"Kate..." Cain accused, looking at her in disbelief. "You're lying." Did she honestly believe that, after years of knowing each other, that she could get away with lying to them? The thought made Cain almost chuckle aloud.

"Yeah, Kaitlyn. You can tell us, anything, you know." Cole offered her a soft smile, though it didn't quite meet his eyes. "We've got your back." He placed a feather-light hand to her shoulder in an effort to comfort her. He was pretty sure he knew what Kaitlyn was hungry for, and was pretty sure that Cain knew, too. She had kept looking at Cain's neck, and the fangs... well, if any of those horror movies were true, there was really only one explanation. 

Kaitlyn's eyes flashed crimson again, and she yelled. "You guys have got to get me home. I-I'll get something to eat there." She didn't know what she was going to eat, but she didn't plan on munching on her two best friends. Although, she may not have a choice.

She shook herself free of Cole and Cain, stumbling a few feet, only to fall onto her knees again. Her jacket slipped down, revealing her tank top that was underneath it. Youc could clearly see the large tatto that went from her left shoulder to her neck.

The twins gasped in unison as Kaitlyn's tattoo was revealed. "Well, no wonder your back hurt," Cole said, crouching down to get a better look at the mark. "Kate, you've got a tattoo here..." He traced the rose with his fingers gently.

"It's not like ours, though. It's a flower," Cain finished for his brother. "All right, come on. Let's take you home." This was really freaking Cain out, to be honest. He offered Kaitlyn his hand to help her up again. 

Kaitlyn closed her eyes shut, and grabbed Cain's hand. She didn't open them after she had pulled herself up, though. She didn't want to risk losing control; biting the two of them. She felt her stomach rumble, and she winced once more.

"So I have a tattoo, too," she said, pulling her jacket back onto her shoulders. "And it's of a rose. And I have fangs. And I want some blood." Her tone got sadder and sadder as she continued talking. She felt one tear roll down her cheek and hit the ground. It bothered her to feel like this; to feel clueless. She didn't know what was going on. How could she suddenly sprout fangs, and get a tattoo on her back, And more importantly, why was she going crazy over the smell and look of blood; why was she going crazy over the sound of someone's heart beating? None of it made sense to her. Or at least she pretended it didn't.

Kaitlyn walked along with Cain, most of her weight on him. Of course, she didn't weigh much anyway. She listened to Cole, and her eyes got wide. It was mostly because of what Cole said, but part of it was bloodlust. She knew that what Cole said was right. She knew that that old hag had done something to the three of them, but why had she chosen to do it on them? It was all shrouded in mystery.

After a few minutes of walking, Kaitlyn, Cole, and Cain were at her house. Kaitlyn pressed the door bell, and was greeted by her parents within a few seconds.

The two adults gave the teens a puzzled look. "Aren't you kids a little old to be trick or treating?" Rita, Kaitlyn's mom, said.

Kaitlyn looked at her mom. "Mom, can we come inside?"

"Um... Is this some joke? I know you teenagers like to play jokes on people on holidays."

"Mom... Please. It's me. Kaitlyn." Kaitlyn pleaded, hoping that her mother would quit playing with her.

"George!" Rita yelled into the house. "C'mere!"

George, Kaitlyn's father, came to the door, and looked over Rita's shoulder at the three teens who were on their porch. "Rita? What's going on?"

"Do you recognize these kids?" Rita asked, still a bit confused.

"Why no. No I don't." George looked at the three teens once more.

"Dad..." Kaitlyn felt tears roll down her cheeks again. "Dad! You can't do this! Please! Don't you recognize your daughter?!"

Rita and George backed up, and said, "You kids need to go before we call the cops. It's late, and you kids should be at home. Get!" Rita slammed the door, and Kaitlyn was shaking.

"What.... How could they..." She looked down and said, "What's going on?"

Cain and Cole both stared at the door with wide, shocked eyes. Mr. and Mrs. White had known the boys for years; surely they'd recognize them. And of course, they should recognize Kate, too. Cain draped an arm around Kaitlyn's shoulder in an effort to comfort her. "Hey, it's all right... It's uh..."

"It's probably something to do with that curse," Cole finished for his brother, deep in thought. "You can come stay with us, Kate. I'm sure Dad'll understand." The boys lived only with their father, Matt, who was a kind man that really liked Kaitlyn. They started to walk down the street, headed for the Howletts' house that was only two blocks down. 

When they got there, Cain was about to just open the door and walk in, but Cole stopped him. He rang the doorbell. Just in case.

Matt opened the door shortly after with a tired look on his face. "Go home, kids, it's too late to be Trick-Or-" He stopped short when he noticed the three. The brothers were sure he was just going to realize who they were, but that wasn't the case. "Oh, come on, you lot are too old to be Trick-Or-Treating." He groaned out. "What sort of prank is this?"

"Dad, it's us. Cain and Cole. And Kaitlyn." Cole said, a confused look on his face. Was his dad in on this, too? This was too weird. "Dad, Kaitlyn needs a place to stay, she got-"

"Hold on there, boy. You're not my son." The man stared at the boy, his eyes narrowed. "And I certainly do not have twin boys. Sorry, kids, but you'll have to leave."

"But Dad-" Cain started, but he was cut off. "Get out, before I have to call the police." And with that, the three had a door slam in their face for the second time that night.

Kaitlyn, this time, was a bit more angry. She wanted to go and punch an inatimate ob
ject, like a tree, or a fence post. She clenched her fists, and said, "What are we going to do now?" Kate asked through clenched teeth. This had never happened to her before. Kaitlyn was a girl who had always been at the top of her class, and she was an extreme pushover.

Most people didn't hang out with her, because she seemed like she didn't really want to hang out with them. Of course, you couldn't blame the girl; the only reason they tried to become her friends was because they knew she had a good-paying job, and that she was very generous. She wiped her tears away once more, and turned to Cain and Cole. "Well, do you boys have any ideas?"

She began to walk away from the house without Cain's support, though she was still a bit weak.

Cain and Cole exchanged questioning looks at each other and both shrugged at the same time. "I...I don't know," Cole said, three words that he never liked to admit. "I suppose we'd have to find somewhere to sleep..."

"Wait, Kaitlyn, are you, you know... still hungry?" Cain asked, watching her walk and starting to follow. Cole nodded, knowing where his brother was going with this. Of course they wanted to make sure Kate was all right; and of course, if it was really important, they didn't want her to get really weak, or worse...

Kaitlyn sighed. "Yes. I'm still hungry." Now, instead of her stomach growling, it was just a constant pain. She didn't feel quite as weak, but she felt a bit... desperate. She couldn't get the metallic smell of blood out of her nose. She couldn't stop seeing the red liquid in everyone around her. It was scary, yet so inviting at the same time.

"Well, I only have a little money, but it's not enough to get a hotel room with." She laid a hand on her stomach, and sighed again.

Kaitlyn pulled her wallet out from her back pocket, and counted through her money. "I've got eighty dollars." She held up her fifty dollar bill, a twenty, and a ten. "And most hotel rooms are about eighty dollars a night, but when you have more than two people, they charge you more. We have enough now." She ran a hand through her dirty blonde hair, and sighed.

She put her wallet back in her pocket and said, "Well, if we're going to get to a hotel by foot, we need to get going."
