Not one for being a the type of dragon that stays put in the middle of a fight, Sykona ran out of the cave towards the sounds of violence that echoed. Her violet eyes narrowed and she bared her teeth visciously. From the sounds of gunfire, she could guess that these humans were not your ordinary yellow-bellied pest. The fact that they voluntarily hunted down a dragon was proof enough of that.

Syko nodded in agreement, although she did grow fond of how close this cave was to the river. "Perhaps further north? I hear that few humans live there." Suddenly noticing the freshly healed spot on his wing, she gave him a look of concern. "Did they wound you badly, Deathstar?" She nudged him a bit with her nose.

She, too, looked over at the deer and then back at him. "I'll go with you this time. Two hunters are better than one, am I right?" She smiled, but her eyes kept wandering over to his wing. Never before had Sykona felt as useless as she did now. Other scenarios began to play in her head with Deathstar being shot in a more fatal place. A chill ran down her spine and she shook her head, trying to rid her mind of those dreadful images. "No," she thought to herself, "I won't let this happen again." Smiling over at Deathstar, she lightly swatted him on the nose with the furry white tip on her tail playfully. "I bet you that I can find prey faster."

She landed gracefully next to him, like a swan landing in the water. She then closed her eyes and partially opened her mouth, breathing in the mixture of scents that a small breeze had carried. "It seems that the encounter with the humans scared off most of the prey near the area, but I have the scent of something towards the east. Perhaps a deer."

Sykona trotted over to him, chuckling slightly. "Let me give it a try." She then lifted her head and flicked out her tongue, hoping to taste the scent of another prey nearby. She quickly caught a scent, but not the kind that she was expecting. The corner of her mouth raised into a smirk. "I'll be right back." Silently, she trotted into the woods and disappeared into the darkness. After a moment or two of walking, she finally spotted her target. A full grown, 300 pound, golden brown grizzly bear who was eyeing a full berry bush. Sykona slowly made her way closer until she could see the highlights in its black eyes. As soon as the bear turned its head, she lunged, sinking her claws into its back. The bear flailed and roared, putting up a good fight, but it all ended when she sank her teeth into its neck and jerked up, snapping it. She then carried the limp heavy creature to Deathstar. "I hope you like bear meat."

"It's a pretty heavy bear. Are you sure you'll be able to? You've gone through alot today and I don't mind carrying the load." She glanced over at his wing again and then forced herself to look away. "It's the least I could do."

She thought for a moment. "Perhaps we should cut it up and let it dry out. That way it will be easier for us to take on our journey." Sykona used to do this when she was alone. Often she would change locations whenever the humans moved in and claimed the land for their odd dwellings, and a peice of dried meat would last her for days.
