrect. Attempt reported.”

Patrick cursed loudly and pounded his fist on the barrier. As Whitney took another step forward, a massive claw reached out and wrapped its boney fingers around her arms, and tossed her into the air. She gasped and yelled as she felt herself began to fall towards the ground, though another hand caught her and tightly squeezed its fingers into a fist around her, causing air to escape her lungs.

“It will never be that easy, Whitney.” The Virus said while standing up and bringing Whitney closer to its face. The crimson slits stared at her as the jaw with the snaggle fangs slowly opened.

This is it,’ Whitney thought to herself as the mouth opened more. ‘This is where I get eaten and finish my time here.’ Though the Virus had other plans in mind. It threw Whitney to the side, causing her to hit the ground fast and roll until she struck a tree, forcing a yelp in pain and a powerful sensation to dart all over her body. She pushed herself up and propped herself with her hands. She turned to where she was thrown to see the Virus flying at her, its wings spread and flapping fast.

Whitney’s eyes widened and she rolled out of the way from the monster’s attack. Quickly jumping to her feet, Whitney held out her glove, which was no a sword and awaited for the Virus to attack. If there was on thing practice had shown her, it was to always wait for the attack. She stared unblinkingly at the creature, who was turning around to face her once more. It roared loudly, practically laughing at her.

“A sword!? You think you can defeat me with a mere sword!? What does Patrick think I am? A petty villain” the Virus shook its large head and glowered at Patrick across the field. “I am a savior to this dimension. I have the power to save these creatures here from your slavery.” The beast returned its attention back to Whitney and stepped forward. Her other glove clenched tightly and her eyes seemingly sparked with pure malice.

“What if they weren’t our slaves? What if they were our friends? Or our family,” Whitney couldn’t keep the tears out of her eyes. Her jaw locked and she began to tremble with emotion. “What if we considered them our children?” She seethed through clenched teeth.

The Virus only laughed. “They cannot be your children, you are not a creatu. You’re just a human. A stupid, selfish human with no goal in life other than to make the creatures around you suffer as you suffer.”

LoneVarg, on the other side of the field with the rest of the group, muttered under her breath. “Not everyone’s a friggen emo, you idiot.”

The Virus unfurled its wings and tromped over to where Whitney was standing. Once it was close enough, the monster leapt at her. She parried to the side and swung her sword as she did, cutting along the ribcage of the Virus. As she did, something strange came out.

It was moving erratically. The sound of a million screaming molecules rose into the air. The thing that spilled out looked like an animated scribble. The center was as black as the Virus itself, and all around it the sides and corners began to twitch out of place with every wail from the depths.

Whitney spent too long staring at this monstrosity that the Virus had already recovered from the shock and struck her. Thankfully, the armor she wore absorbed most of the force and sent her sprawling only a few feet away. Quickly jumping to her feet once again, she turned around and turned her other glove into a shield and blocked an attack the Virus attempted. Its claws scrapped along the reinforced metal surface, causing many people to wince and cover their ears. Whitney ignored the sound and swung with her sword had at the Virus, who caught her attack with its own sharp claws.

Sparks flew when the metal of her weapon struck the metal of the creature’s claws. Whitney strained to fight back against the monster’s overpowering strength. “So what were you doing when you took control over my body? What were you doing to my creatu? Were you liberating them when you forced them to do your dirty work and come get me? Or when you rode Allen around like a horse!?” Whitney shouted, attempting to break her foe’s concentration.

It worked. The beast roared at her and raised its massive claw to bring it down on her small frame, though she raised her sword and turned her head away. The clawed hand came down on the blade, causing the beast to scream in agony. Whitney quickly clicked the button inside her glove, transforming it into the plasma gun, and pulled the trigger. As the beast staggered backwards, holding its claw with its good claw, Whitney aimed fro the monster’s arm. Sensing her desire, the monster spun around quickly and began to hobble away. Whitney began firing away, hoping to hit some sort of vital spot. Though all she managed to do was make Swiss cheese out of the already tattered and torn wings the creatu had.

More of that strange substance fell from the Virus’ hand and side as it moved away from Whitney’s trigger happy shots. “Enough!” It shouted angrily and spun around, its mane and thin tail whipped around the monster’s body. Its wings hid into its fur and the razor sharp spines along its back began to grow larger. The beast stood on its hind legs and peered down to Whitney, who met the glare straight on. The tail on the Virus then proceeded to lash out and crack down on her, forcing her to the ground while wincing in pain. The Virus then closed its eyes and leaned its head back. Slowly, the beast began to rise from the ground. Whitney stared in shock and turned to the world outside the barrier. Everything was falling apart. Chunks of land were rising into the sky with the Virus, buildings were collapsing and the ground began to crack and tremor. Whitney jumped up quickly, ignoring the pain. She grabbed a hold of the tail and began to climb up it quickly. The Virus glanced down to her, watching as she began to clamber up to its head. As she stood on its shoulders, her glove turned into a sword. Whitney raised it over her head and was about to bring it down, though the Virus reached up and grabbed Whitney, then threw her to the earth, creating a large crater where she fell.

The Virus then continued to summon all its power. “Rescreatu will be destroyed, and rebuilt under my order. You humans are finished here. My world will start, and your filth will be removed entirely.” Streaks of violet lightning stretched throughout the skies starting from the sphere in which Whitney and the Virus were encased, enveloping the four worlds in an ominous light. Everyone stepped back from the orb and stared in dismay at the scene as it played out before them.

The ground below their feet began to shake. Groans from the core of all four planets could be heard. Whitney’s eyes slowly opened as she heard the cries from her friends. She lifted her head to watch as a purple aura surrounded the Virus, causing the purple lightning to connect to it. Whitney pushed herself up slowly, trying to steady herself against the rocking of the ground. As she moved, the armor she wore began to fall off, except for the gloves and half of the helmet she wore. She raised her right arm, with the plasma gun on it, as high as she could, though it wasn’t high enough. Whitney stood to her feet and supported her raised arm with her other hand and aimed at the Virus. She held the trigger down, not releasing it.

As she did, energy began to store within the barrel of her weapon. The Virus wasn’t paying attention; it was so close to completing its main task, it couldn’t be bothered to check if the coast was clear.

Once she had a good shot, she let the trigger go. A powerful wave of pure lethal energy barreled through the sky. At first, it was a large pillar, and then it concentrated into an arm width stream that pierced the Virus. Although once she had released the trigger, the tremors caused her aim to waver a bit, and the blast only hit the right side of the monster’s body, obliterating its arm and a good portion of its right half.

A shriek in pain came from the Virus as the pain from the blast forced its focus to be lost. The creature stared down at Whitney, whose eyes were closing now and her consciousness slipping. “You idiot! I’m not dead yet! You missed,” the Virus proceeded to laugh in disbelief. “You missed! You lost!”

Whitney’s eyes closed and she fell over, though as she did, her arm dropped, forcing the energy ray to literally slice through the body of the Virus. The thin eyes grew wide and the jaw remained dropped as the energy went through its body. It stared down to where that vile substance was pouring out of the severed veins within its flesh.

The barrier around the two dropped instantly, and everyone ran in. Patrick darted to the Virus to claim the admin powers, and everyone rushed to Whitney to get her out of the hole. She remained motionless as everyone picked her up and carried her away. Patrick gained the power that was lost, and put everything to a stop, and then followed everyone to Relking Island.

I leapt out of my bed, in utter shock in fear. Beads of sweat trickled down my face and shirt, causing a chilling sensation to rush up my spine and force a shiver. My lungs couldn’t get enough air, as though it had been starved of oxygen for hours. I stared at my bed sheets and looked to the corner of my bed. There was my dog, Toby. I was in my room again. I turned to the clock. The power had gone out last night. It was flashing ’12:00’ in its deep red light. I groaned and rubbed my head despairingly. It was all just a dream. A horrible, yet wonderful dream.

I took my dog out for a quick walk, and then proceeded to shower and sit down in front of my TV in the living room just above my bedroom downstairs. I flicked through the channels, looking for anything good to watch to take my mind off that horrible dream. My laptop lay next to me; the soft humming of the fan could be heard. It seemed to beckon me to log on and visit Rescreatu. So I did.

As Rescreatu loaded, I saw a new announcement had been made. I clicked on it to read what was to be said.

In a sad turn of events, our staff member, LeTainted, has departed. Her attempts to save Rescreatu were successful, however, not without a price. At 11:09 am, she passed on.

I quickly glanced at the time. It was 11:30 am now. My hand covered my mouth and tears trickled down my cheeks as I glanced back to read what else was to be said.

HarryPotter and Zarabeythe have been found and are recovering from a state of shock. We will take this time now to rebuild our homes, areas, and trust in all our staff members. Also, we will have a ceremony at 12 noon for the loss of our hero. It will be held at Relking Island, and it will take us back to her home where we will leave the eggs of her lost creatu. When they hatch, they will be guardians of Rescreatu, as she was in our darkest hour. I ask that everyone attend, though I will not enforce it.

In the comments, Gelgarin had graced everyone with his presence and wrote:

If you don’t show up, I will hunt you down and kick your ungrateful hides.

I snickered a bit, still allowing the tears to fall from my cheeks. I clicked on ‘Explore’ then to ‘Relcore’ and took myself to ‘Relking Island’ to see if anything would be different there.

Come 12 noon, I refreshed the page just once, and the entire image on Relking Island had changed.

Countless people were standing in a group, and several others before them. A table lay in front of everyone with ten eggs on it, each one resembling the creatu I had lost. I smiled and sighed jaggedly, sniffling from the overwhelming joy I had at the sight of everyone there. I couldn’t hear or see anything else. I remained there until the screen went back to normal after I refreshed it again. I gasped and quickly moved to Relcore by the MarketPlace. There everyone was, and a quaint little home. My eggs were lined along the house and a small memorial placed in front of the door saying:

Home of the legendary LeTainted

Though gone from sight, she remains in heart.

Once I finished reading it, I quickly scoffed and said. “God that’s so cheesy.” I wiped the tears from my eyes and smiled a bit more. I couldn’t wait till the day my babies hatch once more. I could be a silent watcher over Rescreatu until my creatu hatched. I smiled faintly and stared endearingly at the creatu eggs, wondering when they’d hatch, and what the future would bring for them.

lol. I don't think this would be worth publishing. Not to the high class publishers, at least.

lol. I thought about it. The idea of having people standing around, closing their eyes and pretending they're some where/one else made me lol till the cows came home. (not really).

But yeah, I figure Patrick would tailor a certain area in Rescreatu that would suit the person's needs for an RP, giving them temorary and minor power to create a new era and what not.

Though I didn't want to touch on that subject in the story. xD

I loved Vargy's input there, Whit.

When I read the part when you woke up, I was all: NO, NOT ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE ENDINGS! But then you went and redeemed yourself with that wonderful and somewhat-unexpected ending. Loved the whole fic, Whit; you're amazing XD
