A GUIDE TO NAME SEARCHING

Hello everyone!

This is a guide for my personal method of name searching, which I think is quite efficient. If I don't get distracted I can find any name in or under 30 minutes using this process.

I know it's a bit of reading, but I wanted to be thorough. If you have questions feel free to ask me!

For any that don't know, name searching is the process of finding the location and owner of a specific name on the site. There is no actual in-site search bar on Res for finding where names are, just whether or not they exist, so users have to find out where they are on their own! :>

Anyway.

Step 1.

Use the proper presets in the Creatu Search.
Here are my presets:

*Remember that we are searching by CREATU SPECIES, and so everything else (colour, location, effect) should just be set to "All" or "Any".

*Do not include Price.

*After each search continue to set "Save" to "Yes", so that you do not forget which Creatu you searched last.

*You MUST Sort by: Name

The Creatu search will not allow you to search very many species at once. If the number of pages exceeds a bit above 4000, it will give you an error message. As a general rule, the search will only accept searching about 2 species at a time. Less for common species such as Gondra, more for uncommon species such as Omni.

Step 2.

Change the page.

You'll notice immediately that all the first pets you come across are dead. They are first on the alphabetical list because they are nameless. The key to jump anywhere in name searching quickly is to EDIT THE URL.

Look to where I have circled in green the page=1. Change the number "1" to any other available page and you will go there. This is how you avoid going page by page. Use this to jump ahead of all the dead pets and make general guesses of where each letter will be.

That's literally it. :D Once you find that a pet name is not in a species, go back to the Creatu Search and move on to the next specie(s).

IMPORTANT TIPS. READ THIS!!

*Search all CS creatu at once. There are few enough that the search can handle ALL CS species at the same time. Saves you tons of time.

*Zenirix are so populous that you HAVE to search them in separate genders. Remember to switch the gender back to "Any" once you're done with Zenirix.

*To select multiple options at once (such as in Creatu species and in Optinos), hold Ctrl and click them.

*Remember the name you are looking for. Is it "Owl"? Then look in Uilus first. I have found many names in less than 5 minutes this way. Things that are even slightly relevant are much more likely. "Jester"? Probably Omni, because of the colours and appearance. BE SMART.

*Related to the above: Anything with really good names that aren't really relevant to much (God, Holy, Earth, etc) will very often be on CS pets. Just go those first, it saves you tons of trouble.

*If you want to get rid of those pesky DEAD pets, you can select every location except for Graveyard. However, remember that there are still pets with names in the Graveyard so the pet you're looking for may actually be in there. The upside is that pets' names disappear after about 10 days in the Graveyard, so the chances of it being in there are FAIRLY LOW. This is just a personal choice. You could search all locations except Graveyard, and then do Graveyard Exclusively afterwards if you don't find it at first. Your call entirely!

Happy searching! :>
