Saran was dozing in her cave, checking her cuns every 20 minutes or so. When she reached out a paw and noticed Selene's abscence, she shot up and roared loudly, telling her cuns very firmley to, "Stay here until I find your sister. She better be alright so I cdan kill her." She growled as she loped out of the cave and across the outlands. Spotting Selene talking to two other outlanders, she raced up, snarling savagly, and shoved Selene behind her, roaring, "Get away from my cub!"

((There. I fixed it. *Pouts*))

Heart and Soul both roared angrily at the mother. Heart blocked his sister before she attacked, seeing her claws unsheath. "It would do you well to know who's in your own pride," he hissed at Saran. "I would've thought you'd know who we are, considering we're the two who're most likely to attack anyone who roars at us!"

"Move away, brother, I wanna rip some sense into her!" Soul snarled. She paced restlessly behind Heart, glaring and snarling at Saran. "You thought us Pridelanders!" she spat, "I'm so insulted I would kill you if you didn't have cubs!"

Soul lashed out at Heart's flank, wanting him to move. Though she was small, she was much fiercer fighter than anyone thought. Heart parried the lash and pinned her against the tree, snarling. "Think, Soul!" he roared in her face. "Do you want the cub Selene and her siblings to end up like us, without a mother? What good would that do?"

He was right, and she knew that. Soul still strained against his paws, snapping and snarling at Sarana. "Mother never accused anyone or mistook anyone for being Pridelanders! I know that much!" It took all the effort she had to break free of his paw, but he was still stronger than her, if barely, and so kept her pinned.

"Those Pridelanders are in for a surprise if they th--" Soul cut off abruptly when Heart shoved his shoulder into her chest. She relaxed a little, but stilll appeared to be offended by the earlier implied accusation.

"Of course we understand," Heart said. "In normal circumstances she would have thought more about her immediate reaction, however today is simply a bad day to get her mad." Though she hadn't shown it, he knew that deep inside she was still angry at having their mother taken from them so early. She'd learned to hide it well and be strong for him.

Heart fixed her with his signature blank stare. "Forgive us, but a position of power is not what we're after," he said quietly, dipping his head slightly to her. He shifted a bit, allowing the black lioness to escape from his hold. "However, we'll gladly help in the defense of our new land." He willed his skin not to twitch at the touch from someone other than his sister; he wasn't used to it.

"We're perfectly fine with tearing any Pridelaners to shreds," Soul added with a nod. She looked almost eager at this prospect. "I am anyway. But I'm sure when it comes to them my pacifist brother is willing to fight." They both broke out into wicked toothy grins. Heart's made his face look much more evil than it did already, and Soul's white teeth made her appear quite demonic.

"Mother, I was practicing hunting, like you said to. I didn't want to wake you, or the others, so I came out here." Selene said as she looked at her mother. Her tone was one of a lioness much older then her.

((Fail..... We need to work in the pridelands a bit too...))

"Mother, she says," Soul spat. "Heart, I wish--" Heart cut her off. She pinned her ears back, remembering they were in Sarana's presence. Talk of leaving the pride wasn't for here. She contented herself with glancing away.

"Soul, you should know that mothers raise their kids differently," Heart said quietly. "My sister is sorry, Sarana, she gets touchy." He glanced at Soul and sighed. They began walking back toward the dens, Soul looking like she'd been reprimanded harshly even though she hadn't.
