((Sightbump.)) "Oh. Yeah. Right. Er, sorry," Melanie said, her eyes quickly shifting back to the files. Damn, it was so hard not to look at him. And these chairs...they were so uncomfortable! She missed the table.

Severus suddenly knew what to do. He knew how to shut off his emotions. He had to strain against hitting himself for not thinking of it before. He felt the emotions leave his body, like they went down a drain. The cold look he was known for appeared, his glittering black eyes mocking.

Melanie glanced up, feeling the need to. She saw his look. The one he used to give her before...before it had all began. Back when they used to hate each other. The pain that was still lingered in her chest twisted and tightened, making it hurt even more. She almost doubled over, and was sure she just felt herself crying. "I. Have. To. Leave."

Melanie sighed deeply, letting tears run down her cheeks. "I'll make it up later, damnit," She said, standing up and slinging her bag over her shoulder. She nearly ran out the door.
