Wolfgang’s callous blue gaze scanned around the SwiftClan clearing. It was easy to see the whole camp from the Warrior’s den. Wolfgang had been looking at the camp from this angle for quite some time now, however he was still a fairly new warrior, having been given his warrior name not even a moon before.

Wolfgang turned away from the Warrior Den’s entrance and rested his head and his paws. He felt the need to sleep but he knew sleep wouldn’t come, at least not for a while. Ever since his parents’ deaths at the hands of an enemy Clan, Wolfgang’s sleeping patterns had gotten even stranger. He’d close his eyes for the night long after the rest of the clan had gone to sleep and open them again before any other cat stirred and still run perfectly on such little sleep he had received. Every now and then this would catch up on him and he would head in early and get up when the sun was nearly at its highest point, but that was rare.

The sounds of the night were beginning to drown out Wolfgang’s thoughts and he began paying most of his attention to the different sounds coming from outside in the forest. The hooting of an owl or a gust of wind that rustled the leaves and brought the welcoming scent of fresh kill. Wolfgang sighed solemnly and shut his eyes, but it would be a while until he was fully asleep and he would spend most of the night drifting in and out of consciousness. He felt sick.

ooc; Damn, are my intros always this stupid? XD

Mudswirl blinked his eyes awake, to find that the night had shrouded the Clan in darkness. Disappointed, he turned to seek out his brother's jet black pelt. Crowdance blended in perfectly with the dark and stuffy warriors den, making it impossible to find him. Frustrated, Mudswirl stalked outside the warriors den, his paws aching with energy despite the short nap he had taken. 'Perhaps I'll just stand by the camp entrance.' Mudswirl thought, looking around at the dark camp. He snuck off to the camp entrance, standing guard.

---

Crowdance arose when he heard the sound of pawsteps through the den. He saw the dark brown pelt of Mudswirl make its way out of the den. Crowdance twitched his ears in amusement. Mudswirl may be a silent stalker, but Crowdance could hear his pawsteps. He lay his head back between his two front paws, slowly closing his eyes again.

---

Goldenbrook was lazing on a rock outside the warriors den, only flickering her eyes to watch Mudswirl stalk out of the warriors den. She sighed, rolling around. The warriors den was too cramped for her, and she was wondering if she would ask Lionstar to find new holes or caves for warriors to move in. The apprentices would soon become warriors, and kits become apprentices.

---

Iceweb was fast asleep in the warriors den. Nothing disturbs herrrr -.-''

---

Nightpaw is also asleep c:

[[Sorry for the last two. There isn't much things a cat can do when they're supposed to be asleep.]]

Sneezing delicately in the gloomy Apprentice's den Crimsonpaw scratched her nose awkwardly. There's too many apprentices, she thought with a sigh, feeling her paw accidentally catch on Nightpaw's ear. "Oops," she mewed softly, hoping the apprentice wouldn't wake up and be angry with her. It was hard in such a small place, the crush of apprentices nearly suffocating the ones stuck in the center of the den.

And the center is supposed to be for the more senior warriors, she thought wryly. Now it was home to the newer apprentices, since the elder ones didn't want to be stuck in the middle where the heat was at its highest.

--

Grumbling to himself angrily Bramblepaw snuck out of the apprentice's den, slipping by his sister with only mouse-tails to spare. Shaking his fur to rid it off the musky scent that clung to the apprentice's den, and any cat that slept in it, he padded out towards the dirt tunnel in the chilly night air.

"Too many cats," he meowed to himself with a sigh as he walked across the clearing, pausing to navigate the fresh-kill pile that rose out of the darkness as suddenly as a hidden fox, startling him slightly.

Of course, being the clumsy apprentice he was, in doing so he stepped directly in Mudswirl’s path.

--

Purring gently Kestrelwing padded out of the forest with a goodly amount of prey clutched in her jaws, Blackfang trailing slightly behind. Flicking her tail to indicate that he and Brindlepaw and Dustpaw, who had accompanied them for this hunt, to hurry up.

“Softly now,” she warned gently to the apprentices, stifling a mreowr of laughter at the indignant look in Dustpaw’s eyes. “You don’t want to wake up Dawnwhisper now, do you? With Smokekit barely falling asleep on time each night, you know she’s grumpy.”

At the fearful look that entered Brindlepaw’s eyes, and the cautious one in Dustpaw’s, Kestrelwing knew that the two would be as a silent as the dead, or die trying. No one wanted to bother a queen, not in this heat.

--

Redthunder snored gently in his nest with Poppydawn, letting out a small purr as she nuzzled his ears gently. “Sleep well,” she meowed in his ear as she disentangled her slim grey body from the moss and stepped out gingerly from their nest.

Casting a quick glance in the murky gloom of the Warrior’s den she noticed that Goldenbrook’s and Mudswirl’s nests were empty. And Wolfgang’s as well. They must already be awake, she thought with a small sigh.

--

Goldwhisker padded up to Goldenbrook and dropped a plump chaffinch by her paws. “I thought you might be hungry,” he explained gently, settling down next to her. “Tired by the friendly crush of the warrior’s den already?” he teased with a mischievous grin. He might be nearly old enough to be a venerable elder, but Goldwhisker had always had a sense of humor, even when Graymist had pa-ssed away.

Nightpaw's eyes flickered open when she heard a sneeze, only closing them again. This time, she jerked up irritably when she felt a paw brush by her ear. Nightpaw looked around the apprentice den, looking for the cat who dared to disturb her. When none of them were moving, she looked at the closest cat to her. A nest by her was empty, only leaving Webpaw. As-suming that the lazy apprentice was tossing in his sleep, Nightpaw batted his head with a gentle paw. "Mouse-brained furball." She hissed, despite the gentle gesture. "Stop moving around."

---

Goldenbrook looked down at the prey that Goldwhisker brought. "Oh, hello, Goldwhisker." She said pleasantly, nodding her head in acknowledgement. "Yes, I suppose." She said, sighing and glancing at the warrior's den. "It's getting stuffy these days, and with the heat..."

---

Mudswirl let out an instinctive snarl of alarm when he felt a cat bump into him. He stood on his claws, back arching and spitting in case it was an invader. He immediately saw the familiar shape of an apprentice, by the smell, Bramblepaw. "Oh, it's just you." Mudswirl said, returning to his friendly and pleasant voice. "What're you up to, so late at night?" He asked.

"Moving around wha--?" Webpaw asked in confusion, lifting his head to look at Nightpaw with one bleary eye. "I've been asleep the whole time and according to Marshpaw I don't move in my sleep. I bet it was Crimsonpaw," he meowed defensively, pointing to the empty nest.

It was still warm and smelled like Crimsonpaw, so Webpaw was sure that she had been the culprit. "Go back to sleep Nightpaw, or shush, since I need to get some rest," he hissed crossly, normally sunny mood darkened by her accusation.

--

"I know. Dawnwhisper is particularily irritated by this weather," he meowed fondly, thinking of his kit. "I suppose we ought to bring this matter before Crowdance or Lionstar," he said to her, scratching an ear lazily.

"No point in roasting in our den while we're sleeping. Too many bodies and it becomes as hot as a wildfire," he grumbled.

--

"It's too hot in the den," Bramblepaw complained. "And I couldn't sleep with Crimsonpaw's twitching. She's got the night-fidgets again." Using his mother's nickname for Crimsonpaw's odd jerking that she got when she was uncomfortable while asleep, the brown tom gave a small sigh.

"I hate this kind of weather," he meowed petulantly.

--

Marshpaw cracked an eyelid open and let out a small growl. "Both of you hush," he meowed crossly. "Otherwise this entire den is going to wake up and then we'll be in hot water because of you guys. I'm pretty sure the warrior's want to sleep, you know."

--

"Anything the matter, Mudswirl?" Kestrelwing asked in a soft meow as she neared the warrior and apprentice, feeling alarmed at Mudswirl's hiss. Noticing Bramblepaw though, she sighed inwardly.

"Why are you awake?" she mewed gently, touching his shoulder with her russet tail.

Nightpaw felt her neck fur bristle when Marshpaw mewed at them like how a mother scolds her kit. "Fine." She muttered indignantly, not wanting to start a fight late at night. She pushed her nose into Webpaw's brown fur. "There. Sorry." She said gently, returning to her nest. "And you too." She rested a tail on Marshpaw's shoulder for a heartbeat, then curled it over herself. 'Now shut up and let me sleep.' She thought irritably, though she felt slightly amused for no reason at all.

---

Goldenbrook nodded. "I don't think Crowdance appreciates the heat in the warrior's den either." She said. Her eyes were adjusting to the night, and she thought she could pick out different cat-like shapes moving around in the night, though none of them had the sleek, jet black fur that belonged to their deputy.

---

Mudswirl purred in amusement with Bramblepaw's complaints about his kin. "Can't help it, can't she?" He asked, looking up to see Kestrelwing. "Nothing wrong, Kestrelwing." He said pleasantly. "I mistook Bramblepaw for a badger or fox." He said, eyes sparkling with amusement.

"I don't think he's big enough to pa.ss as a fox," she meowed back with amusment coloring her voice. "I mean, he's so adorable and little!" she exclaimed. Kestrelwing was just teasing Bramblepaw, for even a blind cat could tell that the apprentice was large for his age. He could pa.ss off as a warrior if he wanted to, with those broad and muscular shoulders of his.

--

"Adorable?" Blackfang snorted disdainfully. "Please, you go to far," he meowed dryly. Blackfang didn't have much in the way of humour, but he had his own little quips that he occasionally broke out, though mostly on Kestrelwing.

--

Mumbling something about 'Warriors and their ways,' Bramblepaw gave a small sigh. "I'm sorry for startling you Mudswirl. At least we know you were doing your duty," he meowed in a solemn voice.

--

"It's fine Nightpaw," Webpaw meowed with a small purr, touching her shoulder with his nose. "I'm just irritable in the mornings, or in this case, very early mornings." Curling up again with his tail over his nose he almost missed Marshpaw's little snort of disbelief.

"You can say that again," his nestmate grumbled. "You nearly ripped my ears off when we were kits because I accidentally stepped on your tail in the morning."

--

Following Goldenbrook’s gaze, Goldwhisker agreed. “I doubt he does, at that,” he meowed in amusement. “Especially with that black fur of his. I feel sorry for Crowdance during the hot summer days.”

--

Mudswirl let out a mrrow of laughter. "No need to be so serious, Bramblepaw." He said, giving the apprentice a gentle shove. "I suppose he doesn't like Kestrelwing acting like a doting queen!" He twitched an amused ear.

---

Nightpaw couldn't help but purr in amusement. "Ah yes, how could we ever forget that fateful day?" Nightpaw asked half-sarcastically. She was just a kit then, but she could remember it. She had never witnessed any cat so full of... rage. "Well, good night, you two. Or early morning. Whatever." She sighed and closed her eyes, hoping the two would stop bickering.
