A very simple way to make your story good:

Do NOT think like this:

'I will write a novel, but I need an idea'

Think like this:

'I have an idea, now I will write a novel'

But that does not mean you do not write unless you have an idea. You should write short things often (prefferably everyday) to make sure your skills don't go blunt. Write poems or do simple deive pieces to explore a tad more and keep the creaive process flowing. A large project such as a novel cannot be treated like something you could start think about once you've already started the project. I'm not one for writing, but in my opinion; it's better to treat all creative pieces in such a manner. A music piece, a painting, a novel... you have to put thought into these things.

thanks! Yeah, I decided to do that right before you posted this. Are you physcic? :) Well, anyway, I'm putting both my stories on hold as of right now and just working on short little pieces. Do you think it might be a good idea to do like scenes from my novels that I haven't written yet? Because in some of my stories, I have this great idea, but it's to early in the story to use it.

Thanks!

hey guys. This isn't an emergency or anything, but I'm having a slight issue.

1st person verses 2nd person.

I love love both, as long as it invovles good writing, but I'm not sure which one I should write with. Sarah Dessen uses only first person and I LOVE her novels, but Nicholas Sparks, the author we all know of, writes some of his stories in 2nd person (the Last Song, for example). I'm not sure which one I should use! I love first person because you can really connect with the main character, but I also don't like it because you can only connect with the main character. And 2nd person I love because you can connect with everyone, but the main character isn't as focused on. 2nd person seems to come more easily and naturely (sp?) for me, but I love reading first person more. Any ideas?
