Okay, well Bubby is about 6 months old now. To refresh your memory, Bubby is my dog. He is black with a white chest, rada rada rada, best dog in the world. He is 50% black labrador retriever, 25% pitbull, and 25% german shepherd. He may have more in him but thats all I know as of now.

That is him ^^

Anyway, he is getting bigger, therefor he is getting more energy. I do my best by playing fetch time-to-time and taking him for a 2mile walk everyday. However, that isnt good enough for this energy-filled pup. He is 50lbs now and possibly will reach 100lbs. Anyway, my 2 doxies are too small and old for him to be around. They live with my friend now, so I think he needs a play-mate. I have been thinking of something mediem. Nothing too big and nothing too small. It already costs me a lot to feed him so I dont need another big dog like him.

Ive been thinking of a beagle, pug, or puggle. I dont want anything to fragile and I dont want anything to rowdy like Bubs. Well, if I get a pug, I dont know whether to get a fawn or a black. If I get a beagle, I know I want to classic type with is brown with a black blotch and a white tail tip well seen. If I get a puggle, well, I need to do research xD I have been an AKC junior judge before, so I pretty much know everything there is to know about pure-bred dogs. Hybrids, not so much but enough to get me through. I just want suggestions and tips. Thanks :D

I'd prefer a Beagle, personally. One I've been around them a lot since my father used to breed and raise them, and two they have less health problems than a Pug. Puggles, eh, I'm not too fond of people crossbreeding dogs, trying to make them a new breed. We've got enough breeds to choose from, in my opinion.

Though instead of looking for a purebred dog or one from a breeder, why don't you visit an animal shelter and get a new one from there?

I am getting one from a rescue :D I just want to know which breed so I can go to a rescue and either adopt a puppy or foster a pregnant female and choose from her litter, and that way I can give them a good review and they will all have a better chance of getting adopted. I know beagle rescues have puggles, but pug rescues dont because puggles favor beagles more. I have had two beagles in my past, Lenny and Jenny, and several pugs. I was little when I had most of my pugs so i dont really remember much. I know pugs take more care, and beagles are pretty much your regular dog. Plus, I will most likely change my mind from time to time, since it will be awhile until I adopt another dog. We planned on adopting german shepherd siblings, but then I decided that three big dogs would be a little challenging and to take it slow until we got married. But, I do love pugs and beagles will always have a special place in my heart, so I dont know. Im just trying to get people to convince me XD

I'd be getting a puggle- with that, best of both worlds.

if you are going to get a playmate, ake sure that they can play well together, pugs and simillar breeds may be easier to keep for you energy wise, but will make for a worthess playmate for a big roudy dog. i know, i have a rotti lab cross!!! her best play mate is a aussi cattle dog, they are about the same size and both tough dogs... a good match.

Dea is right. I have a german shepherd and a golden retriever, perfect matches. When my shepherd tries to play wth tiny dogs, they trip her and she risks hurting them...I dn't know about beagles nor pugs by the way. But I know some-sweeties.

I know Bubby and a Beagle would be good together, but like I said, I change my mind a lot. Now I am looking into more bigger dogs, like the german pincher and 15" beagle.

Our beagle plays with a huge German Shepherd.  Pepper (the beagle) has endless energy for play and has a sturdy build so he's not easily broken by the much larger dog.  Of course, she could destroy him if she wanted to, but she's a gentle giant and  we keep an eye on them.

Well,I can give you high recomendations on beagles, because I have a one year beagle, and if you want a dog to be bubbas playmate,a beagle would definitely be the best choice because when another dog is around, everything else becomes invisable, and thier main thought is to play with that dog. However,it would have to be an inside dog, because if you let it outside without a leash,it will leave. And that is not an exageration. Also, get a young beagle, because you will need to train them from a young age to walk well, because they are breed to be hunting dogs, and if they don't get proper training, they pull on thier leashes like a maniac.Trust me.

XD Ive never been that fond of poodles, like show variety. Ive been looking at german pinschers because they look like mini dobbies and are about the same size as Bubby is now. Since he can reach 100lbs, I might need to look at dogs his size like a german shepherd. We planned to get a pair of G.S.D. puppies but that would be too much work....
