In my sojourns on Res I discovered I was meeting quite a lot of fellow Filipinos. So I thought I'd create this thread for fellow Pinoys, whether in the Philippines or in other countries, to meet one another. Just post a short deion of yourself. XD

Meanwhile, hi. I'm Laya and I'm 29 years old. I'm a writer/editor born in Mindanao and working in Manila. My family is from Iloilo and Antique, and I speak Ilonggo and Cebuano and some Kinaray-a aside from English and Filipino.

My roommate and best friend is also here on Res with the username chiming. Her sister also plays Res under the name of LaDyArTeMiZe. I'll let them post their own intros here though :P Sometimes Artemize comes to visit us, or I go to visit them at home and we play Res together, but not at all that often.

Hey sciver and garcia, nice to meet you both. Seems there are more Pinoys here than I realized. It's okay if you can't speak the language, you can ask us for help with it and such.

And, sciver, Las Pinas is now a suburb of Metro Manila. It's the home of the famous Bamboo Organ... that's an huge pipe organ (like a piano) with its tubes made entirely out of bamboo by a priest during the Spanish colonial times.

Frozen, welcome to this thread. A word of caution though, you should edit your post to not give your complete address. It's always risky to do that on the internet, especially if you're underage.

Another Res member named cheng is in Qatar too, I think. But I know it's a big place so I won't ask if you know each other.

Hey luvin *hugs* I was wondering when you'd find this thread. What's up in Cebu? And happy Eid-Al-Fitr holiday (though we're not Muslim)!

For those living outside the country, today, September 21, is the 37th anniversary of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos' declaration of Martial Law. 37 years ago today, in the wee hours of the morning of September 21, 1972, the government arrested journalists and padlocked all the newspapers and media stations. The whole country awoke to silence... no radio, no TV, no newspapers. Thanks to the EDSA Revolution of February 25, 1986, though, everything's back to normal. Well, almost. LOL.

Today's also a holiday, not because of Martial Law, but because it's Eid Al Fitr, the end of Ramadan, and a special holiday in the Philippines as well. Another name for it is Hariraya Puasa. I miss the tinagtag my Muslim cl*censored*mates back in Mindanao used to bring to school and give to everyone on this day!

Hello, all! My name's Feni, and I'm a proud Fil-Am. My parents are both immigrants from the Philippines; my dad is from Iloillo while my mom is from Bacolod. In grade eleven, which is a junior in high school here in the states.

I can understand some Ilonggo, Kinaray-a, and Filipino(Tagalog). I actually go and watch the teleseryes with my mom since I've got her emotional genes. xDD So sad that Tayong Dalawa ended but am LOOOOVING Dahil May Isang Ikaw.

Yay to Laya for starting this, I say!

Couldn't visit res for a couple of days due to the storm that came. Its wierd though, all the places around uss are flooded while my place is dry. Woah, I heard on the radio there was this family of 4-6 with a two month old baby on the roof of their house since the flood made their house under water.

Garcia, you're in Antipolo? Glad to know you're okay. Rizal Province was hardest hit by the flood.

It's weird, our street in Manila was somehow spared too, while a block away in all directions the flood was more than 6 feet deep.

I hope the storm "Peping" changes its course. Its way stronger than Ondoy and if it does hit it will make more people homeless..I think.
