Rescreatu is no longer allowing the creation of, participation in, or promotion of Res "adoption agencies". All current "agencies" must be shut down immediately, and the URL to the thread should be posted for removal in the cleaning thread section.
The reason for this rule change is due to the fact that in nearly all of these "agencies", massive cheating ends up occurring in order to supply the requesting users with pets, or the requesting users cheat in order to get more pets. This floods the site with pets gained by cheating, which greatly upsets the balance of the Rancher economy.
In short, this is an activity which fosters cheating and begging and it is not productive to our community so it will not be allowed.

When I find that an adoption agency is supplying its pets by the use of 17 accounts owned by one person, and it's the dozenth or more time the same thing has occurred, or when I find that 20 of the users applying to adopt pets in a thread are the same person under different accounts, and it's also happened a dozen or more times, we have a problem.
Cheating upsets the balance of the game economy, especially where pets are concerned. Allowing activity to continue which has proven itself to foster cheating is unfair to those who play the site by the rules and are trying to make their Res-living by selling pets.
Rescreatu logs everything that happens on site. EVERYTHING. No assumptions are ever made regarding an account - anything suspicious is checked out via the logs.
Yes, it sucks for the legit users that we have to put a stop to these agencies, but you have no right to make accusations like this against staff because they are simply untrue. You have no idea of the actual time, consideration, and hard work that the staff does put into this site.

Thank you for explaining that, 14. I for one was very upset yesterday for being rounded up in the same sentence as cheating, and what not, and was very worried I had done something wrong. I just didn't feel like complaining, or asking would do any good. I see now why that decision was made, and I agree 100% with it. I hoped that I was doing something good by offering pets to users that most likely could not afford them at no charge. I can definitely say I never meant any harm. I am very sorry it all came down to that though.
@ Supreme - I can completely see where you are coming from too, however no matter how many times you block these 20 accounts or however many, more will always be made, and even with IP bans, there are some trolls in this world that just can't help themselves and will access another IP. Theres also thousands of people that play this, and I'm taking a shot in the dark that maybe 1 in 5 will create a multi or dozens of multis. (I am saying this as a previous game owner and game mod with experience in these things.) It is an ongoing and never ending process where staff have to be on their toes and delete these accounts, but they don't always catch it before the cheating occurs. I put in a super large amount of work into the agency I made, and I know a few others did too, but I don't feel like it went completely to waste.
Thus, (as unfortunate and seemingly unfair it looks and sounds) honest people have to be punished and suffer sometimes due to the poor judgement of others.

Ohh wow i can see where the problem comes from its so sad to hear users are cheating to adopt creatu its such a shame :( now what am i going to do with all the adoptables users donated and dye kits ive collected.
Its things like this that take all the joy away from the community Hopefully whenever I guess it cant be helped

LadyYelena and anyone else who may have thought they were being lumped into one group, I apologize if I came across that way. It wasn't my intent to imply that everyone involved in adoptions was cheating - simply that it is an activity that is breeding too much rule-breaking.
I'm not sure what the rest of supreme1334's posts said - I was at work when those were made. Shortly after I replied to his initial post this morning, he used underhanded tactics to steal information from several accounts and then took items/pets/etc from them. Obviously his intent was never good at all.
But as I mentioned in that initial reply, everything on site is logged, so everything taken has been returned to the rightful owners. As it turns out, this is not the first time this user has done such things here on Res - this was also discovered via the logs. Everyone can rest easy though - Pat put measures into place that would not allow this person to repeat the actions he took today.

I think that the cheating users should be punished. Not the agencies. As far as the people that aren't cheating, I see no harm in someone acquiring something without blood, sweat and tears here and there. That's just my opinion though.

Unfortunately it can't work that way Reapers. We don't have enough staff power to monitor every adoption club and its members and activity on a daily basis. If it were a problem on a small scale, things might be different, but the majority of the time it results in big cheating.

Just wondering, are we still allowed to have pets up for adoption? For instance, if I keep them in my showroom and ask people to R-mail me if they're interested in adopting or something, is that okay? I don't want to get in trouble in case I end up wanting to do that.

You can put a statement in your showroom asking them to rmail if they are interested, sure, that would be fine. =)
Promoting it via rmail, blogs, forums, or SB wouldn't be something we could allow though.

I simply disagree that hardcore action should be taken without extreme evidence because my sister and I's accounts were frozen before for no reason. I think it there are different emails for each account, then no banning should be necessary. Cheating comes to any site really, it's the nature of the beast. Sites like Neopets are flooded with it but so what? Those users clearly have no real life of their own. I think us serious users should go about our business and play honestly. Obviously we're the ones with the better pets and better items.

Action is not taken without extreme evidence. Everything done on Res is logged. Those logs are reviewed thoroughly before any action is taken on them.
You joined before I even became staff, so I can't speak for how things may have been done that long ago, but the Support team we have now has pushed for and gotten logging tools that don't leave anything to question. There are no guesses, only facts.
