Dog questions plz help :)

Normal User Posts: 632	Is a Rottweiler a good dog to get? I've never had a dog before so i dont know how to train them. I like the idea of having a strong protective sweet dog but im afraid of all the stuff people say and the pix of them attacking O.O HELP! any tipz?

Normal User Posts: 360	They have received a lot of bad press, so I think you would be taking a risk by getting one. Having said that, however, I would also add that many people find them to be wonderful pets. German Shepherds are also called "dangerous", but I know for a fact that they can be gentle and lovable pets which are very good with children. So, it probably just depends on the individual dog and the amount of love and training you give them. Do as much reading as possible about the breed before you make your decision, because choosing a dog is a huge, life-changing step. Just ask the owner of a beagle (me!). How much time and dedication are you willing and able to give a dog? If you have a lot to offer, you will have a greater chance for success with the dog you choose! ✿A weed is but an unloved flower✿

Normal User Posts: 2,046	Blame the deed, not the breed. :/ Just because they are trained as fighting dogs dosen't mean that they will attack. Get one as a puppy and raised it sweetly, not the life of the dog fights. I dunno, I think Any breed would be fine. You gotta get lost if you want to get found...

Normal User Posts: 1,314	I've seen some wonderful Rotties before, as well as heard of local incidents and dogs that were not-wonderful. It's true some dogs can be.. well, funny, but as stated before what they'll grow up to become depends on what you mould them to be. If you raise them with love and care, but also discipline and guidance, then of course they'll be good pets. I remember this Alsatian from about two years back that met my own mongrel Mel a few times when we met her owners more than once in the park. She was a gorgeous animal. We almost got a German Shepherd, but the only error with him was that he was too big for our house. xD Great manners (dogwise), and a great temperament. But, well... there are lots of gentle-natured animals that can become surprisingly good guards. >3> My Labrador wouldn't - couldn't, she's so soppy - kill anything but she's a fantastic guardian. She wouldn't hurt a fly but I'd trust her with my life anytime, given the idea I'll end up threatened by something. And by goodness, is she strong. Unbelieveably tough. She's the ideal dog, I adore her~ So, who knows what might catch your eye?

Normal User Posts: 1,369	My family had one from before the time I was born to about ~5 yrs. Never got bit by him, I even think I have some pictures of me riding him around. Rotties are pretty sweet for the most part, mean rotts are the exception and not the rule. It's all in how you train them, of course. ~♥~
