A random picture I drew of an omni. It looks kind of stubby to me. I think it might be better shaded too.

very nice ^o^
have you tried using transparent backgrounds before?
it makes the picture much easier to use.

Thank you! I've not figured out how to do transparent backgrounds on my program. IT's probably extremely obvious though.

Do you use seperate layers between the lineart and the colours? Forgive me if I'm wrong but because you didn't colour right next to the lines it gives that impression. There are alot of tutorials floating around DeviantArt if you have a few minutes to waste, I used similar things when I was starting out in Photoshop.

But. I'm not sure if the la
yer scheme is the same in Photoshop Elements as it is in CS3 (the program I use.) So you might want to check that out.

It's basically the same Lolbot, but I'd say that PSE is really specialised for photomanipulation. Not really something you'd wanna draw with.

However, it doesn't appear as if you even used layers at all. Layers are the most basic element of digital art. It's really important that you use them. You can only really go about not using them if you're like OMGLIEKEXPERTTTLYD8 y'know.

I actually flattened the image. So, I've used layers, I'm just not completely experienced with them. :P

I'd not recommend flattening the image, are you saving your files in JPEG? I often find not flattening the image much better, so I save in PNG. Flattening the image doesn't let you go back to edit it, which may be the case if the picture consisted of many different layers.

I save the files in JPEG because i can't find another way to put it online. It takes up more space on the computer too if it's PNG. Or so I've heard. If you know how to upload PNg online, could you tell me, because where I've uploaded my photos, i couldn't load them. :P

JPEG should only be used for photos. PNG is a more appropriate format for digital drawings. It's actually really obvious that you've saved it in JPEG. The image quality is very poor. You upload PNG images the very same way you upload JPEG files. There shouldn't be any complications.

You should save like this:

  1. Do NOT flatten the image. That doesn't let you edit it.
  2. Go to file and choose save as (not save)
  3. Then select PNG from the number of file formats you can choose from.
  4. Click 'save'.  Nothing too difficult with that.
  5. I'll give you an option to do something random afterwards, I haven't really put in the effort to find out what that was. Just click yes (or whatever, I can't remember what that thing says) xD

You should not have any complications with uploading. If you did, you probably did something wrong. In dA it should work, almost all my pictures are uploaded as PNGs.

Aside from that, I'd like to say that layers aren't a hard concept to grasp. It's basically the idea that a la
yer 'above' another la
yer should be just that the image created on that la
yer should be 'on top' of the image created on a lower la
yer. It's really not something that you can say 'I'm just not completely experienced with them' with. The only hard part I suppose are the la
yer functions, but you don't need those for creating art. Use layers, it's important. I'm still unconvinced that you even tried to use them.
