(Oh wow.)

I\'m extremely sorry for my absence. I\'ve been very busy and was recently attacked by 3 dogs and am currently recovering.

((I'm glad Rika and I aren't the only ones thinking this RP is going to fast. The other night I could be off Res for an hour and there would be a dozen posts. I'm hoping you guys have school tomorrow like me just so I know I won't come home to a hundred alerts. >>))

Kitchi watched with wide dark eyes as the man before him shifted into a bear. For several moments he was at a loss for words, standing completely silent as he stared at the spirit. Once he recovered, he hastily nodded, looking suddenly shy in the presence of a spirit. "O-of course!" he managed to say, then paused, lifting his hand to chest level. He considered it for a moment, then gently reached out to touch the Kuruk's head. He could feel the soft fur under his fingers. This couldn't just be an illusion; It was real.

Kuruk tilted his head into Kitchi's gentle touch, closing his eyes slightly. "Yes, child, I am here. I sensed that you were upset, so I have come to help in whatever manner I may." The bear stood up, moving to nudge his head against Kitchi. "You are a skilled hunter, my child. Remember that, for even a spirit can make a mistake or two," he told him, a warm chuckle escaping him.

Kitchi let his hand slip from Kuruk's head as the bear spirit stood up, having to now look up at him. The young male frowned slightly and looked away, gripping his bow a little tighter.

"Now is not the time for mistakes," he replied with a sigh. "My people are weak and dying. Even some of our best hunters have fallen to the white men's diseases. The weak need food, and as a healthy hunter I must feed them. I can not simply accept failure."

Kuruk merely smiled, nuzzling the young human. "Do not be so hard on yourself. I know the pain  you feel in being unable to help your people. I am a warrior spirit, so I am unable the heal the sick. I can merely lay with as they die and make it less frightening and painful." He looked out into the trees. "Do not think low of yourself, Kitchi. You are doing what you can, and I am proud of you, my child. You are as your name says."

Kitchi hesitated for a moment, looking down at the ground despite Kuruk only saying kind things. After a moment, he quietly moved closer, clinging to the fur of Kuruk's stomach and burying his face in it. He didn't cry. It was pointless crying over a lost kill, but he found comfort in the spirit's presence. He had never had a mother, or even a father, to care for him. The tribe chief had adopted him, and called him his son, but it was a relationship of respect, not love.

Kuruk seated himself once more, wrapping a gentle paw around the human, lowering his head to nuzzle him. "It will be alright, Kitchi. You care for your tribe as if you were born here as well, and you may as well have been. You have been under my protection since you arrive, and shall remain so until you join the realm of the spirits." He closed his dark eyes, the great white bear relaxing. "You have been a wonderful addition to the tribe, my child. Remember that."

((I'm wondering if I scared them away... o3o))

Kitchi snuggled deeper into the warmth of the spirit bear, drawing away as a sudden thought struck him. He carefully took off his necklace, which held a pure white bear fang, and lifted it up to Kuruk's muzzle.

"They found me with this fang," Kitchi murmured. "Have you always been watching over me? Even before I was a part of this tribe?"

Kuruk chuckled, low and warm, before parting his jaws to show his own pure white fangs, what could easily pass as a smile forming on the spirit bear's muzzle. "I have, Kitchi. You were not a child meant to be lost, so I watched over and protected you, even bringing you as close to the village as I could." He tilted his head, placing his paw back down on the ground. "I could tell you would grow into a fine young man, and you have done just that. You have made the spirits proud, Kitchi, whether you believe so or not."

The great bear lifted his head, looking off into the trees. It was oddly quiet, but for the moment he supposed it was from the hunting attempt. He returned his attention to Kitchi, moving to gently touch his nose to the fang. "Take care of this fang, as it is a connection to me when you are in times of need."
